They work for the insurance company NOT you Please read the entire review to understand why the low rating. My beautiful Mercedes hardtop convertible sports car was hit by a drunk that crossed the center median. Along with destroying the rear quarter, the impact was so forceful it broke the driver's seat. First stop was Mercedes. They recommended Coastal adding we do not show a rear quarter in stock anywhere in the United States so it may be some time before your repairs will be complete. Nice folks at Coastal. I explained the damage, that I had worked in a paint/body shop and, if the uniframe was bent, I was going to ask the insurance company to total the car. Additionally, I want to see my car when it is apart. Coastal added that the repair would take some time as only Mercedes was qualified to remove/reinstall my hardtop roof and they were slow. Months previously, Mercedes, under warranty, had replaced my roof for a cost exceeding $10K so I knew a lot about hardtop convertible repair. The new roof had to come from Germany. Several months after I dropped my car off, I get a call 'your car is ready.' The paint match and panel alignment were perfect to the untrained eye but acceptable. Everything looked great. The small paint runs were unacceptable but more, the seat had not been repaired. Got my car back and the alignment was wrong plus the top creaked badly. Back to Coastal and learned they had decided to do the roof remove/reinstall themselves. Off to Mercedes to fix the alignment and roof. Now I go to pickup my car and find the seat has still not been repaired. Another week and I finally get my car back. Reading the final invoice, buried was a four (4) hour charge to straighten the uniframe. My questions went unanswered so I drove my beautiful Mercedes hardtop convertible sports car to the dealer and sold my car at a loss I estimate at $8K-9K. No idea of the actual condition of my uniframe but I am not willing to take the risk. Now it is Mercedes responsibility. read more

BEWARE! COASTAL CAN DESTROY YOUR CAR!!! Oh my gosh, where to begin. . . my beautiful blue Hyundai Tucson looked great when I picked it up from Coastal Body Works. BUT, the engine light was ON. Asked the mechanic to look at this before we even left. . . a few minutes later, he came back and said, "No problem! Light's off now, a rookie mistake that they forgot to reset." Hmmm... okay. I trusted him. June 7th: Engine light reappears! Took it back to Coastal Body Works where they said it came on because of condensation and that car was ok to drive. (He'd put in on the computer again, he claimed.) I trusted him and Coastal again. I told him I need to drive to Mississippi soon: no problem he said. I trusted he wouldn't lie to me. BTW, I am 75 year old woman, diabetic, and the last thing I need is to be stranded on I-10 in 90 degree heat! ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON! Feeling somewhat uncomfortable with light still on, my husband decided to take the car to Allen Turner Hyundi on June 14th. (He's not so young himself.) ALLEN TURNER FOUND OUT why the engine light was warning us something was VERY wrong: The 02 sensor was not connected on one end, and had been destroyed on the other end by the animal. Driving the car like that would damage the catyaltic converter!! (Coastal missed this entirely.) Further investigation by Allen Turner's mechanics found the computer harness had been partially shorted out and needed replacement! (Coastal missed this. . . is their computer dead and their mechanic blind?) This is a drawn out and expensive fix that Coastal missed all together. I trusted them and they did me wrong, as the song goes, but it's neither amusing, cheap, or right how they treated this customer. DO you think they will treat your car any better? I wasn't going to post this, but after discovering so many things they had missed, or flat out did not fix/actually broke, I had to share. This place screwed up my car (2011 Scion tC). After a delivery truck backed into it while it was parked downtown, we took it here going off all of the wonderful reviews we had read. Our experience was not so wonderful. Main issues: 1. They charged for parts they did not replace (I.e. a brand new rim that they never actually purchased, only painted the old rim. You can tell by the paint hue difference and markings I had on it before). 2. They replaced the driver side quarter panel, and in turn, for some odd reason, did not install the driver side front inner fender. It's completely missing! I noticed when I heard a rattling noise because my front bumper now moves due to it not being completely missing. 3. When they hooked the fuses back up in the car, they put some in backward, which caused my rear window defroster to short out and ruin my window tint. 4. When we came to pick up the car after being notified that it was ready, I drove off and noticed my tail lights or signals weren't working. Went back, and they said "oops, we must've rushed and forgot to hook them up." The man I spoke to was also rude about me pointing that out. Mind you, I was professional about it. Summary: If this place is the best in town, shouldn't there be a quality check after finishing the job? Maybe all of the other items above would have been remedied as well. Who knows, but I was and still am deeply dissatisfied and angry at myself for trusting them with my vehicle. read more

My experience at this shop was really good they provided me with up to date photos through text messages which I didn't expect. It was much appreciated since you don't have to call up asking every other day what's going on like other shops. Don't trust these folks. They cannot be relied upon. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you don't mind being lied to and being without your car for a completely indefinite amount of time. It's as if they don't have a clue (after 10 days) of what it's going to take to fix a car. They're solution to questions like 'when do you think the car will be ready?' is to 1) give you a completely unrealistic date which they never intended to deliver on and 2) simply not return calls (at least, this is Travis's MO). All the staff at Coastal Body Works are wonderful, from the friendly people in the front office to the skilled mechanics they have in the shop. I came in with a dent that I wanted repaired after another shop had said that they could not repair and would have to replace the panel. Coastal Body Works was able to repair, refinish, and repaint the panel, including replacing the light, in a very timely fashion. I hope I don't need any repair work done in the future, but if I do I will certainly be coming back to Coastal Body Works. read more
