I agree with the sentiments of the 1and2 star comments. I tune in the morning... acoustic guitar. I tune in in the afternoon, acoustic guitar. I tune in in the evening - and what do I hear? You guessed it - ACOUSTIC GUITAR. On a daily basis. Don't get me wrong, I even play acoustic guitar and used to welcome Rodrigo et. al. from time to time. It makes me wonder if the programming dept. is attempting to pander to some particular untapped donor base or perhaps it's a personal preference of someone high-up. Along with their habit of playing single movements, war-horses over and over, film, game music and the random contemporary tonally banal composers it's become a Classical Light Easy Listening Station. No wonder Jim took off running.

Classical KUSC is now "Classical Lite," playing only snippets of works. Multimovement pieces - symphonies, concertos, etc. - are whole works by their composers, not independent pieces arbitrarily stuck together. In the Dvorak piece the first movement anticipates the last movement, unifying his creation. Playing only the first movement is like playing only the first 20 minutes of a 90 minute film. KUSC is doing violence to classical music and demeaning classical composers.

Yes, the play list can get repetitive at times but......I can't complain! These are my jams! Whenever "Running with the Devil" starts playing, I crank it up all the way, pretending I'm Eddie Van Halen rocking out that guitar solo or David Lee Roth singing my brains out!!! I can't get enough of driving 'Burbank,' CA., is primarily due to all these TV and News channels all existing in the 'City of Burbank.' I was able to capture their beautiful combo of neon lights out front this past trip to the 'City of Burbank,' CA. Nickelodeon is the PG TV channel where they showed Cartoon Network like 'SpongeBob' and a few other teenage shows that were popular. It must be a super fun job working for Nickelodeon as I can imagine.... Also learned that ABC Studios isn't far away from Nickelodeon either. I will be back again next time in daylight instead of night time....so beautiful!!!! It's no t just these neon lights, but all of Burbank, CA., is just gorgeous to drive around at night due to most everywhere all lit up.

They divided up the event into two nights. People who bought tickets for the first night paid more and had less artists perform. The artists hardly played any songs and they had better artists on the second night. The tickets didn't even sell out the second night and they went on sale because they couldn't see them. Never attending another Calibash. Thankfully, 93.9 Cali exists. Much better radio station.

There is the obligatory Triple Play Thursdays but I love their My Turn feature on Sundays. Their music is good with less of the softer stuff and more hard and eclectic stuff. Hey, I'm diverse! I heard Ac/DC and Jesus Jones (right here right now) the other day and it made my day! The guy who says 'the Sound' is mellow. Their commercials don't have that schlocky feel to them that KLOS has (sorry). They seem honest and mature. When a song I don't like from another station comes on, I always go to The Sound and I find their commercials (or non music stuff) more interesting and cool sounding than other stations music. Now that is saying something! Their dj's are mellow and knowledgeable about tidbits of music I didn't know and I love that. There is a guy who does commercials who has a sexy ass voice but no clue if he's a dj or not. Great station all around. PS- I forgot one more thing - they play the LONG versions of songs, like then entire intros. I love this.

It was a grueling open-ocean race dominated historically by only men. But in 1989, a young woman put together an all-female crew to challenge that. The Document invited hundreds of KCRW members to attend, so I RSVP'd. And I'm glad that I did. They had stations for weaving and a badge/story telling set up. In addition, there was a full day of scheduled music events that were hands on and allowed children to use the musical instruments!
