Sure! Here's a polished review of the Coachella Valley Vista Point, based on your We made our way to Coachella Valley Vista Point early in the morning, just as the first light was breaking over the mountains. The timing was perfect -- the desert air was still crisp, and the winding drive up Highway 74 was quiet and peaceful. As we pulled into the overlook, the expansive view of the valley below felt almost surreal. From this vantage point, you get a panoramic sweep of the entire Coachella Valley -- Palm Desert, Indian Wells, and beyond -- with the early sun casting long shadows over the desert floor. There's something incredibly calming about watching the sky shift from soft purples and oranges to a warm golden hue as the sun rises. It's a moment that feels both vast and personal. There's a decent amount of parking. No vendors or restrooms, just pure, unobstructed nature. It's the kind of spot where you can breathe deeply and just take it all in. If you're staying in the area -- especially Palm Desert or Palm Springs -- this is a must-visit, particularly at sunrise or sunset. It's a quick drive but offers a long-lasting memory. We left feeling refreshed, inspired, and reminded of how beautiful the desert can be when viewed from above.

CA 01-2024 #bucketlisttriplisatony2024 Coachella Valley Vista Point at Palm Springs, California Tony and I had to climb twisty turning narrow winding road for over 7 miles high up about 4 000 feet to reach the Vista Point. It is gorgeous In the pictures what your looking at is the winding roads mixed into the desert tan sandy rocks..below is the cities of Palm Springs and Desert Palms, California. These mountains are the Santa Rosa and the San Jacinto Mountains and we are getting ready to enter the Santa Rosa Indian Reservation a little further up the mountain past this Vista location where I'm taking these photos. Definitely worth a quick visit if you're in the area, all Free to enjoy!!!

Phenomenal view day and night ----- Concise Review Awe-inspiring views by day Awe-inspiring views by night Go, go often and relax and enjoy the view If you are there at night... Turn your headlights off as soon as you enter the parking lot, for courtesy of the eyes and cameras of other people already there. ----- Longer Review We have visited Palm Desert many times over the years. Some trips we start in San Diego / Orange County, then drive to the desert, other trips we reverse the desert and the beach. When we do this we typically avoid the Interstates and California Highway 74 is the way into Palm Desert, Palm Springs, and the rest of the towns in the Coachella Valley We visited Southern California - Palm Desert, Yucaipa, and Malibu - for Spring Break 2021. This trip we flew in and out through LAX and did drive the interstate. One night after dinner we weren't quite ready to go back to the room, and my wonderful wife thought about driving up the mountain to the lookout point. I'm glad she recommended that. We drove to the intersection that is Monterey Ave to the right / North and Hw 74 to the left / South. The first couple miles are a more gentle climb as you're still officially in Palm Desert. Then the road reaches the San Jacinto Mountains and the house have given way to the hillsides, and the road grade gets steeper. Looking at the map / satellite image, it appears that there are only 7-8 180-degree switchback turns from the bottom to Vista Point, but it feels like more... in a good way. The road is fun to drive... and still you need to be alert, aware. There are guardrails but you need also be careful for yourself and for/from other drivers. When you get to Vista point, and park, and get out... and look over the railing, and when you look up at the extra stars you see overhead... you may have your breath taken away. Beautiful views! We were able to make out many more stars; we saw a plane or two, landing at Palm Springs (PSP) and heading into LAX. Best... we could follow the road and see where we stay. We could see the patterns of the streetlights as they changed red, green, yellow and repeated. Several streets have them timed together so... many were red and then, all together, they were green. Interstate 10 glows east-to-west-to-east. Then a gap and you see Desert Hot Springs. I was able to capture some night images with extended exposure times (thanks to Cocologics' ProCamera app)... and then it was time to head back to our room. !!! Recommendation: Turn your headlights off as soon as you enter the parking lot, for courtesy of the eyes and cameras of other people already there. !!! To all who had the idea to create, and those who designed, to those who built, to those who maintain the Coachella Valley Vista Point Lookout - THANK YOU for this view! ----- ----- -----

A fun place to stop off on the way down the Pines to Palms switchbacks. Best viewing opportunities are at dusk or at night. It's not the most impressive vista point during the day. Tip - If you want a more educational view point experience check out the Cahuila Tewanet Vista Point ( 5.3 miles up the Pines to Palms hwy). Very cool views and several informative plaques tell the history of the area, the animals, and the Native Americans' lifestyles in this valley. DANGER - Don't cross the highway going up the switchbacks trying to access this view point. It's on a blind curve and very dangerous. Only access on the northbound (downhill) lane.

This would be a great stop to catch in the views that go on for miles. You will also see below the rest of the winding road that will eventually lead you into town. We stopped here on a late Sunday morning and there were only a couple of other cars in the lot. There is plenty of parking, but I'm sure this spot could fill up. There's a nice wall that you can sit on safely and enjoy the views.

Coachella Valley Vista Point- been there 2x , and this is what we see ! Not a pleasant view!!

Disappointed with Coachella Valley Vista Point ... we've been there 2x and it's dirty and filthy with garbage. Not a pleasant place to go or stop :( .

    Nature at arms length!

It's one of my favorite places for sunrise viewing! Not only beautiful but also peaceful

This is a very nice sunset or sunrise spot driving from the Pine to Palms, I love stopping, stretching my legs.

Very nice spot to stop and stretch your legs. CalTrans or Palms Springs or some government entity keeps the place up nicely.

It is located right on Highway 111 & is the Focal Centerpiece of Town Square Park. Both Adults & Kids will find it a place to have some Fun & Relax. The continuous sound of flowing water & the color palate really calms the Soul. There are benches all around so you can sit down & Chill Out. The fountain's design is a spiral motif, which is a symbol of rejuvenation & continuous birth. This artistic fountain's composition also incorporates a recirculating water system. When the desert temperatures hit the over 100 mark & you are looking for an inexpensive way to Cool Off; this is a perfect place to Beat the Heat! This place is picturesque during the day but it really comes to life at night with the colorful lights placed to highlight its artistic features. The Fountain of Life was designed by artist Jennifer Johnson with architect Reuel Young. It was physically built by The House of Stone and Fountains & Landscape Enhancements. The fountain was carved out of pieces out of adoquin stone from the quarry near Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Johnson spent more than a year adorning the fountain with hand cut glass & mosaic tiles. The Fountain of Life Reflects the history & nature of the desert community. There are 3 central columns made of Stone. The big horn sheep, fishes, lizards, tortoises, birds, shells, wildflowers & others, all surround the Sculpture. These are elements that are native to this area from both the present & the past. The rooster and hen represent the importance of family in multi cultures. A Cahuilla basket pays tribute to the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, who gifted the soft surface which helps enhance the safety factor for Kids. The fountain's tri-color soft surface is made of ground recycled tires. Buddy and Beverly Rogers became the fountain's first major donors. There is Free Parking in the area & there are shops, eateries, statues, & The Mary Pickford Movie Theater ( a huge film actress from the 1920s) all in the same location. Every November this area is the host where The Hot Air Balloon Festival takes place. Hot Air Balloons from around the country come to decorate the desert skies with Light, Music, Food & some Paid & Free Festivities too. Free to visit and you can enjoy the cactus garden and wander around the gardens. Museum and gift shop as well as cafe is on sites. But this visit, we took the tour of the Annenberg property. Tour is about 90 min and about 60.00 per person. They do recommend you come a little early to view and enjoy the main building where the cactus garden was but we were a little behind and made it right before the tour started. The tour host 7 person per guided tours. We start off at check in and then met with our guide, Hema. At the beginning you start off on the golf carts where your guide gives you an introduction to the family and the property. The gate into the main residence is around the corner from the public property. It's amazing to see how someone turned a barren desert landscape into an oasis. The brief cart ride to main door was quite nice. A massive golf property hidden in the desert. Once you approached the main property, it's welcomed by a massive water feature. A knock on the double doors lead you into the lobby of the house. Just walking into the property, it's a true MCM oasis. To find out the property only has just the primary bedroom was insane as it was massive. Theres no picture allowed inside but outside was fine. Hema, very detailed in everything she explained was very sweet and detail oriented. Walking through the different rooms and seeing all the amazing things collected by both Walter and Leonore Annenberg was quite interesting. The office which house all of Walter's work, pictures of family, friends and political figures. The different room that's in the main house, their amazing artwork which some are the original pieces. Then you have the way they lived, very elegantly. Each room had their own unique style. The designer and architect sure had their hands full with detail designed of everything on site. The furniture, one of a kind design with amazing embroidery. Walter had an amazing collection of artwork and sculptures. Seeing them throughout the house and the way it was displayed in different room of the house was spectacular. Even the kitchen was nice. Still fully functional as it's still used for summits. The outside alone is one in a million. The massive property with many lakes that is fully stocked for fishing. The golf course which is a golfers heaven. And then you have the pool with a million dollar view of the mountains as the backdrop. Not only the main house, there's the guest house which is utilized for guest. And they're know by different color rooms. And by that, it's fully decorated in the color palette. That building also all looks out to the pool and mountain. Leonore, with her favorite color yellow also had a rose garden designed in the property. The tour lets you inside the lives of the Annenberg and the amazing lives they've lived. Housing major political figures, celebrities and the amazing parties had. The massive art collection and endless photos of everyone, it was a sight to see. This is a tour worth checking out and learning about the Annenberg. Plus, Hema our tour guide was excellent.

The visitor center itself is spacious and beautiful, with an outdoor deck where you can watch the tram travel up the mountain. Round-trip admission was about $35 with military discount, and the tram ride to the top took around 10 minutes. Once you arrive, the views are absolutely breathtaking. There are three levels to explore with restaurants, seating areas, exhibits, a theater, and access to hiking trails. This was such a fun experience, and I'd definitely come back. There is no signage, and we were not informed of this, so when we got back at 9pm (the top was open until 1030 this night), we waited (along with 2 other couples) for a while. I truly thought, as a tourist location, someone visiting their first time being dropped off in that spot - would assume you'd get picked up there as well. Only upon going back up and in and asking were we told this & that a security officer drives around and helps to take people to their car. My bf ended up walking down to grab the car. While I waited, I noticed a security officer leave the main building and walk to his truck and even though he saw me, didn't acknowledge me. Keep in mind, this is the same officer who was busy chatting to the front desk girl when we got off the tram and heading out. Sometime later, a security truck drove right by me and never stopped. I was a female alone & didn't even acknowledge me. Within a few minutes, my bf showed up and was telling me how he literally had 2 bobcats (1 small and 1 bigger) walk in the short distance by him at one point and then how dark it was when he left the top parking lot. Literally it was pitch black and we drove by the lot we were in. They do have solar panels connected to light fixtures, but apparently none of those work in any of the lower lots. You're literally in the mountains and the location is running still... why would they not have the shuttle running until closing? Why wouldn't they have lights set up for those expected to walk back to their cars anytime after sunset? Also, my bf told me he actually was in that security truck when it drove by as the guy did eventually pick him up in the dark but seemed irritated to actually work and had picked up 1 of the other couples - ignored the other and ignored me even though my bf had said that other couple was also walking to their car in the dark and that I was with him. The guy seemed mad and irritated and even kept making noises of frustration in the short time he was with him. Honestly, the above situation is what dropped my view down from 5 to 3. Just ridiculous. As for the location at the top, it's a cool spot to visit (even if you don't hike or plan to camp). There's a very quick "museum", a little shop, a bar, cafeteria style food area and a restaurant that we ate at. Those employees were all very nice and the food was good. Overall, I wouldn't be back though.

Everyone here made us feel welcome and were very understanding of our situation. It's a beautiful and spacious library -- inside & out. There's a bunch of different sections to sit depending on your mood. There's also an outdoor patio that came in handy to warm up every now & then because the AC inside is extremely frosty.
