Ancelmo installed this vanity and the sink fixtures.
    Michele D.

I recently completed a project with CM Tile in my master bathroom and wanted to spread the word about this independent business. Ancelmo Molina is the owner and he deserves your consideration. Ancelmo was hired to do the following: 1. Demo my master bath (remove floor tile, tub deck tile, shower wall tiles, remove vanity cabinet, vanity top and two sinks) 2. Install new floor tile, tub deck tile with a mosaic, shower wall tile with a mosaic and niche, install vanity cabinet, tub fixtures, shower fixtures, sink fixtures and a new bathroom ceiling fan. Every time we met, he was right on time (even before I hired him). Each day he left, he told me what time he would be coming back the next morning, and sure enough, there he was. He cleaned up his work before leaving every day, he worked hard with few breaks, and he takes pride in his work. He did an outstanding job and I would recommend him to anyone needing tile, hardwood flooring, painting and general handyman work. I'll be re-hiring him to do my other bathrooms in my house. The work was done exactly as stated on his estimate; there were no surprises, no change orders, nothing other than what I wanted. I solicited four different contractors to give me an estimate for my bathroom. Ancelmo was one of the lowest priced, although I was drawn to him because of the positive reviews he has on Service Magic. Even if he was one of the higher priced bids, I would have hired him based on the feedback from his previous customers and the overall comfort level I felt from him in talking with him. He was clear about what the project entailed, did not try and talk me in to doing anything I wasn't sure about, and seemed very capable of giving me a bathroom I would be very, very happy with. He arrived on a Monday and took all measures to protect my flooring (which is a big deal to me since I don't allow shoes in my house). He and his helper laid an adhesive strip on all of my stairs, placed drop cloths on my flooring, and while working in my bathroom, kept the door closed to minimize the spread of dust throughout the house. He completed the demo in one day. From Tuesday until Friday, he prepared the surfaces for the new tile (backing, thin set, etc); installed reinforcements where necessary to accommodate the new (bigger) tile; laid the new tile; incorporated a beautiful (seriously) mosaic and mosaic backed niche; installed the vanity; installed the fixtures. On Saturday, it all came together when he applied the grout and the sealer. That night, despite not having the granite top in yet or the shower glass enclosure, I stood in my bathroom and just smiled and smiled at the work. The last thing he did was to come back at a later date and install the sink fixtures. To do them both took about an hour. I was extremely happy with Ancelmo. So much so that I left him and his helper alone in my house while they worked. I've never, never left a stranger in any house I've owned, so this is a big deal. He struck me as being honest and trustworthy, and in the end, he proved me correct. True story: when he finished installing my sink fixtures, he had a tool of mine from my garage that he said he was going to put back. Apparently he had used it one day while working and forgot to put it back. Who knows how long I would have noticed its absence (if ever), but at least he had enough integrity to tell me he used it and was putting it back. Not only was it time consuming to meet and "interview" so many contractors, it was exhaustive. I needed a beer at times it go so overwhelming! Now that I've done all the legwork, I know who to call in the future.

Ancelmo did an amazing job with our kitchen tile backsplash. He was on time, worked efficiently, was courteous, and had great attention to detail. I purchased grout and sealant that he did not care for so during lunch he took the time to drive to Home Depot and purchased new products to use. I would HIGHLY recommend his services and I hope to use him in the future for other products. I'm very happy with the look of our kitchen now!

The shower with the tiling is beautiful!

I made initial contact with David on March 17th, we chatted about my project and gave me a quick over-the-phone rate. I'll admit, he sounded like a great guy and I was excited to work with him. We concluded the call with him asking me to send him the info via email including a hand-drawn sketch and the materials I would like to use. I did what he asked and he simply never replied with a formal quote. He was completely resistant to actually sending me a quote, that was sketchy. Over the course of the next week, I texted him so we could discuss the project and I could ensure that he was indeed legitimate and I would ultimately get a quote. (I searched online and he had no Yelp reviews and I couldn't find the name of his company, anywhere, I did, however, find the name "DS Remodeling", however, I can't seem to find any info on them, and they don't have a yelp page that I can find). He never sent me a quote, and as time pressed on (and the project date grew near) I was getting very nervous. Most of his text responses were one-word answers and he only answered my call once, the other times, after he promised we could speak that day, he just didn't answer the phone. I was OK with not having him as a vendor (everything about this experience seems sketchy and I figured the same would be reflected in his work). I had to find a new solution and I only had a short time to do it. Fortunately, I was able to find someone new. And then today he calls me to discuss the project. WHAT??! He was almost completely unresponsive and now he wants to talk about the project? When I told him I had hired another contractor he was upset and said something I could not understand, and then he hung up on me. He texted me saying he's been in constant contact with me (he wasn't) and "Do I have to talk to you every day for a $400.00 job?" No you don't David, but you do need to send a quote and a contract to ensure that both parties are on the same page in terms of the project. Your customer should not have to remind you of that. Projects like this are stressful, people like you make it way worse! Beware when dealing with this guy. **After I warned him I'd be posting on Yelp, it appears all of the sudden a first review from someone else appears, interesting**

I have posted a number of photos to support my review The Good: Great Quote 10-14 Day timeline Great Bathroom design The Bad Labor and materials were about 34% above quote (allowances ended being about 40% above quote). Took 6 weeks, and our tub still can't be used as the drain was improperly installed. Paint job was poorly done. Grout in shower is multiple colors. Chipped tile ( have about 30 extra pieces). Multiple pieces of tile have broken corner edges. Shower floor "wavy" leading to standing water. Shower floor has sharp edges. Shower door upside down. Instead of hiring help I had to help Dave install shower door, move tub and a few other smaller things. I had to pick up of 2000 lbs of material 'because it was out of David's way". I had to help unload b/c that day David had someone to help, but he wasn't able to unload materials on his own.. I had to make multiple 50 mile round trips to pick up supplies that weren't needed. David failed to look at the order form the tile place gave us and didn't look at the materials until the exact moment he needed them.. 2 trips were made b/c David needed additional tile, but never opened the boxes, he measured wrong. David was suppose to come back and fix paint, tile and tub but has not returned calls or text in last two weeks. The thing that really bothers me is the number of issues.. I decided to pay David my remaining balance since he said he would return to fix issues, my mistake yes... At the time he seemed like a man of his word... WRONG!! Going to cost me a few thousand to have someone come in and fix everything that was not properly done In the end my over assessment: Design: wonderful Estimate: Way off! Paint Job: Horrible Craftsman ship: Horrible Communication: Horrible Honesty: Horrible If I had to do it all over again I would have gone with one of the higher estimates. This bath remodel is going to cost me more than if I went with the most expensive option.

Workmanship was awful: Carpentry: Misaligned deck, ramp rebuilt 5 times and still wrong. Painting: No primer, paint peeling, splatter on windows, floors, even personal items. Plumbing: Cardboard left in drains (overflow in less than 1 month), pipes left active in attic (burst, collapsed through 3 floors). HVAC: Unauthorized work patched with duct tape, vents left uncovered. Windows: Wrong orders and sizes, one half the promised size. Everything else was systemic incompetence and mismanagement. Their 5-star rating does not reflect reality. Avoid at all costs.

In all of our years of being a homeowner, we have never delt with anything compared to the situation Vern's Plumbing has delt us. Here's the story... On 4/30 we called Vern's Plumbing to install a new 3 way stop and single straight stop valve for our kitchen sink and dishwasher. We paid $253.17 to have this work done. So far, so good. No complaints here. A couple days after this install, we noticed our hot water pressure from the kitchen sink was virtually nothing. The water was coming out about as wide as the size of your pinky finger while on full blast. My wife and I did not have a water pressure issue prior to Vern's Plumbing coming to our house otherwise we would have had them look at this issue while in our home. The regular water pressure while on cold is just fine so not a dire emergency. There is only no water pressure when the water is put on 'hot'. We called Vern's Plumbing to let them know about our issue which was not an issue prior to their plumber touching our plumbing. The lady service manager at Vern's Plumbing said "no problem, we'll send someone over to check this out by the end of the week. On 5/15, who we believe is the owners, son came over and inspected the sink issue with my wife while I was out on business. My wife rang my phone all afternoon to tell me about the situation which I was unable to answer. When my wife and I finally talked, she said that Vern's Plumbing had their hands in the air and was removing themselves from the situation stating this was not caused by them. My wife mentioned that this was not a problem until Vern's Plumbing touched our plumbing otherwise, we would have had them look at this situation as well. Again, the plumber in our house put his hands in the air and said, "this is not my fault'. The plumber then proceeded to tell my wife to file a claim with Delta the faucet manufacturer and 'TO NOT MENTION THAT A PLUMBER HAD TOUCHED ANY PLUMBING OR THE FAUCET and that if we did, Delta might not honor their warranty. This is a flat out lie. Vern's Plumbing caused this issue to our faucet from their plumbing/work. This was not an issue prior to Vern's Plumbing touching our plumbing. If it was a prior issue, we would have had the plumber address this while in our home. My wife and I honor integrity more than anything and by hearing this come from who we believe is the 'owners' son', this was very disappointing to hear. I received a call at 9:40am from the lady service manager on Friday, 5/16. The conversation was cordial as I could 'hear her kids screaming in the background' figuring she made this phone call from her residence. I finally asked the service manager if she was aware of the situation at my home which she replied' yes, I am'. I told the service manager things inadvertently happen and that we are sure that the plumber broke our faucet on accident due to faulty plumbing. I made mention once again that this was not a problem prior to their arrival. The service manager, like the plumber, removed herself and Vern's Plumbing from the situation as well by throwing her hands up at the situation stating 'this is not our fault and that this was likely due to old fixtures'. We made mention once again this was not a problem until their plumber touched our plumbing. Again, Vern's Plumbing put their hands in the air and removed themselves from the situation. The Service Manager, like the plumber, told us to file a claim with the faucet manufacturer but like the plumber in our home said, not to mention that a plumber had been in the home while filing the claim. We then realized this was not a good situation. Being asked to lie on any business's behalf goes against everything we stand for as a family. I first said 'ok' but then after talking with my wife about this situation, we 100% decided we would not 'lie'. Once it was determined that neither one of us was going to see eye-to-eye on who caused this situation, we finally made Vern's Plumbing an ultimatum. My wife and I will get the new faucet at no charge to Vern's Plumbing, all we ask is 'for Vern's Plumbing to install the new faucet at no charge'. That's it. I did not demand Vern's Plumbing get me a new faucet. I did not yell. I did not scream. All I asked Vern's Plumbing to do was to make things right. We now have to buy a new Faucet which was brand new and installed in 2022. Then, once the faucet is received, we must pay a plumber to install this new faucet. This is going to cost us several hundred dollars and all of this due to Vern's Plumbing making an inadvertent mistake. I feel like our request is fair since Vern's Plumbing did not want to make the situation right. Update: Our credit card company sided with us. We were given a full refund. Stay away and spread the word. Terrible

Easy. Max cost for a job like this would be $500, tops. Small towns, $300 or less. I was told the job needed to charge 4hrs minimum, which isn't uncommon for a small job. The parts were estimated high at $150 and the permit was $100. Then I was told there might need to be drywall work, so they quoted me worst case unnecessarily with the possibility of it being $300 less if that wasn't the case. Quote: $2153. Or around $1800 if it were less complicated. I don't know what plumber charges $400/hr for an apprentice or journeyman level job, but this was crazy. $200/hr would have been crazy and $1000+ cheaper. I ended up doing the job myself for $60 in material with a basic pipe wrench, sealant and 2hrs of my time including a leak check. I don't know if this job was too small for them or if they saw the house/neighborhood and thought they could charge more. Just be sure to get more quotes if you're not familiar with what actually needs to be done and don't be afraid to walk away. They were responsive and Chris was friendly, but that doesn't justify charging 4x a reasonable price.
