Absolutely superb. Coast is to dinner what Dan and Steph's is to breakfast/lunch. Fresh, quality ingredients, a creative and unique menu, and flawless execution. Everything I tried here was delicious, and the banana split was probably the best dessert I've had in years. You can't go wrong with peanut-butter sauce, chocolate, ice cream, and fresh banana. The dessert was the star of the show, but the scallop entree was also excellent, as was the bourbon sauce glazing the beef ribs. There's really not much to fault here. Prices are perhaps a bit towards the high end of the scale, but entirely justified by the quality of the food. read more

Don't get room service!!!! I'm travelling through - and often am looking for friendly quality places to dine on my own. If you are scared of going out for dinner on your own this is perfect for beginners. Don a smart casual outfit and although the menu is designed to share, it can adapt to the lone traveller. Not intimidating or pretentious although given the quality of the food it could easily be and people would still come. And not casual enough that someone will come and try and be your friend (bonus!) A peaceful hum of human interaction is a jive background for my individual thoughts ... I rate it. Scollops OMG I'm living for it ... Had dinner at Coast last night and it was fabulous! Walked up without a reservation and were seated promptly. Very courteous staff and our waitress was attentive. The prawns and house bread were both delightful and the main meal was to die for. We had the blue fin tuna, squid linguine, and an arugula salad with pear and candied walnuts. Since opening a few years ago, I would consider Coast the best restaurant in Harvey bay. Their menu are designed around sharing and tasting plates Efficient service and a brilliant drinks selection makes Coast a good night out (or lunch) read more

This place was super. We had the slow cooked lamb shared between 6 of us as well as the local scallops, as well a few other tapas plates. The service and atmosphere was fantastic as well. We were late To start dinner which meant by the time we left we were the only table left. There was no hurrying us out the door, they waited patiently for us. Great food, great atmosphere great wine and great location. I will definitely be back here when returning to The Bay. read more

Fantastic. Our first night in Hervey Bay and we hadn't booked anything. The staff at Coast fitted us in and explained their menu. There wasn't any pressure to order loads of food, instead they offered sound advice based on how hungry we felt and they were spot on. Their drinks menu is great, I particularly enjoyed the extensive craft beer list. When it comes to the food, everything we had was fantastic. Chargrilled octopus, market fish and the seafood congee, all perfectly cooked. Flavours were well balanced and complimentary of each other. If you like chocolate, the brownie is highly recommended for dessert. I'm not normally a fan of cherries but these ones are very tart, balancing the sweetness of the brownie. Best meal we had in Hervey Bay! Tasted fabulous and the presentation was beautiful. Order the Harvey bay scallops on the half shell, the pesto served over top is just lovely. A bit short staffed but the food was definitely worth the wait. read more

Finally got to experience Coast and I have to say, it was so good we went back two days later so this review is for both trips. For starters the steamed buns (pork belly or buttermilk fried chicken) are just Devine. Tender pork that melts in your mouth and chicken that is tender and juicy. The bread and olive oil/balsamic dipping sauce is quite nice as well. The one thing to know about Coast is its all about share plates when it comes to mains. We opted for the beef short ribs (we are more pork ribs kind of girls) but the beef was so tender it fell off the bones. A half serve was more than enough for three of us especially if you add sides. I ordered the maple roasted carrots with caraway seeds and feta. I loved them. We also got the bucket of chips with aioli. They were really yummy. Also tried the gnocchi with cauliflower purée and pancetta, it was nice but probably the only thing I tried that I wouldn't order again just because everything else was packed with so much more flavour. They also have a good range of cocktails (also mocktails for those of us driving) plus a large wine selection and the usual hot and cold beverages. Next time I will save room for dessert because it all sounded amazing (they are famous for their Coast Banana Sundae). I would highly recommend this place to anyone but definitely the place to go for groups. read more

Menu looked promising but delivery was poor. It was the end of a long day touring Fraser Island and we wanted a decent meal. The prices were higher than neighboring establishments and the place looked fancier so we gave it a shot. We ordered 4 different items off the menu. 1st one came after about 20 mins, 2nd came at 30 mins and 3rd and 4th came at 1 hour. The delay between servings gave us time to discuss how it was odd that we couldn't be seated inside unless you had a reservation, even though they were only 20% full and only 2 parties showed up while we were there. 1 of which didn't have a reservation. Was it the way we were dressed? I thought this was a beach town. Anyways, our local friends said they also had a bad experience there since it's overpriced, undercooked and overcooked food, and slow service. read more
