I've used Francisco now for 3 or 4 different jobs. First job was removing 8 trees from our backyard, including 5 massive King Palm trees. They did an awesome job at a very fair price (probably 1/2 as much as two other quotes). Work was great, trees were all removed with no damage to surroundings, and yard looks so much better (and more open now). 2nd major job was help with our front yard landscaping including removing all existing trees, bushes, and sod, leveling the dirt out, and then planting new sod. We were having unfortunate yard luck. First, the heat wave/tropical storm/heat wave combo made every single weed and speck of crabgrass in our "low- maintenance, drought-resistant" landscaping sprout and double overnight. The storm caused an agave as tall as I am and too big for two of me to wrap my arms around to snap off its base in our backyard. Second, we have this weird willow acacia in the front yard. One day, itʻs going to be beautiful. But itʻs currently going through a weird awkward teenage phase. In the storm/heatwave, this tree went swamp monster and covered our walkway and a good portion of the yard. Third, I had made calls about changing our home insurance because the renewal cost was 40% over last yearʻs price, which had already been a steep increase. I heard back from one company and they told me they would deny coverage based on insufficient defensible space. Two of our trees caused the denial - a beautiful mature loquat taller than our roof and a yucca that were planted so that the bases of their trunks were less than 3-5 ft from our house and whose leaves and branches touched the building itself. (Pro tip: remove photos of your home from Zillow, Google maps, Redfin, etc.) A denial in coverage for one insurance company on our record could result in us paying even more outrageous rates or not being able to get coverage at all. So, we agreed to dip into the emergency fund to get the trees taken care quickly so we could prove a fix to the denying insurance company. We had previously priced tree removal to replace a wall soon after we moved in - we knew the ballpark range for a large, established tree. I called a handful of companies and the quotes were high, but fair. Then my partner mentioned that a friendly person from the neighborhood had given him a business card months ago. (He was on his back trimming the swamp monster and I think this person took pity on him, honestly.) TLDR: Francisco from Golden Tree care gave us a price so good we didnʻt have to use the emergency fund AND we were able to get the two defensible space trees removed along with their stumps; the swamp monster tamed; the giant agave removed; and front, back, and side yards cleaned up. This was all done the day after I called him. Our yards have never looked better. Of course, it rained the next day but thatʻs not Franciscoʻs fault. The man and his crew are truly golden. read more
