Kind words and professionalism. The only concern was something we believe is well, not profession or sanitary. We don't believe you should use your hands to open up the popcorn bag! We believe well- that's nasty. You can pop the bag to open the bag, or use the scoop to open but not your hands! Would you do this when you serve a soda- stick your finger or hand inside a cup to dry or clear debris? Look, we asked our cashier not to put their hand inside the popcorn bag and pop it like one of his employees did and we got a weird look- we asked in the most kind, super Disney kind voice- PLEASE DONT STICK YOUR HAND IN THE BAG. PLEASE POP IT OPEN JUST NOT USING YOUR HAND (that's caps here- not yelling). When the employee went to get the popcorn it looked- we believe- he told the manager this (we could be wrong) but even if he didn't , the manager looked to brush off what the employee said and OPENED UP USING HER HANDS THE INSIDE of the POPCORN BAG (yes here I'm escalating emotion). It's just not professional or sanitary. If napkins fall on the ground- throw them away! It's simple. Other than a manager setting bad example the movie was great, the theater was clean (old) but clean, cold ac nice- and nice loud show! (Forgot to add- you can't call and speak to anyone ever. The system is a what I call a Covid system. You know, you can no longer reach the business by phone or email... you have to go to corporate website and fill out a form. I prayed and hoped it was a food or beverage spill, smh. There was food and trash on the floor. Ultimately, I still watched the movie and had a good time. The theater itself was nice, with wide aisles and comfortable reclining seats. We were able to purchase a couple of alcoholic beverages which was a nice addition to our movie time, as well as some popcorn. The drinks were nice and cold and the popcorn delicious. If you really like popcorn purchase the 'extra large' and you get an additional refill. The concession staff were friendly. The young guys manning and scanning tickets to get to your designated theater were okay as well. We will be back to see another movie here, as we enjoy watching them on the big screen, should something worth watching come out (there have been plenty of garbage movies the past couple of years).

In this case though, I'm making an exception because everyone in the Tampa Bay area needs to know about this gem. It's on the second floor of the parking garage at University Mall. Which means you need to navigate around what is left of the mall. There's a separate entrance so you don't have to set foot in the mall itself. The decor is Pee Wee's playhouse and is just as delightful as you would think it would be. They are the top of the game when it comes to special appearances (Kevin Smith was there for two nights, John Waters, Lydia Lunch, Amy Goodman and Todd Solondz have all done Q&As there, just to name a few. Will Oldham has one coming up in September before his performance on the other side of the bay) They show the blockbusters you can see everywhere, but they mix it in with indie films and documentaries that you would have to be in NYC or LA to see otherwise. They also specialize on showing movies on FILM. If you love watching actual film, this is the place that is showing the love! The ticket prices are cheap. The seats are comfortable. The staff is absolutely amazing. The food is far better (and affordable!) than it has any right to be at a movie theater, and they bring it to your seat. There are a TON of vegan options! Which is pretty rare when it comes to going to the movies. It's not just my favorite local movie theater; it's become one of my favorite places in the Tampa Bay region.

No, the options aren't "heirloom tomato and burrata on a wagyu burger", but there are some really fun options and a LOT of vegetarian and vegan friendly choices. And the popcorn, man, I'd skip the movie and just come in to buy some popcorn. They have a make-your-own popcorn station for goodness sake. While one of those big chain theaters is charging you $3 for a sampler size of popcorn seasoning you can get at Walmart, Sun-Ray has an entire bar of seasonings, add ons, butters, oils... You can also load your popcorn in yourself so you can even layer the flavorings. It's ALSO super reasonably priced with one free refill included! They do also have cocktails and mocktails to enjoy your movie with a bit of fun, and they do specials to add to the bigger movies. As for inside the theater, I read a few people complain that the seats don't recline. I'm honestly okay with that because, you know...eating. And the chairs are super plush, the kind you just sink in and nestle into. I love that a lot. The spacing was pretty comfortable, lots of room for guests and servers to walk in front of you. I also really liked that instead of Big Corporation Showings before the trailers start, they were showing fun videos and local ads. To be entirely honest, I'm not likely to go back to those big name theaters very often now. I'm hooked. (And not just for the popcorn but honestly, mostly the popcorn)

We booked 2 tickets and placed an order for food to be delivered to our seat so we don't miss the…read moremovie. When we showed our tickets to be scanned in we asked the guy about our order and he said no worries they will bring it to your seat. We got to our seats at 9:40 pm and the movie starts at 9:45 pm. The time slot for the food to be delivered to us said 9:45-10:05 pm. The movie started around 9:50 - 9:55 pm so we didn't go check on our food. When it was around 10:20 we still didn't get our food so we called the front desk. They weren't pleasant and claimed we weren't in our seats when they came to drop off our order to us so they took it back. Then they said that they will see what they can do and if not we will have to come to the front to get our order. I said we're in the middle of our movie and can't that's why we placed it ahead of time to be delivered to our seat. We were in our seats for the 9:45-10-05 delivery slot. We still hadn't received our order so when there was an intermission we went to the front desk that had the same guy that scanned our tickets in to see what's going on. They said that food department had another manager in charge and pointed us to some elderly lady. When we went to talk to her she right away assumed there was no order like that and said all the orders for that day was done. Then we showed our email with the receipt and she went from having an attitude to being apologetic so fast. Then she said there's nothing they can do about it since the kitchen was closed and that we should've checked on our order before they closed and offered us a refund. This is the worst service I've ever had there. I watch movies there almost every month and never had this kind of experience before. No one wants to take responsibility for the problem and try to help solve it. They just kept pushing it onto another worker. The only reason we placed deliver to our seat option was to skip the long lines they always have. If this is how "deliver to seat" is then I'm never placing an order like that again. Horrible customer service.

Can't sit on the top of the car to make sure people behind can see but that was cool. Of course you can sit in your car, bed of the trucks or even have chairs outside! ( def recommend a radio or something so you can connect to the audio and won't have to run the car the whole time ) We went on a cooler night so we were definitely bundled up.
