If Dentists offices were used car lots; Coast Dental would be firmly in this place. First; I'm dealing with my son's mother's insurance. This already puts me at a disadvantage because I have to go where her insurance is accepted. Second, I make the appointment via the website. The next day, I fill out the information for the paperwork. We arrive for our 2:30 appointment at 2:10. We are then asked for the insurance information. The very same information I filled out the paperwork with. We then wait for 45 minutes. Finally my son is called back for X-rays. A few minutes later, I am allowed back to the room. Then we wait for the hygienist and then we find out a few of the X-rays taken didn't download. The pics are taken again. Then the hygienist goes through the whole set up in my son's mouth with the numbers and this and that. Ten minutes later we are hooked up via Telemed with a dentist elsewhere in the state. They do this so no dentist has to actually be on campus at any given time?? Finally after all that, they come up with a bill of $236 of things the insurance "doesn't cover". Well, that is not what we came here for. Exam and cleaning. If there's additional cleaning or work that needs to be done- YOU GIVE OPTIONS. You do not tell your patients "if you can't pay this additional amount, then we can't help you." What the F?? An exam is an exam. A general cleaning is just that. $45 copay and zip zap we are out of there. Why would you deny service just because you aren't getting a bit more money? How is this place still allowed to practice? It's an absolute joke of a business and has no place having its doors open. read more

I don't typically leave unhappy Yelp reviews, but my experiences at Coast Dental have warranted a one star rating. Note that I haven't been a patient here in five years, but I wrote down my bad experiences during that time. My most recent encounter with the company was what put me over the edge. When I was a patient at the Winter Springs Coast Dental for a few years, there were many things that I did not like: - There were several occasions where the hygenist would start treating me for things that I never asked for or were needed. I like to be informed, especially if it is a treatment that is an extra cost. - I attempted to reschedule a cleaning appointment on one occasion and the only appointments were for several months out. There was no waiting list either. - On one of my last visits, I was the first person to sign in that morning but my name was called last amongst the group of about eight other people. It took almost TWO HOURS for just a cleaning and x-rays. The staff apologized for the wait at the end of the visit, but I was very upset because this caused me to be much later to work that day. Fast forward to 2019 and have been going to a new dentist for the past five years. Last week, I received bill in the mail from 2014 from Coast Dental! Why have I not received a bill or any communication that I have been in debt since then? I called the phone number of their corporate billing office and left four voicemails, but received no calls back. I also called the Winter Springs dental location. They did confirm a balance with them but could not explain why I never received a bill until now. I am very disappointed with the unprofessional manner in which I was treated for services back when I was a patient here, which is why I ultimately left. Now that I have received an old bill from them with no explanation as to why, I have more than enough reasons to NEVER be a patient at Coast Dental again. read more

My experiences at Coast Dental have warranted a one-star rating. I have used this facility because it is near home, however, their patient care is the worst. On average you are waiting a minimum of 30 minutes after the appointment time because they are understaffed. Thereafter, you are left sitting at a dental chair sometimes waiting 45-60 minutes. Today's encounter put me over the edge. I waited 90 minutes to be seen for X-rays, but before that, the medical assistant asked me to sign for treatments or things I did not request and/or were not needed. This is standard procedure at every visit, so I know the drill and immediately declined. When I finally got to see the hygienist, she recommended an additional procedure and left me waiting another 30 minutes to verify if this was covered by the insurance company. Again, I got tired of waiting and got up to use the restroom when I saw her in a different room tending to ANOTHER patient. Turns out she was covering for the absent dentist (working remotely) while doing her regular hygienist duties. This explains why some patients that arrived after me were seen first. Altogether I waited TWO HOURS for x-rays and walked out of waiting for cleaning. The front desk woman asked me to re-schedule but I was very upset because I was already late for work. I do not recommend Coast Dental to anyone - the worst patient care, very unprofessional. read more

Although the staff has been friendly and professional, I agree with others that the company has a "sell up"policy that you need to be careful of.I was persuaded to replace my partial dentures although I wasn't having any trouble with the ones I had. I think it could have been because of the lab they use, but I had to make repeated visits for fittings before I could even close my mouth! Once they delivered them I waited and returned for an adjustment. I was informed I was allowed ONE adjustment, and after that it would be nearly $200 a visit! I was not made aware of this policy prior to ordering and paying for these partials. I feel certain the problem is with the company management, and am sorry for the employees that have to work under those conditions. Meanwhile, months later, I still have difficulty eating. Oh, well, I have a few pounds to lose! read more

RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. My dad went for routine exam and cleaning, they charged him $510 for a service he did not receive and it has been weeks waiting for somebody to call back. The person at the front desk keeps saying the manager is on vacation, over 3 weeks now. They only answer the phone to set up new appointments, so I left a message with the new patient person as my last resource after weeks to try to get an answer. We tried leaving a message online but no call back either. Their voice mail is full, probably from all the customers complaints they never respond. We stopped by personally and were told again the manager is on vacation. Terrible customer service in every angle. I can't believe on other bad reviews they replied saying "our goal is to provide exceptional customer service", it's the exact opposite. read more

Advice: Do not leave this place with out getting copies or your records, X-Rays, etc! IF THE MANAGER WHO SITS IN THE CORNER BEHIND THE DESK SAYS SHE WILL EMAIL IT, SIT AND WAIT. My appointment was at the beginning of August and I was told that day I would get an email of my X-rays, it is now October and I have called countless times and the manager is always "away" from her desk, "not in" or "on vacation". She will never come to the phone! - Call the day before your appointment to confirm they have all the insurance information they need! I waited 45 minutes past my appointment time because "they couldn't find my insurance". They will not call you to let you know! Do not be fooled by how pleasant the employees are! Yes, they are helpful and kind at the time of your visit but you will get the run around when you call which isn't worth it! If you end up going somewhere you'll be starting from scratch because they will not help you at all! read more

I have been a patient over a year here. First I must say I noticed there is a difference since I last visited. The office is always clean and inviting, with great Black and white TV shows playing. I noticed Dr. Cava is a new Dentist there and he is very detailed and thorough. Possibly a perfectionist, You can see the passion he has for his job. And If going to the dentist scares you like it does me, rest assured Dr. Cava will explain every procedure in detail before he begins and also every step of the way so there are no surprises in the chair. I loved that! And the office staff is fantastic and so helpful. Everyone is eager to answer questions. The Dentist Asst. Jimesha helped ease my worries by being super compassionate to my needs. And she was patient and understanding and helped the day go by smoother for me. Dentist Miriam was fun and upbeat, best cleaning I've had in years! And Cindy the Office Mngr. is a guru with insurance or financing questions. She helped me understand the in and outs of my insurance plan, which helped tremendously. Also they are not long waits to be seen. And appts can be made with ease. This is a great dentist in the area, compared to the dentist I left to come here. I'm now going to change my son to Coast Dental as a new patient for braces. read more

My wife and I recently moved from Apopka to Casselberry, so we had to find a new dentist that was closer to our home. We found Coast Dental on Tuscawilla (recommended by friends and our new insurance provider). At first, I was nervous because - well - you know, it's a new dentist and you never know what to expect. It's like starting over. But MAN am I glad that I started over with THIS place! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcome and relaxed. The waiting area is very pleasant, so I didn't mind waiting 10 minutes until it was my turn. Then one of the technicians came out, Maria Rose, and she was awesome. She explained everything to me, BEFORE performing any work on me and gave me very explicit instructions on how to make the xray process a little more comfortable... she went over my xrays with me right there after they were printed, and she educated me quite a bit on dental terms that I had never known before. The hygienist, Dean, did a fantastic job with the cleaning - - I had never experienced a cleaning with the 'sonic' cleaning device he used, and I loved it! They didn't try to sell me on anything, although because of my gum recession, they recommended an electronic toothbrush that worked almost like the 'sonic' cleaning device they used during my cleaning... so I bought one and it's amazing. The dentist was very cordial, (despite the incredibly tragic recent loss of his wife), and he took the time to explain what needed to be done for me to help my gum recession. Thank you all for making me feel right at home - - I have found my new dental office - - and I actually look forward to my next cleaning! :) read more

I made a while account to post this, it happen a while back and it still irks me because I never got my money was taken and I feel people need to be warned. it was my first time going to the dentist alone without my parent a while back and had to get some filling done by these people and we were suppose to just go until we couldn't beacuse there was too many for one session we never really agreed on how many we were going to do that day and after a few it started hurting they were stabbing me and being very rough I was crying and asked to finish, they did not want me to stop, kept making me feel bad about wanting to stop and crying but I just had anxiety , it was my first time alone and I wanted it to stop. I eventually had to basically tell them a refuse to get anymore because I didn't want to be bullied into it and left in tears. on that visit they also told me I had a gum problem that I would have to get a deep cleaning every six months for that was over $600, my grandma was paying for my fillings so I only had limited money when I came for my next visit for the rest of my fillings (I thought) they told me no we scheduled you for a cleaning, we kept going back and forth and I told them no I have to get the fillings done, I'm young I was confused and they kinda made me get the cleaning i didn't know if my dad scheduled it or what but once I left I found out he didn't him and my grandma had had enough of there games with me and my dad doesnt ever think something isn't my fault so that's saying something so he made me call to get my money that we gave them back as we gave them a lump of about 2 thousand for my teeth and they told us I had no money left. got 3 fillings and forced into a cleaning and my grandma didn't have the money to help me with my teeth anymore and they really need it. don't send your kids here they did the same to my little sister too but she was wiser to it and got up and left, I was made to feel so uncomfortable and stupid at times if you choose to go here be carefu. Worst experience I've had in over 10 years at any type of doctor's facility. Seen over an hour late for a cleaning appointment, no updates given by front desk. The appointment itself took over an hour because there wasn't an actual dentist at the office, a fact I was never informed of when booking the appointment. I was told the dentist was "virtual" due to Covid? Really?? Aren't they all vaccinated by now? Unacceptable. Oh and don't get me started on the paperwork... a huge stack of old photocopies you can barely see to fill out while sitting there... I showed up early to fill them out because nothing was available online ahead of the appointment (again, really?! In 2021??)... so in total I spent over 2 hours at this office for a 15 minute cleaning. Oh, and to top it off the hygienist was rude. Nope nope NOPE! read more

First off, I've already written a review of Coast Dental at this location, but that was when Dr. Cava and Maria (the hygienist) were there. Dr. Cava and Maria are no longer there. Instead, Dr. James Williamson and Noris are there. So I'd like to share my experience with them... Dr. Williamson is fantastic. He takes the time to talk to you, explaining everything you need to know. He's very pleasant to talk to and very friendly. His many years of experience gave me confidence that he knew what he was doing. :) One of the hygienists, Noris, was very pleasant and she explained everything she was doing as it was being done to my teeth. Unfortunately, I'm getting older and my teeth aren't as healthy as they used to be, so I had to have a different type of cleaning than the normal adult cleaning... so it was a little painful. But Noris made sure that I was as comfortable as can be. She did a fantastic job. I will continue to go to this location for all of my dental needs. They're wonderful. read more

My family has been going to this dentist for years. Recently they sent me a bill which was incorrect. I discussed this with Coast Dental billing and they said they were working with insurance company to get correct amount. It was then sent to AWA collections. I explained to AWA that bill was incorrect and was assured by Coast Dental billing that they would notify AWA. It has since been put on my credit report. This is the only late payment showing on my credit report. Corrected bill has been paid in full and now I am stuck getting removed from my report. Coast Dental won't return my calls and neither will AWA. Needless to say I am furious. Mike G read more

Nice staff, friendly and pain free dentist and Hygenist. Be careful of the upsell though. Not sure the medicated mouthwash and $90 toothbrushes are worth it. :/ those types of sales tactics kind of ruin the trust for the real medical advice. Out of pocket expenses can run up quickly depending on your insurance plan so watch out for that. Had cavities filled and a partial deep cleaning and we're happy with both of those procedures. read more

Living in Orlando I am so used to being treated like a number and a lot of places are run like a mill, take a number, wait, do the bare minimum and send you on your way. With these people i know about their life and they, mine. They are genuinely concerned and never rush me. Sometimes the appt starts late but I think that's true of ally medical appts these days. The office staff was extremely helpful and friendly! The hygienist and dentist on staff were very professional and assisted me with all of my needs. I was very impressed! This practice is the WORST! Sketchy dentist. Unhelpful to rude staff. Fax machine always busy so they "didn't receive" the necessary paper work - and that's my problem not theirs. The crowns were a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COLOR from the rest of my teeth and then they wanted to SELL (because they're a BUSINESS) me additional teeth whitening services! All in all it was more than 6 weeks before I could get the crowns and it was supposed to be 2 weeks in the temporaries! NO concern for the patient whatsoever. Oh, and they called the day of to force me to reschedule my appointment earlier in the day - otherwise it would be another MONTH before they could get me back in - after my insurance changed for the year!!! I took my 14 year old son in for his first time having to get cavities filled. The hygentist was rude and NOT friendly at all. My son was of course nervous and she seemed to be very annoyed by him asking questions. She was not explaining as she went along and just continued to be rude. The Dentist, Dr. Cava kept telling my son he is not listening because of him being nervous and asking what everything was. It wasn't until I made a comment to both the dentist and his assistant that it would be helpful if they were patient and also explain what they are doing because although my son is 14, it is his first time getting fillings. I had to tell them that I am sure this is not the first person they have had that feels this way. Once they were ready to do the work, the assistant said.. I'm sorry your in my seat and I can wait out front. I will be definately looking for a different Dentist! I was not happy with the service. read more

We decided to try Coast Dental - Tuscawilla since we moved so far away from our other dentist. We couldn't schedule a family of four or even the two children in the same day like we've done with other dentists in the past. Their policy is to schedule one adult and one child an hour apart. So my husband went in at 8:30, and I brought my 7 year-old son an hour later (two trips to the same place... on the same day... 0_o; my older son and I scheduled an appt. for the following week at the same times). Before they started anything, they gave me a bill of a bunch of stuff, one of which is a sterilization fee (0_o again). Now I'm all for providing an estimate, but how do you already know what you're going to do without taking a look at his teeth first? Next, they tell me that I have to wait in the waiting room, but the doctor will be out to explain everything to me after the exam and cleaning are over (0_o again). Now, I don't know you from Adam, so no I am not leaving my child in a room alone with any stranger at any time. That was my cue. We left, and went right down the street to make an appt. at another dentist's office where the receptionist was also like 0_o when I explained to her what I had just gone through. I switched to this office due to change in insurance. After contacting them to schedule and being reassured multiple times that I could have my initial exam and cleaning the same day, I was told when I arrived that I was misinformed by the person who spoke to me. Because they had made the mistake, they did finally agree to work me in with the hygienist. However, I ended up spending over 3 hours in the office that day. Six months later, when I arrived for a scheduled cleaning, I received a call from my husband as I was getting out of my car 10 minutes before my appointment to let me know the office had just called to cancel because the hygienist was out. I went in to try to reschedule. The receptionist first complained that she was unable to reach me on my cell to cancel and then admitted that she had just started to make cancellation calls a couple of minutes earlier--too late to catch me before I left the house anyway. She told me I could reschedule to whenever I needed but was then unable to reschedule me on 2 different dates I was available a month later. This office appears extremely disorganize based on my 2 interactions with them. I would definitely not recommend them. I have changed insurance and plan to go back to my prior dentist. read more

I was totally surprised that I had such a great time going to the Dentist! Lol! I haven't been in 9 years thanks to the awful experience I always had with other dentists in my country! One of my tooth broke and had to embrace myself to go! I picked it out of a list from my Insurance! As soon as I got there two lovely ladies welcome me as if they knew me, so friendly and courteous. After that I was taken to get some x-rays and then meet the Dr. My dentist is an awesome woman that was always smiling and kind to me, helping me to relax and make myself more comfortable. After I was told of all the damages I had in my mouth (9 years worth of! Hehe) I was surprised of the costs given to me; 3 crowns, 2 root canal, 2 resin fillings & to replace my teeth by a bridge! All for about $2,700! I thought they were kidding! What a bargain! They not only make sure and double check that my Insurance will cover what they have promised (about $1,600) they also help me to apply for $1,000 with CareCredit! They did it all!! At the end I only paid about a hundred bucks and everything has been covered! I'll be paying only $84/month to CareCredit for a year with no interests and; have the healthiest mouth and peace of mind that I always wanted!! I can't not thank you enough to all of you that made my experience the most amazing ever!! You guys have rocked my world!!! =*) read more

Yesterday was my first time being at Coast on red bug lake road. When I arrived, nobody was sitting at the desk to greet me. I sat there for about ten minutes when the actual dentist Dr. Jaimaidan came and realized I hadn't been greeted. He gave me my new patient paperwork. The hygienist who works in the front came out and explained some of the forms to me and she was very nice. I think her name may be Jamisha. After filling out my paperwork, it took about 30 minutes for me to be called to the back- this irritated me but Miriam, my hygienist was very nice and made the process very easy and smooth for me. I was seen by the dentist and he was very gentle and explained to me the procedures that were needed, stating they could start on one side of my mouth that day if I wanted. I agreed to get the work done on one side which equaled to $469.99. Miriam got started with the procedure and the dentist came to check in on me periodically. I was very impressed....until the lady who handles the finances came back there WHILE I was getting my procedure done to take my debit card to charge me for the procedure. It takes quite some time for me to get my card back. My card and receipt are brought to me and to my complete and utter dismay, I see that I have been charged $918.00, plus the $20.00 company for the original office visit..after being told I would be charged $469.99. Miriam tells me that the finance lady must have misunderstood her when she told her to only charge me for the first portion. Obviously upset, I go to the lady's desk to get the situation corrected. Instead of apologizing or admitting that she was wrong, she reaches her hand out to take my card without saying a word. Mistake number one. You do not overcharge someone by hundreds of dollars without issuing an apology, then expect said person to hand their card over to you without a question. I then proceeded to ask her "what are you going to do with my card before I give it back to you?" She proceeds to say "ok I know you're upset but you're not going to talk to me like that etc." with her hand up might I add. I told her I need her to fix her tone she tells me I need to fix my attitude.... When SHE IS THE ONE WHO MESSED UP. As someone who runs a PR and management firm, has implemented a customer service training program for two major corporations, as well as co-owns two restaurants in the Orlando airport with my husband, I know first hand about customer service and lack thereof. The fact that this lady who overcharged me, whose name I never got because she never bothered to tell me, without so much of an apology, has made me completely leery about this practice! The only reason I am returning is because of the kindness of Miriam and the actual dentist- but mainly due to the fact that I do not want to be forced to sit through another series of x-rays at another dentist. However, after this work is complete, I will be returning to my previous dentist because I was never treated as horribly as I was at Coast. Because I am a business owner, I know many people in this area and will ensure that they all know what a terrible experience I had- only based off of my experience with a single employee. read more
