The 8oz steak was great, the cocktails good and some excellent service. I will definitely go there again.

A fun place for families. Food was delicious. My husband had the Steak & Fries I had the caramelized onion Burger, which I believe the cook brought right out to us. The fries were nice and hot. The steak was cooked perfectly my burger could have been cooked a bit longer to prevent so much of the meat juices from dripping. The waitstaff could be more inviting when you come into the restaurant. The first attempt to eat here the waitress apologized and said it would be a 40 minute wait as a trove of people arrived between 5 - 5:30 pm when we arrived. We told her we'd come back another time. Two days later we arrived around 4:30 ish, and the young lady from way behind the counter, without saying hello or welcome, pointed us to a table. Our assigned waitress was pleasant but we had to flag her down twice for more beverages, it wasn't really busy yet and three wait staff were talking amongst each other. In any case if you don't mind this type behavior this place will suit you, but if you're a large group it may be somewhat challenging to be waited on with a professional attitude. We stayed a week in lovely Brighton and the restaurant was across the street but we didn't bother trying this place for a third time.

The first rack of ribs that we all ordered was alright, but as the racks progressed, the quality became worse. I'm not quite sure how this happened, because The Old Bank used to be quite a reputable establishment that offered high quality food and service. Now, I find myself never wanting to go back, which is a real shame.

Also, I was a little dubious about the mixed Yelp reviews it's had over the last few years. I thought I'd be a fairy Yelp mother for the night and celebrate Valentine's day with my husband at the same time. We were welcomed by friendly staff. A bit sad we were ushered to our seats sandwiched in between a big group and a loud couple. Nevermind, that didn't dampen our experience as I was really looking forward to some good food. I had a bottle of Peroni and Mark had a bottle of IPA. We both ordered steak and ribs with chips. I like my steak well done and Mark like his medium rare. Both came in good time. However, I soon found out my steak was still mooing and Mark's was well done so had to switch plates when he's already smothered the steak with damn pepper sauce! I dare not said anything and just scraped it off. I had garlic butter with my steak and it was really nice. The rack of ribs were delicious. The meal really busted my belly and I was left impressed. My husband's input is he was impressed with the speedy bill upon request. It's nice to finish off our drinks in our own time and not spending much time making eye contact with waiting staff for the bill. I'd come back on a special occassion definitely.

The waiter dissappeared for a long time and the first 2 plates arrived and 20 minutes later my sons burger arrived. The food was awful, to be polite, actually some of the worst food we have ever eaten, my sons burger was inedible, the bun was burnt hard on the inside, our Tiger fries were awful and grilled to death, the salad was horrible and smelt old, my sisters vegan fries was so overcooked the vegan cheese was baked hard on to the dish. It was crap, and cost us £56, seriously absolute s**t food. We couldnt leave fast enough, I warned the table next to us, the table across from us, had been waiting for 30 minutes to pay. We left and went to 5 Guys and had an amazing burger. DO NOT GO HERE, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I have just returned from 20 years in the U.S.A and I never had food as bad as this. WOW I'm here to warn you.

We both enjoyed our cocktails. We were ushered to our seats and due to the fact that we were both really hungry at that point, we decided to have a starter of nachos to share and a main. He had a medium rare steak and I had a cheeseburger. My only regret is... I shouldn't have filled myself up with the dang nachos (they were good though) so ended up asking for a doggy bag for the remainder of my burger. The steak was well-enjoyed too. It was definitely the belly-buster meal I was looking for. And for the price? It's definitely only for special occassions for us, thus the minus star for affordability. It is such a treat having a TGIF here in Brighton located in the up and coming area of Brighton Marina.

Moksha, on the other hand, has outlets under almost every table. I'd say almost half of the customers were typing or surfing away on the free wifi whilst I drank my tea. And it was delicious tea - winter spiced red. Mmm. Moksha offers many different flavours, all for £1.50, and other hot drinks like mochacinos, americanos and lattes in two sizes. Smoothies are £2.95 each and named things like, 'Cardio Angel' and 'Flu Fighter.' Yummy and healthy-sounding. Snackables range from cakes (such as carrot cake, blueberry and cinnamon loaf, and brownies) to sandwiches, quiches and jacket potatoes. It looks like a great place to stop for lunch; as menu items are all under £5. Meal-size salads are the most expensive, at £4.50, and I'm quite tempted to return for the Roasted Butternut Squash and Feta salad. Wow-y. With plenty of tables and couches, friendly staff and the multitude of available outlets, I'll definitely be back here to work on my term paper/sample some deliciousness in the near future.

I'm not sure I have a coherent opinion now, but I'm gonna share my rambling thoughts... Moksha is an independent cafe. Tick, we like that. The name is interesting and comes from Sanskrit and according to their website, "Moksha frees the soul from all limitations, restrictions and conditions whatsoever, conferring full and total satisfaction and peace." Interesting. Why then does this place look like a Starbucks? Maybe it's just me, but full and total satisfaction are not found in pleather furniture and boring, standardized decor. Inject some character and individuality, and then talk to me about freeing my soul! I just don't really understand- the last thing we need is independent businesses mimicking multinational corporate chains, especially in Brighton, which is fast losing it's face. Beyond my own personal grievances, this cafe does nice food (jacket potatoes, quiches, sandwiches and salads), which is fresh and tasty. It does also have a nice chilled (if manufactured) ambiance and they have occasional gigs and free wifi. Just not the stuff dreams are made of, at least not for me!
