If I could give zero stars, I would have! On October 26, Skips' team, consisting of two individuals, arrived at our residence at 9 AM. My husband and I found it unusual that only two people were assigned to handle our move, especially given the substantial size of our furniture. Having relocated twice before, we can confidently say this was the most challenging moving experience we have encountered. 1. The entire moving process took 11 hours to complete. Prior to the arrival of the "professional" movers, my husband and I had already transported the majority of our belongings to a storage unit. We resided in a three-bedroom ranch, which included a desk, two large curios and five smaller ones, a king-size adjustable bed, two dressers, two nightstands, two small end tables, two loveseats, a large, medium, and small cabinet, approximately 15 boxes, several bags of blankets, shoes, and towels, along with a few miscellaneous items. Given the volume of items, an 11-hour timeframe seemed excessive, and we believe four movers would have been more appropriate. 2. The two movers informed us that Skip had dismissed the rest of the team, leaving only the two of them to manage the move without any additional assistance. 3. Unfortunately, they damaged a curio cabinet that we had cherished for 20 years, which was in pristine condition. Originally purchased for $700, a similar cabinet today would cost over $1500. The movers left it on the grass while they went to retrieve a dolly, and a gust of wind caused it to topple, shattering all the glass. One of the movers even had the audacity to ask, "I hope this didn't have sentimental value." Although Skip offered a $300 discount for the damage, we still ended up paying $2000 for what was the most unprofessional moving experience we have ever had. 4. After 11 hours, the move was technically complete, but the organization was lacking; items were placed haphazardly wherever the movers chose, and two items were left in the garage, which they refused to move. 5. When discussing the pricing with Skip, he resembled a used car salesman, presenting numerous fees, including one for the hour-long lunch the movers took. He insisted that I still owed him $2000, even after the $300 deduction for the broken cabinet. 6. I feel compelled to caution anyone considering this moving company: do not hire them! Their level of professionalism is severely lacking, they are dishonest, and they appear to be inexperienced. 7. Once the movers departed, my husband and I began to assess our furniture. We noticed that both bedroom dressers, my other valuable curio cabinet, and the nightstands had sustained several new scratches. Additionally, a less expensive cart had wheels that were broken. 8. I had been in intermittent communication with Skip following the move, as he was supposed to contact his insurance provider regarding both the company and truck insurance. However, it has now been a full month (as of 11/26), and he is no longer responding to my texts or calls. I have strong suspicions that this company lacks proper insurance, or that Skip is indifferent to his clients' concerns. While he may project an image of care, it seems to be merely a façade, reminiscent of a car salesman. read more

NOT professional. This company did not wrap furniture before taking it to the truck. They broke the leg off my most prized piece of furniture, and ruined a mattress. They also left the house after loading without asking me to check that they had everything, and left behind large items that should have gone in the truck. When all of this happened, Skip seemed interested in making things right, but he's strung me along for more than 6 weeks, and I still do not have a resolution. I have not been compensated for the damage in any way. I was promised a professional move, which means wrapping furniture in the house before bringing it to the truck. That didn't happen. Skip and his crew were hired to move my mom from a small in-law apartment in my house in Hancock, NH to a condo in Peterborough. I came home after my mom and the movers had departed for Peterborough. Upon arriving home I noticed tire tracks and torn up grass in my front yard and upon further examination multiple cracked blue stone slates in my front bluestone walkway. Skip's crew had my mom look around and sign that there was no damage before they left Hancock. My mom pulled out of the driveway, the guys pulled across my walkway and down the driveway, and off they went. Obviously, my mom couldn't have known about the damage since it occurred AFTER she left. Blue stone is not cheap. Skip came by the following day to see the damage and asked me how much I thought it would be to repair. I said I had no idea but I'd get an estimate and get back to him. Skip gave me $100 in cash and said to get back to him with the estimate for the remainder. After two months of phone calls for $400, I'll spare you the run around we got, I opened the envelope today to retrieve the check and CMB took it upon themselves to only reimburse us for $200 of the agreed upon $500 and ACCUSE me of having additional work done that was not caused by CMB. He went as far as to inform me that I supposedly Venmo'd my repairman $1,250... I was trying to avoid leaving a negative review for a local ish small business but if there's one thing that I will not tolerate, it's being called dishonest. read more

Things sometimes go wrong, but how things are handled when a mistake is made is really when a company has the opportunity to create a loyal customer or a bad review. In this case, my wife hired this company to disassemble and move some very large, heavy (heirloom) furniture from the second floor of our main house to be stored in the second floor of another building on our property about 100 yds away. The owner, Skip, called in the morning to confirm and spoke to my wife and they discussed the move, the fact that it was going to another building on-site and that steps would need to be taken to ensure the carpets in the home would be protected due to the very rainy weather that was happening at the time. However, when the crew showed up to move it, they came with no tools and only a small car. They didn't have a truck or any tools to help move or disassemble the furniture. Unfortunately, Skip made the mistake of listing it as an on-site move without any of the specifics that would be required to properly prepare for the job. The guys that came were super nice. They even offered to move it to the garage temporarily (because we had a time requirement to make room for new furniture that was coming) and then come back when their schedule permitted to finish moving it to the other building. Unfortunately, Skip wouldn't allow this. Instead, he just decided that they weren't going to move anything and offered to come back another day (long after the new furniture is scheduled to be delivered). Fortunately, we were able to find another company that is scheduled to come the day before our new furniture is set to arrive. Based on the poor way CMB handled the situation, I wouldn't be inclined to give them another shot in the future. The men on-site were in a position to make a call and still meet our needs while maintaining a good relationship with the customer, but the guy ultimately in charge wasn't interested in solving the problem or our needs as the customer. It was more important to just get to the next job early. Micro-management and ego lead to a poor customer experience that was totally avoidable. I'd recommend looking elsewhere for your moving needs. This was pretty painless as negative experiences go. I can only imagine how badly they would have handled accidental damage. Anyone can move your stuff. Making a choice in a provider has to be about the what-ifs. And with CMB, their mistakes are your problem, not theirs. read more

Skip and our movers were great to work with. We moved my 89 year old mother....she was very anxious about the move. The movers came in and looked around the apartment and said...."We got this!" It was a stress free move! Skip stopped by to check on the guys and dropped off a coffee mug for my mother.....I thought that was a nice gesture! He even called later in the day to wish my mother happiness in her new place! A very POSITIVE moving experience! read more

I used CMB Professional Movers to shift some pieces of large furniture for my floors to be redone. Skip, the owner, was very helpful and the cost was reasonable. They were available to help within days of my initial call, and returned promptly after the floor work was done. The two movers were SUPER strong and extremely careful with my belongings. I contacted Skip (the owner of CMB Professional Movers) well in advance of our scheduled move on 10/28/21. He was responsive throughout our communications PRIOR to our move date. When I scheduled our move I specifically told Skip my 2 major concerns. 1. I wanted to ensure that the hardwood floors in the home we sold (moving from) and the home we purchased (moving to) were protected. Skip told me that he would ensure the movers put down padding on the floors. This did NOT happen. When the moving crew arrived on 10/28/21 and I inquired about the padding for the floors they told me that Skip did not put enough padding in the truck to enable them to put any down on the floors. 2. I specifically told Skip that the one item I was most concerned with protecting was our dining room set. Of all the pieces they were moving that day, I wanted to ensure that they were extra careful with the dining room set as it is a very expensive set and it was in pristine condition. The crew arrived on time. They were a talkative jovial bunch, but that didn't really bother us. Three men moved the furniture while 1 "packed" the truck. It took approximately 4 hours for them to pack the truck. I was extremely organized and there was nothing that they had to box up. All of the rooms were consolidated and with e the exception of a small 2-piece leather sectional there was really no large/heavy furniture to move. Once the truck was packed up the crew headed to our new home 30 minutes away. The crew arrived at our new home and began unloading the contents of the truck. The move-in took approximately 4 hours. I had every box marked specifically with the room/location it was to be placed in. I had a sign on each door indicating the room - Master Bedroom, Spare Bedroom #1, Spare Bedroom #2 etc. Even with all my efforts, furniture and boxes landed in the wrong rooms. I ignored this as three of them were bringing items into the house and I couldn't be in every part of the house at once. My husband was outside directing the crew as to where to put items that were going into the basement, shed and garage. I remained in the house to try and direct the crew where to place the larger items in each room. At about 4:00 p.m. the entire crew came into the house and told me they were done. At this time I was in the living room. After an extremely busy week leading up to the move day and an extremely long move day (I was up at 4:30 a.m. preparing) I was admittedly exhausted. I did not walk room to room inspecting everything because I had been as attentive as I could be while they were bringing items in. I had noticed some damage to our leather sectional when they moved it in. The material covering the underside of the sectional was badly torn on both sections (for some reason they had dedcided to place the legs of the sectional which had large screws in them inside the material underneath the sectional) and on top the stitching on on one section was pulled. I decided that if that was the worst thing that occurred all day, I could live with it. The crew told me that Skip would be calling me to give the total for the move. I was paying in cash (a word to the wise...this was a big mistake!). I stayed in the kitchen while the crew hung out and waited for Skip to call. I had been going non-stop for 12 hours that day and at that point I was just glad the ordeal was almost over. Skip called and gave me the total. He initially gave me the wrong total and called back telling me he had to re-calculate the cost (which he increased by over $200). He asked how the move went, and I told him it went good (as that is what I believed at that moment). I wasn't thrilled with the way the crew worked, but I knew when they arrived in the a.m. that this was NOT a professional moving company. This was 4 nice talkative young men who were **** a job. I also believe I signed off regarding the move, however, I never I never received a copy of any receipt or acknowledgement regarding the move. I paid the crew, I tipped each one $50.00 and they left. I sat down for the first time all day to drink some water, then I decided to put some of the empty boxes in the garage. My husband had taken a trip back to our old house to pick up some of the items the movers couldn't fit in the truck (we had to make 2 additional trips on our own). When I walked into the garage I noticed that all of my dining room chairs were still in the garage. The movers had not brought them in. I could not figure out why, but with my husband not there to direct them, I assumed they just forgot about the chairs (although each one of them had to walk by the chairs when they left our house through the garage). At that moment I didn't think it was a big deal. The chairs aren't terribly heavy, so I started to bring them in by myself one by one. We hired CMB Movers, and had two guys help us move from one house and a full storage unit into our new home. These two guys were beyond excellent. Their attitude was always positive, and not once did they balk at a few (I might add) annoying requests we had. They had to move in a new refrigerator, take the existing refrigerator and move it to the basement, and then get that new fridge inside. To accomplish this, they had to basically dissemble the fridge doors and other parts to fit them through the respective doors. Not only did they do it efficiently and properly, they never complained and reassembled the fridges with no problem. I was honestly blown away with their attitude and work ethic. If the two guys who moved me represent how CMB does business, then when I ever have to move again I will 100% come right back to this company. read more

The 2 guys were really great but neither one wore a mask but I was ok with that. My only complaint is that I was under the impression they were coming from the Nashua location, which is about 25 minutes from Salem. But they came from I think Greenville so I was charged for 50 minutes of travel time. A lamp was broken but Skip deducted the cost from my bill. read more
