Had a very large Melaleuca tree trimmed. Crew that showed up were on time, professional, very friendly and nice, and helpful as well! The guys made sure anything that could be damaged was moved out of the way, covered our built-in barbecue and the sprinklers and carefully removed and protected the landscape lights. The tree needed extensive trimming, there were lots of large branches, and NONE of the surrounding landscape was damaged at all! They were sure to protect the neighbors' yard and landscape as well. Take my advice and hire professionals. I made the mistake before to have my Gardner trim my olives, oaks, and palms and it was a disaster. I waited two years for them to grow back and then I called Simon. He was responsive, and quick and came out the next day for a quote. We then scheduled the job- they arrived on time and the lead Harrison was kind, knowledgeable, and communicative throughout the day regarding the job. My trees now look beautiful. Simon's crew did a professional job cutting down a 40+ foot pine tree in my yard. We never had a fear of someone getting hurt or the tree falling on our house or neighbor's house. I had these massive Italian Cypress Trees that were trimmed last year by another arbor tree company. After they were trimmed, they still looked hideous. From the consultation, we decided the best outcome would be to remove all 5 trees and grind their stumps. His quote was the best so we got an appointment in right away. I have used Coastal Arbor Tree Service for many years and I don't have anything negative to say. They provide a bid for the work and they have stuck to it and never ask for more than the bid. They are professional, talk to the neighbors if the work will affect them, and they clean up after they are done. The trees are trimmed to your specifications. In the past I have requested a light trimming and they do what I want. This year I requested a more aggressive trimming and they did exactly what I asked for and I am very happy with the outcome. Owner Simon Timms' estimate was fully $600 over the next highest estimate. However! I found that many of these so-called tree services aren't even licensed; none I contacted offered any proof of insurance. Simon, on the other hand, emailed me a $2 million certificate of insurance with his estimate as a matter of course. Since I was asking for removal of trees touching and overhanging the house, such that the job done wrong could cause considerable damage, this was important to me. Then I changed my mind a couple of times. He was patient and made suggestions, as well. I appreciated that he was focused on saving what trees we could save, but I failed to notice that his written estimate didn't include stump grinding of three trees. Although that failure in communication was solely mine, he generously agreed to have the stump grinding done at no extra cost to me. When his crew came back to finish the job, I also asked that a Chinese pistache be pruned. I didn't expect it to happen that day, and I fully expected to pay more. But the pruning was done immediately and Simon didn't ask for another dime. Kudos are also due to foreman Gus and everybody on the team, who worked quietly, cleaned up impeccably, and offered genuine smiles that made my day. Twice! Simon Timms and crew are of that rare breed who not only offer expert service but also a dependable working relationship for future projects. And THAT--is worth gold. read more
