Had I known it was an option we wouldn't have rented them. you have to add on things to smash which should be included. I understand TVs, larger items, and additional things; sure...but glass bottles should be included. If they were supposed to be they WERE NOT! We paid for bottles. The ones I've visited previously have plates, glass, bottles, etc.) I completely understand how cost works which is why I purchased a Groupon vs paying regular prices. Also the room is half ass filled with items that have already been smashed and unless you're a huge man ain't much left to do to it. Thank goodness I used a Groupon. They do offer a painting option. The staff was cool; but I personally wouldn't return. The kids did enjoy themselves (their first experience) so that was good. With better organization, communication, and an understanding of what the customer is interested in or expecting this place could go far. The rooms should be prepared for specific age groups because giving preteens ovens and refrigerators that have already been smashed is just crazy.

I booked myself and six young people for an event that was advertised as family friendly. The class started 30 minutes late (tough for an impatient 7 year old) and then the ONLY instruction was, "I would start with the background." I wish this was an exaggeration. Then the instructor sat behind the desk for the duration of the class. When I've gone in the past, the instructor walked us through the painting while they painted on stage and gave tips, often circulating through the class to see if anyone needed help. Not this time. There were no printed instructions either. There was a monitor that displayed the painting but it went off halfway through the class, leaving us to use our phone screen or our imagination to finish. Despite starting thirty minutes late, it ended on time which cheated us out of our full booking. And then the "instructor" had the nerve to put a tip bucket atop a stool standing between us the door. Everyone has a bad day, but this experience was particularly egregious. Coupled with the company's refusal to acknowledge, apologize, or remedy the problem leaves me no other option than to recommend Google users NOT patronize Painting With a Twist Metairie.

It was pretty amazing to see how each girl painted their own unique mermaids! They also have tables and chairs set up to the side for parents and offer drinks. The owner Andrea is warm, hospitable, and was very accommodating. The atmosphere with all of the beautiful ladies felt like home-away-from-home and like I was amongst sisters. The art studio itself is nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. There was no clutter and there was space to move around and be social. The bar is well stocked and has nice options for purchase. I went on a Wednesday night and they have special food and drink on that night which was a plus. Due to our busy time in NOLA we hadn't had time to stop for a bite before the class started and our appetites were ready for the delicious food when we arrived. The artist who led us in creating our masterpieces was kind, patient, and encouraging. At a point during the process I was loosing steam and didn't think I would make it through to finish but even with it 1/2 finished she provided guidance and feedback that prompted me to continue. By the time I got my second wind, I was rocking and rolling! My painting actually turned out better than expected being that I'm an amateur artist. This experience will be one I will never forget nor will I forget the beautiful women who touched my heart and made my trip/birthday celebration extra special! I almost forgot to mention that, Andrea the owner gifted my friend and I two beautifully decorated cups of which we can use to sip our favorite drinks she also gifted us a bottle of wine on the house! The scavenger hunt is fun (asking you to take silly pics), informative (you learn fun facts about the area after you complete a challenge), and easy to do (go at your own pace as everything is done over your phone). I did the Lincoln Park scavenger hunt last yr while in Chicago and that one was a blast as well. Cheap prices ($12 per person) and complete ease of everything makes this tour one of the best and fun ways to learn about your city or a visiting city!!

Because it was corporate, you book a little differently - Marshal gave me a code to do a trial-run of the hunt the weekend before so I could make sure it was appropriate for our group. I sent him a few little tweaks here and there on some of the challenges that I thought were confusing, and they implemented them, which I thought was cool. This was fun, educational, and hit a lot of the spots that I like to take people when they're visiting New Orleans! I'm just sad that I've already done it now, because I'd love to do it again.
