Went to Clue Carre on Mother's Day. Fun experience, but would not recommend bringing young children to play (10 and younger). Went with 9, 8 and 7 year old. Based on the room theme (vampire) and the challenge difficulty (most difficult), it wasn't the best option for if you are bringing young kids. Maybe another theme and room difficulty. My wife and I were in New Orleans for a wedding and it was our third time there. So we wanted to do something more wholesome than the usual Bourbon street binge drinking. We have done over 30 escape rooms but this was our first time doing them with just us two, so we were a bit nervous but up for the challenge. Day 1 we had Kam who was awesome - so enthusiastic and excited to be our game master. We did the Voodoo Cemetery with ~16 mins to spare and then the Revenge on the Bayou right after with ~19 mins to spare with just the two of us. The rooms were challenging but very doable for even 2 people with escape room experience. I had so much fun day 1 that I wanted to finish all the rooms they had to offer so we booked their other 2 rooms the next day. We literally brought our luggage with us and went to the airport after. Nisha was our game master and she was also amazing and had great enthusiasm! We did both the Carnival Heist and the Vampire Hunter room, which are supposed to be harder than the Voodoo/Bayou. We finished each with about ~6 mins left to spare. Those rooms would definitely benefit from having a team of ~3-4+ players, but it is doable with 2 if you are experienced. The rooms are designed so well and the immersion is excellent - great props, decor, and story. The puzzles made sense and had great flow to them. What I liked the most about Clue Carre is that they only do private room experiences, so you aren't paired up with random strangers. I can't wait to check out their other location and rooms we haven't done when we are back in Nola!!! What a wonderful bookend to our nice vacation. read more

Such a fun activity to do in NOLA. The walk here from French Quarter was not bad. We walked during daylights though. I love the themes here - it was very fitting. The voodoo room was the first time I escaped with just 2 players. We asked for a lot of hints because we wanted to make sure we escape this time. Some puzzle pieces were pretty old. It fits the theme, but at the same time, it is getting a bit hard to make out the outline/shape/words, so I don't know if it's still intentional. They have a spacious waiting area. The locker was a communal locker, shared between all parties though, so I could imagine it might get chaotic in here if they had a lot of people doing the rooms at once. I think they only have 1 person working while we were there too, and she had to handle all the checking in and managing multiple rooms as game master. read more

During our New Orleans trip, my friend and I wanted something to do sans alcohol and stumbled upon Clue Carré. Initially, we were a bit skeptical because we've done a few escape rooms and usually stick to familiar chains but I'm so glad we gave them a try! From check-in to completion, we had a great time! All of the themes were enticing and fit the culture of New Orleans. I believe we opted to do Eve's Bayou, and even though it stumped us we had a GREAT time (I believe if we had more than 2 people we would have broken out of there). These rooms had awesome, triggered technology and our game master was super attentive and able to give great hints without telling us the answer! If I ever venture back, I will certainly HAVE to stop by. + when you book a room, it is reserved for your entire party, so you don't have to worry about strangers joining and messing up your flow :) read more

My partner and I did both the French Quarter house of curiosities and the Voodoo cemetery. We beat both of them with under 10 minutes left. The french quarters was harder because it had more puzzles and some were slightly obscure. The voodoo cemetery was much more fun however and incorporated more technology and history of Nola. I think for larger groups of 4-6 you'll find yourself beating either of these with no problem. Overall the commitment to the themes and the pace of the puzzles were great. I love that they incorporate a checklist in the rooms so you have an idea of what needs to be completed as youre doing it. Some negatives though, in both rooms we had something not setup right which lead us to shortcut a portion of the puzzles (a lock wasnt locked and the trigger wasnt pushed down). read more

This was our first experience with Clue Carré, and we had SO much fun!!! I wished I could do another room right after finishing our game, but we're trying to space them out since there's only so many rooms available in our area. The great thing about this company is that each room is a private experience. If you book the room for any number of players (even just yourself), the room becomes closed to other parties. You can show up and bring more people than you booked for (just pay for extra players when you get there), but no one outside of your party will join you. You don't have to worry about random people playing the game with you when you get there! We tried "The Vampire Hunter" room. It was SUCH A BLAST!! I highly recommend it! The room, the clues, the vibe are on-theme. The rooms are a little dark, a little creepy, a little mysterious, and super fun! Even the hints you can ask for when you're stuck are on-theme! Some of the tasks we had to accomplish weren't that easy, and we had to ask for a few hints, but even the hints can be a little cryptic and require some thought! There were a lot of tasks to accomplish within an hour, so it's meant for more than two people, but we got very close to the end with just us two. Our lock got stuck and cost us some time at the last second, but if it hadn't gotten stuck, we would have made it all the way through! Overall, the hints, mechanisms, etc. are all really well thought out! Our game guide (Abel) was fantastic too, he was attentive and dropped our hints right away when we asked for it (in clever ways to boot)! I cannot get over my excitement for how FUN this was!!! The only thing about this company that I didn't love was that they didn't give us a few extra minutes to complete the room when we were SO close. At another company, they gave us a few extra minutes when they knew we were close, and they gave us a little bit of leniency because they knew we had only 2 people as opposed to their recommended 4-5. These games can be hard to complete with less people because you can't divide and conquer as much. BUT, I think their policy here is to not give time extensions because they rank their room difficulty levels by success rates. (If they gave too many people extensions to complete the games, all of the success rates would become close to 100% and their ranking system wouldn't work.) Loved Clue Carré!!! This is a very well done and well hosted escape room. My wife and I are in NOLA for vacation, food, fun, of course football, and we decided this would be a fun way to spend one of our free evenings. It was just the two of us in the game together which we really liked working together. The quality of the puzzles was top notch, I really appreciated that Clue Carre incorporates technology with old school puzzle building and riddles. The decoration was a lot of fun too, very well done and immersive, matching the theme of the game. This wasn't just a square room with puzzles to solve all around it. There were 4 rooms in our game that you had to progressively figure out how to get into and how they worked together. Lastly the game master was great, very friendly and gracious since we clearly were terrible at this. There was a screen in the room that had the countdown on it but it also offered timely clues provided by the game master that kept us going when we were clearly stuck. I would've never asked for help but we probably would've also required 4 hours or more to complete the game. At the end of the hour (because we were not able to complete the game even with clues) the game master came in and was very encouraging and helped us finish the puzzles so we could see what we missed and complete the game. She said "you only needed like 5 more minutes", ha. Great experience! read more

We had the best time. My friends and I had a girls day and decided to do an escape room. Kam was our escape room master in the carnival heist room and he was awesome with helping with the clues. This was a fun experience. We had a group of six in the voodoo room. The decorations were cool and appropriate to the theme. Very dim lighting which made it hard to see and find things but fitting given the theme. If you've done several escape rooms already be sure to tell the host not to give you clues! We got too many hints and escaped with 20 minutes to spare. Apparently we were a minute away from breaking the record for fastest escape. Left somewhat dissatisfied because of all the help we received. Be sure to search everywhere! There were some pretty obvious clues that we overlooked. Once you solve one task everything is else is pretty linear. Lots of unlocking boxes. The cost was about $32 a person which was a little pricey in my opinion for what you got. read more

We did a lot of escape room before but this is the first time we were able to immerse ourselves enough into the puzzle to solve it with 9 minutes to spare. Such a fun experience! This was my second visit to this Escape Room venue and both times have been so much fun! We were a group of two adults and two tweens. The first try we failed to escape but this time, we tried a different room and escaped with seven mins left to spare! I think it was good to go back because we kinda knew better what to expect and were better prepared to search for the clues we needed. The staff is always so nice and the facility is very clean. If you haven't been to an escape room yet, give this place a try! It's reasonably priced with plenty of room and time options! Two thumbs way up!!!! read more

Such a FUN time! We were invited to celebrate a friend's birthday at Clue Carré. The hosts are really cool and the venue is neat and clean. There's a lobby meet in prior to your adventure, you sign a waiver, lock up your personal items (no phones or cameras allowed) watch a brief movie (make sure everyone go to the restroom before you go to your room because your time begins exactly at the time you are booked) then you begin! We chose the Vampire Slayer which we found out after the fact only has a 20% success rate! I would say we got to about 88% finished. For those of you who are claustrophobic.. YOU ARE NOT LOCKED IN! I repeat..YOU ARE NOT LOCKED IN! Anyone has the option to walk out the door at any time. If your group gets stumped or you seem to be spending a longer time on one step your host will flash a clue on the clock screen. I definitely want to go back and do this again but let's start with a little bit remedial room instead of the most advanced room they have.. your host will take your picture at the end and post on their Facebook or Instagram. We are still waiting for our picture to post...hopefully they don't post it with a big (Hashtag Losers) under it!!! read more

The best experience EVER!!!!!!!! I can't believe someone gave it three stars in March. I wonder if those people had been drinking alcohol beforehand because there is a clear policy stated about that on the company's website. We were allowed to drink our water in the lobby and throw it away before beginning the room. We did the Revenge on the Bayou room and it was FLAWLESS. The puzzles were so smart, and the room was beautifully designed. I've done another escape room in New Orleans in the past, and this was definitely a superior experience from start to finish. Everything was extremely clever and fun! Our GM, Matt, was also incredible. He gave us witty, yet helpful clues when we needed them, but he didn't give us too many. I would LOVE to go back to Clue Carré. It was the highlight of my trip to New Orleans! read more

The Metarie location looked dated in comparison to others. The staff was friendly but between them and the videos played, instructions were repeated multiple times. It was a bit redundant. We played in the game room and it was ok. Walls were dirty and had finger prints. This location can use an update. I'd prefer to to visit another escape room downtown where it's decorated more elaborately and there's a bit more thought out into the game. read more

We played the French Quarter House of Curiosities and Carnival Heist, as well as the two games in the Kenner location (The Bookie and Alien Encounter). The games in Kenner are pretty easy (it is in a trampoline park, so it makes sense they are kid-friendly) but both were really fun and well-executed. I also really enjoyed French Quarter House of Curiosities, which had a nice set and good puzzles. Carnival Heist was a bit of a disappointment - decor wasn't great and the theme was nothing like what it sounded; just a museum heist and not much to do with a carnival at all. The "Haunted Swamp Room" was my fifth completed escape room (from four different locations in three different states), and while there were aspects to be improved upon, I think that the combination of theming and puzzle for this one was truly top-notch! When looking up escape room options in New Orleans, Clue Carre stood out amongst Yelp and Trip Advisor reviewers, and it is no wonder why! With five different room experience options, there is a good variety of theming to fit all taste. The issue with most escape room experiences is the tendency to be frightening (e.g. Serial killer theme, zombie theme, embalming room theme... bleh!), but Clue Carre has some family friendly options. In an effort to avoid giving anything away, I will summarize and present critiques in the vaguest possible fashion! THEMING I thought the Swamp Cabin theming was wonderful- good set decoration and use of sound! I'd like to have seen it taken just a step further: *Lose the carpet and utilize resin and fake duckweed (you can find that stuff at hobby lobby or Michaels) to further the "swampy" atmosphere. * Maybe paint the ceiling to look more like a tree canopy. *Possible use of lighting affects could take it a step more eeire without making it frightening. Lightning bugs were a nice touch! PUZZLES I applaud the creativity of the puzzles, and it was nice to not be overdistracted by unnecessary and/or irrelevant props/information. My one complaint is the same I have of many escape room experiences: over-use of the "lock box" There are a hundred ways to hide/secure an object, and yet the lock box makes it's prolific, bordering on cliché, appearance again and again in escape rooms. QUALITY I've left two escape rooms upset for having spent the money, but that was not the case with Clue Carre's "Haunted Swamp Cabin" room- in a group of 7, I don't think anybody felt that they didn't get bang for their buck! The room was challenging (but not frustratingly so), interesting and a heckuva lotta fun! SERVICE While this may seem like a strange category for an escape room venue, the people who facilitate the games play a vital role in the overall experience. In our case, the gentleman who introduced the room and game was polite, concise (always a good thing when you're ready to get started!) and seemed genuinely excited about the room! And we, in turn, were therefore more excited. I think that the planning, design and effort that goes into these rooms are often overlooked, but in an effort to change that: BRAVO CC ROOM DESIGNERS!
