On February 18, 2023 which was a Saturday, I went in for a cleaning and was charged $90. I asked the young lady why I was being charged and she couldn't accurately tell me why other than informing me it's my portion and that she wasn't sure why, l thought that was odd especially when I've got my insurance on file. A few days later I contacted my insurer and explain the situation and they went through my benefits and informed me that my cleaning is free, I submitted a proof of payment to my insurer and waited to be reimbursed. After a few weeks of waiting, I contacted my insurer and they informed me that the dental office submitted a claim a for the exact amount I paid out of pocket and I was not supposed to be charged. Then told me that the provider needs to reimburse me. So on October 13, 2023, I went in for a scheduled cleaning and brought it up and the young lady at the front desk couldn't explain why I was asked to pay and that it was a different crew that works on the weekends (Saturday ). she then proceeded to tell me that my cleaning is tree per my insurance, I responded I'm aware. She asked for the last 4 numbers of my card so that she can process my refund and that it was a "different " department that takes care of it. I waited until December 19, 2023 to inquire once again and I was told to give my last 4 numbers of my card so that they can reimburse me and you guessed it, no reimbursement. Today 01/17/24 I went in to have my tooth extracted and no mention of my reimbursement was mentioned and at this point, I'm over having to ask a service provider to do right by me and its patients and having to run you down for an reimbursement . what's displeasing to me is the fact that they would charge which they shouldn't have but to turn around and submit a claim soon after is very low. That shows a lack of integrity to do right by patients and a total disregard for account keeping. The dental hygienist and the doctors are not to blame, this is a front desk issue because I spoke to them twice and gave them ample time to correct this matter . February 18, 2024 will be a year since l was charge for a service I wasn't supposed to be charge for and l've yet to be reimbursed. I will further research within the state how to file a complaint against this service provider , they need to be held accountable or even penalize for how they do business . On 01/18/2024 I contacted customer service at 9:26AM Eastern Time ( Humana Dental ) and explained my situation once again , the same way I did back in February / March of 2023 to express my frustration and explore my options concerning my service provider. Amber from customer service was exceptional , she listened to my frustration/grievance , didn't interrupt, which showed her attentiveness and even went as far as contacting Coast Dental Altamonte Springs to investigate. I was too fed up with the treatment that i had received from this dental office to stay on line as she inquired about my reimbursement . After a a few minutes of holding, Amber returned online and informed me that she spoke to Julia at the front desk and that they had submitted my concerns to corporate on 01/2/2024 and that corporate will investigate the matter . This incident took place in February 18, 2023 , I was more than patient with Coast Dental of Altamonte springs . I made mention of it to them in October and December of 2023 . For them to informed Amber that hey submitted my complaint to corporate on 01/02/2024 proves to me they were giving me the run around asking me for my credit card info to be reimbursed. On December 19, 2023 I made an appointment to be seen on 01/09/2024, which they cancelled and I'm beginning to think the only reason they allegedly submitted my complaint on 01/02/2024 because I was scheduled to be in for a cleaning . It's May 22, 2025 and you guessed it, I never received my $90.00 , which was never supposed to be charged and they would up to this point send me text messages to make an appointment for my regular cleaning . I would I do that , they're morally bankrupt and lack integrity, I'm guessing that's their motto . read more

When I 1st started going there the front staff was nice., and very welcoming. I have know idea why the nice vibes left over the course of my visits, from the happy faces to the the prune unhappy to see you there looks. The lack of compassion they have for what you may be going through. The office manager and her assistant Tiffany have a great relationship with themselves, and in my opinion they lack professionalism. I was talking to the office manager about Ms. Tiffany and instead of taking the conversation to the back she sat right there and let me vent to her in front of Tiffany . She pretty much just was defending her friend Tiffany, by saying she's my assistant, and she's here to help me. Very unprofessional in my opinion. She (The Office Manager )was sitting right there when the situation happened, so as an office manager why wouldn't you intervene in the conversation that was getting a little heated between Tiffany and I. Instead, the office manager just decided to sit there and let the confrontation happen. How do I know that, I was there, and when I called back to talk to the office manager, she confirmed it by saying she was sitting right there and heard the whole thing. As a office manager, why not jump in and try to solve the problem. She just sat there. At the time I did not know she was the office manager. I just thought she was somebody working on the computer. I also complimented her on how beautiful her ring was. Never knowing that she was the office manager. Poor representation of her position. Yes I will continue to go there until I find another place to go because I like the dentist. He is very nice , also the people that work in the back are very nice. It's just the two in the front, they have a different kind of attitude going on, again just my opinion. Still waiting for corporate to call me back which hasn't happened as of yet. The front office women were bold enough to tell me my 15yr old was not allowed to have me her mom be there to comfort her! (In the previous visit i was in the room)The dental assistant shamed me for not being able to pay for two tooth extractions and tried to lecture me on her schedule not the previous dental schedule i was given the visit before. The dentist did not address her directly and did the extraction without so much as asking her why she was crying? I have no trust in the staff or the dentist, and I am never going back and would urge anybody to look up the current dental laws and inform yourself of current practices when it comes to being a minors advocate! Horrible place!! Do not recommend to anyone. They tried charging me over $200 for a cleaning that normally costs $100 or so. They then try charging you $18 for your records unless you ask to have them emailed. Still waiting on email so we'll see if they come through. I asked for the patient records release form and got it 3 days later. The dentist was cool but otherwise I will never set foot into a Coast Dental ever again!! X-Ray Technology is outdated. My insurance included a "free" cleaning that they told me after 1 hour and 20 mins of waiting would cost $177. Total waste of time. Process should have been explained up front. I set an appointment for a cleaning but dentist said they don't do that on a first appointment?!!? Outdated technology and very behind the times in their practices from what I have seen in other offices. Old equipment with nothing digital. Outdated office space. Not fresh for a medical facility. Terrible experience if you need anything else than regular cleanings or fillings. There's never an Orthodontist available, are too far away, or they can cancel. Waited 7 weeks for an appointment and then they call with some bull about the doctor skipping out on his appointments, AGAIN, and would another 9 weeks of a wait be acceptable for the next appointment. If you can, please save yourself the heartache and find another place for your dental needs. This is not an impulse review, on the contrary, it is based on my experience over an extended period of time with not one but two Coast Dental locations, Apopka and Altamonte Springs. There is no one that you can get in touch with, to file a complaint in this company and get any resolution. After numerous phone calls and messages left with corporate, for very serious issues, the kind that caused the office to shut down, nobody ever got back with me. That should be a big alarm to everyone.... knowing that no matter how wrong things go, nobody will do anything about it. Coast Dental lacks in more places than can be fixed, they should simply not be in business.. There is no medical curtesy, no professionalism, you will feel as in a sales office at best. Even there at least you would hope for curtesy and respect. They wasted so much of my time and I never got a proper appology. During my last visit with them , scheduled for a regular cleaning, they stated that I have periodontal disease and refused to give me a basic cleaning which would have been covered by insurance. Instead they insisted that I need a deep cleaning as my only service option from them which would cost me over $500. They stated that it was according to their doctor's orders but the doctor never took a moment to confirm, even though I requested it. I just went to another dentist office yesterday which is a few weeks after getting the periodontal disease diagnoses from Coast Dental. They stated that I not only do not have have any periodontal disease, but my teeth are in excellent health and I need to keep up the good job. They also gave me the regular cleaning that I needed with no problem, without trying to force sell me any services or products like Coast Dental does . Nothing against anybody in particular at Coast Dental, it is obvious to me that this corporation is training their employees to make them money and do not at all put any emphasis on the patient's medical needs and their customer service skills. But I cannot help wonder, if you as their employees see this wrong being done, and you care about doing the wright thing,why won't you take your dental work skills and work some place else ? Going forward, I will gladly drive an extra 30 minutes longer to get the dental care that I need in a professional, curteous manner. We all deserve to be treated with respect and honesty and not be taken advantage of like Coast Dental does for pure financial reasons. read more

I payed almost $4000 for a total of 8 fillings. 4 months later I easily chip one of the teeth that received a filling. 5 months after i chip a tooth I chip yet another tooth, this time it is worse than the first. I went there today for a cleaning and am very happy with Joslynn the lovely young lady that does the cleanings. She is very clean, very pleasant, very polite, and does an excellent job cleaning your teeth. She is also very patient, and gentle . I cannot comment on the dentists work because I have not had any work done by the dentist. He is however pleasant, professional, and answers your questions. The staff manager Elizabeth is polite and knowledgeable, and explains everything to you about your coverage, and any charge you may have before hand. The other woman at the desk is also polite. There is very little wait time because he does not book people on top of each other, but allows ample time for each person. I would advise you to read any paper work you have to sign as you are signing a contract and there are important facts you need to consider before you sign. read more

I saw these reviews about the upcharges but thought they would be reserved to those particular offices. NO! Coast Dental in Altamont Springs told me I had Gum disease, bone loss, pocket depth of 4's and 5's, and an infection. I needed root planing/scaling, antibiotic powder applied to the teeth and LASER THERAPY. My portion of the bill 560.00. They also said I needed to replace ALL 10 of my fillings and I had a small cavity. I paid my previous dentist out of pocket for new xrays and a second opinion. NOTHING was wrong with my Gums! I just need a regular cleaning. I also have no cavity and only 4 very old fillings that need replacing. I'm still floored that any medical practice would be so unprincipled and dishonest. read more

I've been to the dentist many times and I've never had experiences remotely close to this place. The staff is really nice, so nothing against them personally, but when you tell someone a proceedure will only take 45 minutes, and they show up on their lunch break, and it takes over 3 HOURS, then something is wrong. I literally sat in that chair alone in the room for over an hour by myself while the staff took a lunch break and chatted it up in the back. I was told I needed a bunch of cleaning work done (did I mentioned they told me how impressed they were with my insurance?) and gave me a 2 page list of everything from lasering my gums back to a 200$+ toothbrush. In total there was over 1500$ out of pocket expenses they wanted to do. They also went crown crazy on my mouth and anywhere that had 3 or more previous cavities, they just put a crown on it. $$$$ This was just one visit and I haven't even gotten into some of the bigger issues I've had with them, but I won't go into them because it is more corporate policy issue and I don't think this specific office is completely responsible. If you have the choice, I HIGHLY suggest finding another dental company to use. Read all the horror stories at other Coast Dental locations and consider yourself warned. read more

As a new patient I was dissapointed. Two visits and waited over an hour each time to be seen. I was told I needed Root scaling, which I am going for a second opinion after reading others reviews...and the high cost. I asked for a regular cleaning and I was told no. The front office staff does not look up from the computer when they are speaking to you, the hygienist was rough, and the dentist was nice but rough when it came to the fillings. read more

Avoid this place if you need anything more serious than a cleaning! We have been going here for several years and this past year was nothing more than a nightmare. They don't take any responsibility for their work and blame everything on the patients. After numerous crowns and root canals and teeth pulling - they left my husband with a total of 8 teeth on the top of his mouth - ALL CROWNS - and said they could make a bridge that would attach from on crown to the other. WHICH IS NEVER SOMEHING THAT CAN BE DONE BY ANY RESPONSIBLE DENTIST. We finally decided we didn't think they knew what they were doing and went to get a second opinion and sure enough - the new dentist was not pleased with the work done. Coast Dental did not take a full mouth Xray for more than a year and yet continued to do work on my husbands mouth. He had abscesses and infection going on around all the crowns they had done and they did nothing to alert him or prevent it. He was in their chair about twice a month for the last year and yet they never bothered to do a cleaning or try to take a step back and say maybe they needed to rethink their options. They just barreled ahead and now his mouth is a mess that will be cleaned up at a huge expense. Elizabeth is the office manager and she hung up on me the last time I called. Their patient relations department doesn't answer calls or return messages. I have reported them to the Health Department and the licensing board.. Save yourself! I came to the office. Had to wait for an hour before I could be seen when I had an appointment. Had an x ray and paid. All then dentist did was looked at my teeth and didn't even do anything. Said I had some wisdom teeth needed to be removed. Said he can do it, but from the sound of it don't sound too confident in the guy. Said he referred me to dental surgeon. Then I was seen by the dental hygienist who didn't do anything. Then tried to pressure me into getting unnecessary deep clean that I don't think I need. Basically, when I walked out the give my a flyer of the prices for the deep clean if I wanted it. They were extremely overpriced. I came in to the office expecting to get a basic cleaning and got nothing. They overcharged me for x rays of my teeth. Had to pay at the time of visit. I thought it ended there, but no. I had a bill later for the balance of the difference that they overcharged my dental insurance. I have had dental x rays before and never had to pay. All was covered by insurances. In summary, this place billed my insurance and charged me for very minimal work and next to nothing. Had a terrible experience and never will go here or their chains again. read more

The chairs in the waiting room were all ripped and it didn't look clean. Was called back before I finished the paper work to which the dental assistant rudely told me I could finish it later. For the x-rays the same dental assistant (who never told me her name), asked if I could take out my nose ring out. Before I could even answer, she turned away and said she wouldn't look because my nose ring "disgusts her." Later on, the actual dentist came in & he was great. Terrible, this people only want to make money of you, that's all they care about. The assistant julio threatened me all of the sudden; he started talking that if one to sue a dentist, that will cost a lot, will require paperwork done properly, etc. Total nonsense as I wasn't even thinking of suing anyone, forget about talking about it; he brought it up out of nowhere. I've been with Altamonte Springs office for many years. Last visit, for re-cementing crown on temporary cement they charged me $219. Dr Harrison told me that this crown is not good anymore, need to put in new crown at $955. I went to another dentist, who for $50 visit, showed me ex-ray and explained that crown is good, he can re-use it, but probably need a root canal, prescribed antibiotic to calm pain down while I am searching for root canal specialist. I then wandered why Dr. Harrison did not mention antibiotics, my friend told me probably he wanted me to go crazy with pain so I'll pay him new crown. Terrible, terrible, I feel being cheated and abused, especially by julio, who shows you paperwork, and when you ask him for some discounted plan, re runs out with the paperwork and run in back with other paperwork, not giving you chance to look at both papers and take a minute to think about options. He is very frustrated, and I know why- he doesn't make nearly enough as doctor makes. And that shows in his attitude. All this happens while you being in pain, btw.
