I don't put a 5 star review out there often, but if you are looking for a rental, this is the place! I called and talked to Hector. He is great to work with and is a great source of information! We rented three kayaks on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. We agreed on a time and a place and he was there early with all the gear we agreed to. Highly recommend even for beginners. Hector is very helpful, friendly and chill. My friend and I had never kayaked but wanted to on our trip to Port A. Saturday night I called around 7 to get some info and before I knew it, we were set up for Sunday at 8-830 foemr a quick lesson and out to kayak. Hector texted that a.m. to confirm and he was ready for us when we got there. A quick lesson and the Kayaks were in the water and all I had to do was step in the mud, but even then he gave me his arm and helped me get settled. Even if you are wimpy and a beginner, he takes you to a place you can safely kayak and decide how far you want to go. When you are done, call him and he picks you up. Easy peasy! Hector is the best! He knows everything there is to know about the area, he is fun and funny, and he's just a straight up good guy. We went on a whim, and he was really easy to work with in organizing dates and times. We showed up, we followed him to the destination, and then we began... Hector showed us the ropes for kayaking, answered in depth questions on topics ranging from local plants and wildlife to business and from kayaking to local history. We came on a group tour for our company Team Build with store leadership and had a blast! Hector, the owner and tour guide, is friendly & very knowledgeable. Everyone gets an instruction class before starting where he informs you of the proper clothing attire, safety rules and needs. They provide and kayak and life jacket for everyone. And a fee dry boxes for people to place their phones, etc. Once in the water, Hector is very helpful and encouraging. He gives you a tour of the wildlife and area/buildings around the route. We also happened to go on the tour with a Mom and her 15 year old son & 10 year old daughter. The son had his own kayak, but Hector had a 2-sweater for the Mom and daughter and was great with the family as well. He also said he offers camps for kids and adults. Fantastic kayak tour for our family of first time kayakers. We went on the Saturday morning group tour and it was perfect. Small enough group where he could provide guidance to everyone as needed. Gave us a quick Kayak 101 so we were comfortable with the plan before we left including equipment and safety. We did double kayaks with our kids (9 & 12yr olds). Worked out great. Was a great mix of bay kayaking which was a little harder at the start and then to the light house and mangrove paddling trails which is easy kayaking (Lighthouse Lake Tour). Would highly recommend doing this. Great first time experience. It was our kids favorite thing we did on vacation. Hector the owner and guide is a great guy! read more

This was one of the best beach experiences we've ever had. Hector is an all-around awesome guy & took unbelievable care of us. Delivered the kayaks, showed us where to go, provided a map, then afterward even drove us right up to a good place to watch the game so we could follow him. Absolutely recommend renting from him! Hector was great, we hadn't done any kayaking in Port Aransas before this trip. He delivered the kayaks to our predetermined destination. Got us set up and in the water. Then returned and picked up the equipment, no fuss. Just remember to ask for the anchor, especially if it is windy. We had a great time and look forward to bringing the kids this summer. read more

My hubby and I booked a last minute fishing trip with Hector. This was our first trip in a kayak and after 4 hours with Hector we realized we knew very little about kayaking or coastal fishing. lol I feel like I could rent or buy a kayak now and have full confidence in my ability to navigate a large body of water under windy conditions. The fish had "lock jaw" so we did not catch much. But Hectors kayaking 101 was superb. Hector is very knowledgeable and willing to share his expertise. I wanted to sign up for the marsh tour (next day) but my hubby said he we had to get back to Fort Worth. I don't know if this will help anyone else. But I have been having major problems with my back and legs. That trip fixed the pinched nerve in my lower back! One man's cure might be another man's poison...but it worked for this 66 year old Nana. Yeah Hector! read more
