Great trip for family! Everyone limited on good size snapper. Even had fish processed afterwards for a great price.

July 3rd trip red snapper bite was real good Captian John found great bed of larger ones w avg 8 lbers I caught 9 big snapper and the limit is only 2 but helped others get their 2 , & the decks hands did not help me boat or lift the fish up / I caught the biggest & most 8-13 lbs & after a couple to tired to lift - Zack the dude beside me pulled my fish up -I tipped Zack & his wife w beer & two sows & also tipped the deck hands - the boat was busy.... Captain John was real good but Hannah the x deckhand who works at fisherman W is missed - she helped me land 13 or so fish the last time being a Sr citizen maybe but she had more energy than current crew read more

I've enjoyed coming here to go fishing several times and it's always been good. This time the boat we went on was smaller and so much more packed. It was over crowded. It seams like we went out on the small boat in rough seas and half the people ended up sick. No room to move around either. We ended up catching only 2 fish. The crew helping were not very professional and Definitely Do about use the people that gut and clean your fish at the end of the trip. You will end up with a very small piece of fillet and you pay to much for that. read more

Price is good for a 5 hour trip, but that's 2 hours out to sea, about an hour of fishing and two hours to get back to shore. Everything is provided for you, and the crew takes care of the fish caught and hands your catch back once docked. Crew is as friendly as any fishing crew can be, and the boat ain't much but a big metal fishing vessel with an indoor area but not a whole lot of seating available. For me, the bad part was the ride out to sea on super choppy waters where rides look over 10 feet tall. It was fun at first with gallons of sea water spraying on you and just a rocking motion. But as soon as the waves got higher the boat would go up, hang for a bit and then slam back down on the water. I tolerated it for about 90 minutes and boy did it become painful. But once we reach the location there were fish everywhere. Everyone caught at least two fishes, but some were too small so they had to be thrown back in the water. I ended up with two great redfishes that were yummy later that evening. I would suggest to either ask the captain or check weather reports for those choppy waters or that 2 hours will be painful!! read more

We went with my husbands sister and brother in law. He had been before and had met on of the crew while fishing at the pier. Lloyd and Cam took great care of us, helped us catch fish while being safe. Cam was very knowledgeable and helped us to learn. I caught the biggest fish I've ever caught in my life!! With the help of Captain Jake! TY!! The boat is fairly crowded. Lines get tangled when fish are fighting but the crew helped to make sure the fish came in again while keeping everyone safe! When it came time to collect they claimed they were thrown out.... watched the dude place them in the bucket and at the end of collection they had 2 "unclaimed" fishes.. 4th year on the 12hr trip and limited out on red snappers again. It was a rough weather trip this year and no vermilions were caught this time. My only complaint was the boat was way overloaded with people this year with lots of tangles the whole time. In the past there were only about 25 to 30 people fishing on the boat which was perfect. This time there was 52 which made fishing very challenging. 25 to 30 people is optimal, I wish they would just limit it to that. But all and all had a good time read more

I tried to buy dead crabs and they sold me shrimp at Fishing Deep Sea Headquarters. I said I did not want shrimp, was looking for crabs... I could have not been more clear. Employees said only manager can refund money... he will be back tomorrow and tired several times to find manager... Manager basically said tough luck, felt like he was calling me a liar in condensing manner and had a very impolite non-customer mannerism along with their employees... Would not make it right or in a very unfriendly unpolite etiquette. I will never shop there again and I was going to go on a 60 hr. trip... I will take a trip once a month. advise any not to patronize this place because they suck... the manager sucks and I will always tell people so, I am a local to Port A. read more

We have been deep sea fishing several times and have had various experiences. While the shipmates were very hard working and very nice, it was a pretty disappointing trip. This company drives you out for two hours, we fish for 45 minutes, and drive back for two hours. There were very little snacks to eat, small bag of chips for $3 and candy bars. our group of 7 people should have just rented our own boat. read more

We booked a bay fishing trip for a group of 8 and it was honestly a complete waste of time and money. We sat in one single spot the entire evening -- no movement, no effort to chase fish, no variety. I've been on other charters before and they at least try multiple areas to improve the experience. This felt like they didn't even bother. For what we paid, this was extremely disappointing. The deckhands were the only good part of the trip -- they worked hard and did what they could, but the rest was a joke. I have been out with Deep Sea Headquarters, 7-8 times now, and I have never been disappointed! Their crew is always top notch, we always get put on fish, and we always come home with even better family memories. I cannot recommend them enough. If you are thinking about going, just do it. The fact that you can have the fish house clean and filet the fish for you while you go next door and eat dinner at Fins is a no brainer as well. We went out on an 8 hour trip 6/7/2025. The swells were pretty crazy. We laughed our butts off because going out we were on the side that got hammered with the water. We were lucky because we are used to big swells, but a lot on the boat were not! lots of pukers! Colton was a deckhand with the most epic mullet I've ever seen in my life! Billy Cyrus eat your heart out! I would have gotten a picture, but my phone was lost to Davy Jones' locker! Memories we will never forget! We've been on A LOT of charters all over, and those deck hands busted their as*es trying to accommodate a full boat. 52 people for 2 deckhands is a lot. Great job guys! The crew worked their butts off and did an amazing job! We had zero issues with the work of the crew. That being said, we spent more time just sitting on the boat than fishing. They took us 30 miles out almost 3 hours getting there for only 2.5 hours of actual fishing. Also the boat was seriously over crowded! I know its how they make money but it was so crowded we couldn't even fish without everyone's lines tangling every 5 minutes and having to be cut and re rigged constantly. The final issue we had was my husband is an insulin dependent diabetic and we were told not to bring any food or snacks that they would be provided but they had VERY little options and no real sandwiches or snacks just a box of microwave hamburgers and a variety box of chips and crackers. His blood sugar dropped they had no candy or cookies or anything sweet other than a can of coke. So we will definitely bring what we need next time cause he can't just hope they have normal concessions and food. My brother in law had a similar issue that we were on an 8 hour trip with no real food options and he had some blood sugar issues as well. So I would say those big issues kind of brought the trip down for us. We paid over 400 dollars to not be able to fish really cause it was so crowded and only like 2.5 hours of fishing time on an 8 hour fishing trip. We will definitely go smaller next time. read more

We got there and we were told no outside drinks or liquids which is completely fine. We buy water and other drinks from them in their store then we get to the boat and we are told we have to throw them away or we can't board. That is completely ridiculous. I can understand no outside drinks but they should have told us if you buy something from the store you can't take on the boat. We had to trash our drinks. Then we go on a 5 hour trip and only get to fish for 30 min. The captain was rude with every single interaction. We get back and have to wait almost two hours to get our fish filet. They closed down the entire business and left us in the dark just sitting there waiting for one guy to clean the whole boats fish. We waited for 1 hour and 45 minutes to pick up our fish. I have been out with Deep Sea Headquarters in the past, which is why we come back. I understand "off" days....I have been an outdoorsman all my life. Sometimes you hear "you should have been here yesterday" and sometimes you get to be someone else's "yesterday speech". I will give kudos to the deck hands, who worked their butts off. They knew their stuff. I had 6 in my party, and we all have made this trip multiple times and have experience. We always do a bay fishing trip as it keeps my wife feeling comfortable and me or the kids (all 16 or older) from getting motion sick. I feel like we were probably the easier part of the party boat to work with. We bait our hooks, remove our fish, and detangle our own backlashes. However, I cannot give the Captain much grace. First, we were late to pull away from the dock. It was supposed to be an 8AM start. We didn't leave until 8:20. Then he tried to pull away without letting the deck hands to untie the boat. After a few minutes of back and forth we pulled out of the slip and were on our way for a boat ride of less than 10 minutes, half of which was in a no-wake zone. In other words, we were not out of sight of the dock when we pulled up to the first spot and dropped anchor. We spent the rest of the morning fishing for 20 minutes, then moving 100 yards or so back and forth in the channel. We fished from about 50' to 25' of water the whole time. My group of six caught the ONLY two fish kept the whole trip....two small Whiting....and there were at least 30 people on the boat. We caught a few small hardheads, and I caught a Sea Robin.....but only one other person besides my 6 caught anything on my side of the boat and that was a hard head. IMO the late start got us a stop in the first place the captain thought was feasible rather than something that was going to produce. Because he committed to that tactic, we were stuck in marginal water the whole time. In past trips, the boat ride was 25 minutes or more, and all we did was bend lips on Gaftop, whiting and sharks. Hey, it's a bay fishing trip.....but we spent $360+ and caught less fish than when we were casting in the surf later that day at the beach. Yeah it's a party boat experience and not a charter, I get it. But the fishing was far worse than what we did to pass the time while the girls tanned by the condo, and definitely not what we experienced in the past, so no, not giving them any grace. This wasn't "we really tried, they just weren't there".....it was more like "just get their lines in the water, it doesn't matter". read more

we had an ok trip. I think all 3 of our deck hands were brand new so they were still learning. my large snapper got put on the wrong stringer and went home with someone else they gave me a different one but it was not near as big as what I caught. the water was rough so many passengers (including me) got really sick but that's not the crews fault. overall I think if there was a bracelet or something with our number on it the fish wouldn't get mixed up. I would go again with the hopes of calmer water, more experienced crew and coming home with my own catch. read more
