    Current progress. White hides nothing!
    Colleen H.

It felt like one morning I woke up and had blown up overnight. A ~50lb weight gain snuck up on me, and I was suddenly unrecognizable to myself. Physically, I was uncomfortable and unhealthy, but the mental toll of going from a normal weight most of my life to being obese was worse. It totally destroyed my confidence and I had to do something. So I found Daphne. Daphne appealed to me because she had been there herself. We were roughly the same starting weight. Truthfully, powerlifting didn't particularly interest me. It wasn't even really about health. I just wanted to not be fat. When we first met, Daphne thoroughly went over nutrition and outlined an exercise plan. She was empathetic and encouraging but set realistic expectations. I was impressed with how knowledgeable Daphne was and excited to get started. After my first session with Daphne, I threw up. I had never worked out like that in my life and immediately wanted to quit. But I told myself, ok, try one more week. One week turned into another and then another, and I still wanted to quit, but it's not like I had anything else going for me, so I kept at it. Slowly, it started to get easier (but never easy). Daphne kept challenging me and I got stronger. I enjoyed my time in the gym, not because I liked exercising really, but because I liked seeing the changes in my body and working with Daphne. She treated me like a friend. The benefits weren't just physical, though, but mental too. The number of times Daphne would tell me to try something, and I'd say, "I can't", and then I tried and could do it are too many to count. I was regaining some sense of control in my life, showing myself I was stronger than I thought, and fixing whatever led me to obesity in the first place. One of the best pieces of advice Daphne gave me was that the effort you put into the gym is exactly what you get out of it. She's given me other great advice too, but you have to pay for that yourself ;) Daphne is an excellent trainer, while I am a difficult client. She deals with my moods and knows when to push me and when to take it easier. Daphne gets to know you as a client and adapts sessions to what works best. It's not a copy/paste one-size-fits-all type of training. And she makes it fun, too. I've tried things I never thought I would, like picking up a huge stone. I've learned to love the ab wheel. I'm no longer intimidated by gym equipment. But I still hate pushups and always will. We've worked together for a few years now, but I didn't always listen to her nutrition advice. Over the first year or so, I experienced a body recomposition and felt healthier and more confident. I think I had to do that first to be able to get serious about my diet. So at the beginning of this year, I cleaned up my diet. Now I've lost almost 40lbs, which I couldn't have done without Daphne. When I first started seeing Daphne, I was a size 14/16/XL and am now usually an 8/10/M. While I'm almost at my initial goal, my goals have also evolved thanks to Daphne. What sets her apart and makes her such a fantastic trainer is that she sees things in you that you don't see yourself. So while the number on the scale is always going to matter to me, it's not the only thing that matters anymore. Now I have goals like being able to do a pull-up, strengthening my back, toning my arms, and maybe one day having abs. This hasn't been easy, and it's taken a long time, but it also took time to gain so much weight. If you find yourself in the same position I was and need to make a change, I can't recommend Daphne enough.

Junior CA State Bench Record Holder and 1st place in my weight class!
    Michelle C.

I've been training with Daphne for a little over a year and my initial goals were to lose weight and get stronger. Daphne was really great in teaching me the proper ways of nutrition and exercises that helped me grow stronger. I had always been on and off about my training but Daphne stayed persistent in keeping me in check daily or weekly to check in on my mental health as I was going through this whole life changing lifestyle. She continued to push me out of my comfort zone in order for me to exceed. She later nudged me to go back into competing for powerlifting and had changed our program in order to get me ready to break a state record. The programs were not cookie cutters and it was definitely individualized in order to help me with my flaws and muscle development. Happy to say that with her help, I was able to get Junior state record for bench and PR's all across the board! She kept me on my toes and I couldn't appreciate her enough for helping guide me to further my fitness journey! I would 100% recommend having her as a coach as she's straight up and honest with you. There's no cookie cutter program that's cut and paste so it's super individualized to you and she's always easily reachable via text! Best coach out here

Definitely a 10/10 experience training with Daphne! She will observe your physical good habits and bad ones to tailor your training program that will help you achieve your fitness goals. Whether you are a beginner or experienced athlete, you will 100% learn something new through her program, and the result is guaranteed!

    Started at 160lbs

Exactly one year ago today, I made a commitment to myself to be healthy. Last summer, I weighed 160 lbs, the heaviest I've ever been in my life. I was not in control of my life, my mental health was in the toilet and my physical health suffered because I could not and did not know how to cope. It was a struggle. I did not know a single thing about weightlifting, dieting and fitness in general. *Enter Daphne* I had no idea what I was thinking when I signed myself up for this reconditioning phase of my life. Little did I know I gained a knowledgeable coach, therapist, and friend - actually, many friends. It was not easy in the beginning to be told over 1/3 of my body was pure fat, that I was borderline obese, and that my mobility sucked. I couldn't do a push up, deadlift, had a flat & fat a$$ and was STILL convinced I was *fine*. I cried over stupid things (still do), fought & whined every step of the way for the first 3 months and yet she put up with it. Growing pains I tell ya ... but I've got to say, she helped me feel confident in myself and was excited for me to deadlift 95lbs, to be able to do 10 push ups in a row, to relearn how to eat properly & be satisfied, and to own my mistakes (like when I had McDonald's on my 2nd day of tracking). Of course with consistent dieting/tracking, hours of practice & training in the gym, the weight fell off, my muscles grew and I gained confidence in myself. My mental health is still being worked on but has improved drastically because of fitness. You can see it in the pictures. Oh, and my favorite part, I have an butt now. I can do way more than 10 push ups- I do weighted push ups, I recently was able to deadlift 225lbs, my relationship with food has improved and now everyone that has ever teased me now teases me about my JUICY FAT A$$. In these pictures you'll find me anywhere from 137lbs-160lbs .... I am currently the happiest 145 lbs of a person you'll ever meet. I am not skin and bones. I worked hard to be here. So thank you Daphne. I am a happier and healthier me because I have you to believe in me! 10/10 recommend

    Mel O.

I came to Daphne at 214 lbs with over 42% body fat. I am 5'2 so that is considered morbidly obese. I also had a toxic relationship with food, irregular periods and a broken heart from my past relationship. I was stuck in diet culture and I thought that I could out train my nutrition. Nothing worked so I knew I had to try something different. I reached out to Daphne on IG and filled out an inquiry. She replied in less than 2 hours and set up a time and date to meet in person. The day we met, she spent almost 2 hours with me, getting to know my past, learning my likes and dislikes and writing out how we could reach my goals and dreams together. We both knew there was a lot of work to be done but she said to me: "It will happen!". That same night, she emailed me my customized macros and a specific training guide to do on my own. The following Monday, we started 1:1 training. I'm not going to lie, it was tough! But I never felt so accomplished in a single workout in my whole life and I've trained with many experienced bodybuilders. Fast forward to 6 months later. I am weighing in at 170 lbs, the lowest I've been since high school (I'm 27). My periods have been consistent for the past 4 months. I finally learned how to fuel my body with healthy nutritious foods and I no longer let the insecurities of my past relationship control me. In between that time, I developed my passion for Bodybuilding. I was scared to say it out loud but as soon as I told Daphne, she was nothing but supportive! We immediately changed my training to focus more on form, size and symmetry since my goal is to be on stage in October. Believe it or not, we are just getting started. It's true what they say: "you get what you pay for." And Daphne is worth every penny. If you give her 100%, she will give you 110% in return.

That was my first serious injury and I knew it was a bit of a wake up call and I had to prioritize my fitness and health. I contacted Fitness SF to get a membership and information on a trainer that specialized in getting back to it after an injury. After I signed up they assigned Albert as my trainer. Albert from day one explained the approach he would take to help build me back up after this injury. Albert put together a good plan that we have stuck to for the past few months. The results speak for themselves after training with him for almost three months now. He helped me tidy up my diet as well and I have gained 5lbs of muscle and lost 3lbs of fat. I feel stronger than I have in a while and my back is feeling 100%. While I had to do the work to get there, Albert was the X factor in the progress I have made. If you're lucky enough to have Albert as your trainer, expect to work hard and get real results!

I've been to the Transbay and Castro locations and am excited to see what they have in store for Polk. I have a friend that likes to swim at their Fillmore location as well. I adore the dog room they have at SOMA and it always brightens my day seeing the cute furry faces. I feel like this gym is a lil pricey without the special, with the special I have its about $100/month, on their website it's $135ish rn. The most I've paid in the city was $125 and that was a family owned small business. I wouldn't pay $135 tbh. I do appreciate that there are multiple locations you can go to and experience tho. SOMA is my go to as it has the most equipment and free weights and is closer to me. Trans bay does feel a lot cleaner and newer but also I feel like I'm walking up and down a lot and the flow of the machines isn't as good imo. Castro is pretty tiny ngl but they can't really control that. During busy times the wait for machines isn't too long and there's more duplicates of equipment compared to the other locations I've been to. Plenty of squat racks on both sides of the gym with platforms which is really nice and 3 different areas with free weights. They provide chalk which has helped me with my lifts and grip strength goals. I do think the locker rooms for the women could be modernized a little more like transbay but it's good for what it is tbh as they provide feminine products and hair dryers. I do want to try the sauna and massage chairs. I've also used the InBody scanner and theraguns. The SOMA location also has ample parking nearby that isn't paid parking so that's nice too and also a Lyft bike stop. I have had a friend who's light was stolen outside tho so I would be mindful if you're biking here. Overall, would recommend if it's in your budget and you are nearby. Random but I loved how they decorated it during Pride wish it was like that all year lmao Anyways I will say I agree with the other reviewers about BO but it's a gym and ppl get musty/musky, you might smell some B.O. occasionally but it's temporary and then you end your workout seeing an adorable doggo so then you forget lolll

Honestly it used to be fine. Lately I've PRIMARILY been using the treadmills, but guess what?? EVERYTHING IS BROKEN! I sometimes only have time to go after work, when there is a huge line!! Multiple weight machines are all broken and old as well upstairs. Tons of people came for the basketball courts, which they closed down! The same machines were broken for so long that I complained to the front desk. They told me that they "put in multiple requests, but it takes weeks for the repairmen to come. Once they do, there are new machines that break after the broken ones have been fixed." Why would it take weeks to repair machines, just to have them break over and over and over? I've never seen this many broken machines at any other gym. The workers also yell at us to get out once we get close to closing time. A few times I was changing in the bathroom, and someone told me over and over again that the gym was closed and to get out. Should I just run out naked? I've heard them yell over the intercom, and make unprofessional "gen z" noises and screeches. Honestly if I didn't get charged the stupid "initiation fee" and "annual fee" I would COMPLETELY run the other way, no hesitation. Literally we should get reimbursed for the trauma we are experiencing and all our time wasted!!

Even though the membership costs over $100 per month, and I knew I would only be able to use it a few times each month due to my schedule, I decided it was still worth joining so I could swim. Overall, I would rate the facility about 2.5 out of 5 stars. The staff does make an effort to keep the gym clean, but because it gets so busy, some areas can still be messy at times. The main reason I joined was for the swimming pool. Unfortunately, I found that the pool is almost always crowded. I tried visiting on different days and at different times, but most of the time all the lanes were occupied. Occasionally I could swim right away, but more often I had to wait anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes before a lane became available. However, the biggest reason I'm giving this gym only 2 stars has nothing to do with the pool--it's because of security and parking. My primary transportation is an electric scooter. I initially tried driving and parking in the garage, but I repeatedly experienced problems with the parking gate. On several occasions it took me 10-15 minutes just to leave because the security gate malfunctioned and someone from the Fillmore Center had to come reset it. It was frustrating, especially when I was in a hurry. Because of that, I started riding my electric scooter instead. I used it only three times. On my third visit, I locked my brand-new scooter with a $60 security lock to the bike rack directly in front of the main entrance, where people are constantly walking in and out. After my swim, I came back and my scooter was gone. I immediately reported the theft to the front desk. They told me they were not responsible and that I needed to contact Fillmore Center Security. When I contacted them, they said they first needed a police report before they could assist me. I went to the police station, filed a report, and returned with the paperwork. I then asked what they could do to help. They said they would review the security camera footage to try to identify the person who stole my scooter. Since it happened right at the main entrance, I believed the cameras would clearly capture the incident. I was then told to come back the next day to speak with the security manager, Sean. Unfortunately, he wasn't available. After several unsuccessful attempts, I finally obtained his direct phone number from the security department. I texted Sean multiple times explaining that my insurance company could not process my claim without the surveillance footage. He repeatedly told me he would send the footage to my insurance company. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Despite his assurances, my insurance company never received anything. Eventually, my messages went unanswered. This was extremely disappointing because obtaining the footage should have been straightforward if the security cameras were functioning properly. Without that evidence, I couldn't complete my insurance claim for my stolen scooter. At that point, I decided to cancel my membership. Because of my busy schedule, my scooter is my primary way of getting to the gym. If I don't feel confident that it will be safe--or that I'll receive meaningful assistance if something happens--it's simply not worth the risk. After reading other online reviews, I realized I wasn't the only person who had experienced security-related issues at this location. That was even more discouraging. I'm not writing this review to discourage everyone from joining SF Fitness. If you walk to the gym or have another reliable way to get there, you may have a completely different experience. My purpose is simply to warn those who rely on electric scooters or bicycles as their primary transportation. Be aware of the potential risks, and understand that if your property is stolen, you may find it difficult to get the assistance or documentation needed afterward. I genuinely hope my experience helps others make an informed decision before joining.

I was referred through the Four Seasons and booked spa services while in town for a week. While I paid full price and tipped accordingly, the overall quality of my services was disappointing. My facial, in particular, was not up to standard. I've had a HydraFacial before, and this experience was noticeably inconsistent. The serums that are typically left on the skin were removed, which was surprising and not in line with what the service should be. Meanwhile, my friend received a completely different (and much better) version of the same facial, including additional modalities and proper finishing--this level of inconsistency is a huge red flag. The massage was also underwhelming. The technique felt minimal and lacked intention, especially compared to my friend's experience, where she described a thorough, tension-relieving service that clearly went above and beyond. I did bring my concerns to the front desk staff before leaving, specifically about both my facial and massage. Unfortunately, the response was disappointing--they looked at each other as if unsure how to respond and offered no feedback, follow-up questions, or attempt to address the situation. At that point, I simply paid and left. (I will add that our initial encounter with the spa front desk girl who gave us a tour was exceptional and had great customer service etiquette. Sadly, she left as I was changing.) Customer service unfortunately didn't improve afterward. I inquired about Pilates Reformer sessions, and the front desk staff were less than helpful. I also followed up via email and didn't receive a response until a week later--which, again, is disappointing for a business of this caliber. Overall, between the inconsistent services, lack of accountability on-site, and delayed customer support, I left feeling that the experience did not reflect the price point or reputation. I had high hopes, but sadly, I'm not very impressed.
