Difficult giving instructions that staff could understand. Missing box of hand tools, torn boxes of personal items, and vacuum cleaner never made it. It is best to not mix any stuff not to be loaded on truck. If it is going to be left behind, put it away from pickup items. Crew loaded a bunch of junk I asked them not to ship. Antique furniture was ruined by scratches and grip marks in the finish despite being wrapped. The under estimated quote at the start was the worst of all. Had to recalculate budget to ensure items shipped. After third-party contracted for final ship and delivery, I felt like it belongings were being held for ransom until new final rate and card fees were paid. Free storage is a joke. read more

This was the absolute worst experience I've ever had. This company agreed on a quote for our move we gave them a full rundown of our moving inventory and we were approved for 1,900$ for a one bedroom apartment move. On the day of our move as they were moving stuff into their moving trucks the movers stopped and stated that our inventory exceeded the allotted space for our move despite the pre approved pricing for our stuff. They ended up charging us an additional 1100$ on top of the 1900$ we already paid or they would take out our stuff and basically cancel the move. Our items were then delivered super late so we had to stay at our new place with no furniture. The day of the delivery we were called and told that the company needs to rent another moving truck and they demanded and additional 150$ or we wouldn't get our stuff back. Once we got our stuff delivered every box we had was shredded and damaged we had multiple pieces of large furniture that were damaged heavily and no longer usable. Over all the worst experience I've ever had. Do not choose this company for moving unless you're willing to go thousands of dollars over budget and having to replace your damaged furniture. read more

Coastal Moving Services (Poor Customer Experience) I am submitting this complaint to document my extremely poor experience with Coastal Moving Services and to warn others considering using this company. There has not been a single aspect of this process that has gone well. Moving is already a stressful experience, and this company turned it into an absolute nightmare. The issues began immediately before pickup. The day prior, I was given a scheduled pickup window of 2-4 PM. However, the moving team arrived the following morning at 10 AM because, according to them, my move was their "last job for the day." Unfortunately, I allowed the early arrival even though it disrupted my schedule. I work from home and did not have dedicated time set aside to supervise the entire move. While the movers were finishing up, I was on a work call. They asked me to sign the paperwork, which I did so I could return to work. About thirty minutes later, when I was finally able to go downstairs to my basement, I discovered that they had left several items behind. I immediately called the driver, who did not answer. I then contacted customer service and was told that I had gone "over on space" and that I had already signed off on the shipment. I reminded them that when I initially booked the move, I was told the space estimate was only an estimate and that if there were any overages, the cost would simply be adjusted accordingly. The items left behind were clearly not related to any space overage--they were simply forgotten. After pushing the issue, customer service said they would see if the movers could return another day to collect the remaining items. The driver contacted me asking for a photo of the items left behind, which I sent immediately. No one ever followed up, and no time was scheduled for pickup. Next, I was asked for the earliest possible delivery date for my shipment. I said Saturday, which they told me was the earliest available option. When Saturday came, no one contacted me. When I reached out to customer service, I discovered another major issue: Coastal Moving Services is only a broker, and the representatives I was speaking with had no visibility into where my belongings were or when they would arrive. They said they would have to contact the actual carrier and get back to me. They never did. I called again on Sunday and received the same runaround with no clear answers. On Monday--a full week after pickup--I finally spoke with someone who claimed my belongings were in the local area and that they were working on scheduling delivery. I believed this was finally a straightforward update. Unfortunately, that turned out not to be the case. Nearly another full week passed with no communication whatsoever. When I called again on Thursday, I was met with another unhelpful and arrogant customer service representative who proceeded to lecture me about their process. I was then told that it was "not practical" to expect delivery on the date they themselves suggested as the earliest possible option. Instead, I was told it could take two weeks or more. As of my last update, my belongings have not even left my home state and are still sitting in their warehouse. I still do not have my items, and I have no clear timeline for when they will arrive. This experience has been nothing short of atrocious. Coastal Moving Services was quick to take payment for the service, but after that, I was passed off to a customer service team that provides no real service, offers conflicting information, and has no ability to actually help. I do NOT recommend. The price was good but there is zero customer service after you give them your money. They are high pressure and want to close the deal "today". They outsourced my move to a company barely better than day workers you'd find on the corner. They broke the leg of an expensive CB2 bed and hid the damage while messily doing a glue job to keep me from knowing. The also failed to deliver another very stylish accent table which I didn't miss until after they had been paid. Once they had their paperwork signed off on they were "no contact". I imformed Coastal of the situation, my damaged bed and missing item, but they said I would need to file a claim with the underlings to who they had subcontracted the job. Six months later and my bed is completely broken (CB2 states they will not order me a replacement leg as it was ordered 3 years ago - I'm not very thrilled with them either). Worst Moving Experience - Beware of Coastal Moving Services This is by far the worst moving experience I have ever had. I am writing this so others know what to expect before making the same mistake. Coastal Moving Services is very nice and responsive when you first call -- that's how they hook you. Once you sign the contract, everything collapses. They completely stop caring about you as a customer. They claim they will call one day in advance to coordinate pickup. They do not. Instead, you are left calling them repeatedly, trying to figure out what is happening with your move. Then, without proper explanation, a completely different moving company shows up to pick up your belongings and immediately tries to charge you extra for everything. Coastal does not tell you this in advance. At delivery, things got even worse. My contract with Coastal clearly states two delivery locations, yet the delivery company said they had no idea about the second stop -- even though it was in my signed contract. This "new" company (managed by Russians, a company I had never heard of) claimed they did not even know who Coastal Moving Services was and refused to make the second delivery stop. They were hostile, rude, and unprofessional. When my belongings arrived, many pieces of furniture were broken, numerous items were missing, and entire boxes had disappeared. They did not care at all. They refused to finish the job and left me stranded. I had to hire local people with a pickup truck just to move the rest of my things after they walked away. On delivery day, I spent hours on the phone while Coastal and the delivery company blamed each other. No solutions. No accountability. Nobody cared. This felt like a complete scam. I am moving across the west coast to the east coast and I reached out to Coastal Moving for a quote in early February. It was extremely low at around $2000 where everywhere else was $3000-$4000 which immediately raised some red flags. I looked online, saw the reviews, trusted my gut, and told them I was going through with a different company the same day. Since then I have been getting repeated texts and calls from this company every business day. I have blocked 5 different numbers coming from this company and they are still contacting me. Working with Coastal is something I would only recommend to people I dislike. Their sales tactics are agressive and exploitative. They coerced my parent into signing a contract before they provided a real quote for our 4+ bed room home. The quote they gave us, after she signed their contract, was not for a move of our volume. The sales representative had us down for 20 boxes and some furniture - in reality we had about 150 boxes and a lot of very heavy furniture plus an upright freezer. When my mother pointed out the discrepancy, our price almost doubled and there was no way at that point to get out of the contract they had made her sign. This felt like a bait and switch; on moving day it became clear to me that the "discrepancy" in estimated move size was something they do frequently. So far the sales team have been aggressive and duplicitous about pricing but they also demanded an exorbitant deposit! Without actually sending anyone to properly estimate the volume of goods, or provide literally any type of service they demanded $2000 as a deposit! I understand the need for deposits, but a deposit of that size for unrealized services is bonkers. Whatever. My parent pays the deposit via credit card and the move date is scheduled. The move was scheduled for Friday January 2nd. About a week before that date they contact us to inform us of a schedule conflict (?), and we happily agree to do the move on Saturday January 3rd to accommodate them - it also gave us another day to pack. On thursday they call and tell us their people are "in Ohio" (where we live) and they want us to go back to our original schedule date! We emphatically declined; they had already rescheduled us once for their convenience and for the price they were charging us we weren't going to accommodate them again. Saturday comes and we are told to expect them between 11am - 12pm. Noon comes and no movers. We reach out to Coastal. Answering machine, no one is in the office on a saturday!? Whaaat? My parent leaves a message and someone fortunately does call us back in a reasonable time, but the person on the phone doesn't know anything about where our movers are. We are put on hold. After sitting on hold for ten minutes our call is transferred to some representative who simply says, "They'll be there in half an hour." and hangs up! No explanation, no reassurance, no opportunity for us to even ask a question. We can't do anything about this, so we just wait... And we wait. And wait. At four o'clock we call again and I am angry at this point. We have been waiting for our movers for five hours!!! The woman on the phone giving us the scripted "I'm sorry, blah blah" and I'm not having it. I demand they give us a discount for this waste of our time and she says there isn't anything she can do! Well, let me talk to your manager then! She claims to be the manager so I reiterate I want to talk to someone above her, she refuses. I'm very irate at this point and I'm sure I was speaking louder than necessary (the whole conversation was had on speaker), I begin regaling her with the litany of disrespect their company has exercised against my family. She keeps trying to interrupt me - I don't yield to her so her response is to accuse me of yelling at her and she puts me on hold! As if I were some petulant child demanding something outrageous! After this absolute shit show of insulting "customer service"I tell her I want to cancel this contract as they arent holding up their end of the deal - her response is that we can't because my parent signed a contract and none of this will hold up in court! She tells us they're en route and hangs up. I am absolutely dumbfounded by the complete hostility and indifference to our time this company has chosen to express to us. At roughly 5pm the movers finally show up, the sun is setting, the temperature is dropping and we are all extremely upset about the whole experience so far. The head mover then proceeds to explain that they only accept cash or money orders (which must come from Wal-Mart exclusively?!) and the final cost is determined by the cubic feet our possessions fill! This is the FIRST TIME anything like this has been expressed to us! We didn't have cash, and we certainly didnt expect to pay based on volume when we received an estimate based on...well, I dont know how the estimate was made, if you recall, Coastal never sent anyone to appraise our content! If we had been informed of this method, we would have packed our boxes very differently, if we had been informed this sooner we wouldn't have signed that stupid contract. On top of this, the movers didn't listen, disrespected both houses, and ignored repeated orders they NOT stack my boxes six high on their handtrucks. Many times I discovered boxes marked "Fragile" being crushed under boxes clearly marked as heavy. The final charge for a 6 mile move came out to be ~$7500. They didn't even bring our freezer. CAUTION, this is a Bait and Switch company. Coastal Movers provided me with an original estimate that was almost 4x lower than the actual cost. During the initial call, I provided them with the dimensions of my stuffed storage shed that was to be moved (10'x20'x8' high, which comes out to 1,600 cubic feet), they quoted me a little over $4,000 (but, unknown to me, they had only estimated 431 cubic feet). An initial non-refundable deposit was required at this time in order to move forward in their process. When the quality control member called me to give an estimate according to photos (just two days before the scheduled move was to occur), the price jumped to ~$10,400 and there was no way to get the deposit back--I had to choose to either move forward or lose my ~$1,700 deposit. Feeling stuck, being so near to the moving date, I agreed to move forward and they required another ~$2,500 to continue. The move has not yet happened, I will update this post after that time. UPDATE: On moving day a logistics company showed up with a rented 1,700 cubic foot U-haul truck and two laborers they got off of CraigsList that morning (who had never worked in moving before). The logistics company worker did an estimate of his own and thought the total cubic footage to be closer to 2,000 cubic feet. He called Coastal Movers who called me back with a new price of ~$16,000 (4x the original estimate of ~$4,000). They again asked for more money to go forward in the process and I finally pulled the plug--every time I spoke with them the price went up about $5,000. At this point I have paid them about $4,280 and they refused to refund any of that money. That evening I contacted my credit card company, the one I had used to pay Coastal, and told them my story. They agreed to take the Coastal Movers charge off my bill for now while they investigate the matter. In the meantime, I had another company move my belongings and it came out to just over 1,600 cubic feet--the exact number I gave Coastal Movers from the beginning! It is currently being moved for $7,500 which seems like a fair price for this time of the year (January). I will update this post as events continue to open. read more

This was a horrible moving experience. Coastal is just a broker who finds companies willing to move for the lowball price that they quote. Once they took our money, Coastal was not help at all. They could not tell us when a mover would arrive, and when our stuff would be moved. When the mover showed up, they said that the quote was too low and we had to pay an additional $1,300 (50% increase). When we refused to pay that and threatened to cancel the move (losing our $1,200 deposit), the mover finally agreed to a $500 increase. Well, my initial estimate was $2,947.00. After all said and done, $7,000.00! Yes, they are the original contractors, but they gave me a price when I had just started to pack. Then called 3 days before the scheduled pick up date and after giving as much detail as I could, price jumped to over $5,000. Because I paid half the initial quote I was stuck. Then the 2nd party company came to pick up my stuff and the price went up again because I would need more space than Coastal calculated. I was never verbally told that my load would be combined with other people's stuff, and they would be taking my load to LA while they waited to, wait for it, fill an 18 wheeler! The 3rd party, Aliz Trucking, very rude man, hung up on me. Then the storage facility couldn't accommodate a big truck so I would be charged for a shuttle to unload the 18 wheeler and take my stuff to my unit. Thankfully the storage company, Mohave Storage, was able to switch me to another facility just down the street that the semi could fit. So there were 3 companies involved with a less than 300 mile move. On top of not getting a date for delivery, the customer service man I spoke with was the rudest person on the phone. So, don't use this company. They are based out of Florida and I was in CA. Find a local company. Very bad experience, also, took 7 days to get my stuff. read more

TERRIBLE!!! This is hands down the worst moving company I've ever dealt with. Coastal Moving is dishonest, unprofessional, and completely unaccountable. They lied just to make the sale, promising us our belongings would arrive in 4-5 days -- it's now been over 3 weeks, and we still have no idea where our stuff is or when it will show up. Every time we call, we're given a new excuse, a new delivery "window," or are told to "read the fine print." They constantly shift blame, dodge responsibility, and pass us between reps who have no clue what's going on. It's obvious they say whatever they need to just to get your money, then disappear. This isn't just our experience -- do yourself a favor and read all the other terrible reviews. Families with newborns waiting a month for cribs, people left with no furniture or essentials for weeks. This isn't a rare issue -- this is how they operate. I regret ever trusting them. I would've been better off renting a U-Haul and driving it across the country myself. I fortunately recorded all calls. I talked to 2 other movers who warned me about coastal adding fees and getting you in a contract with a deposit then adding more and more as the move progressed. I figured they just wanted my business. Unfortunately they were correct. It started with a great proce that I signed on to then the phone call came to confirm the items I needed to have moved. They charged me 2000. More dollars even though I went over the list with the first agent. The movers showed up a the house and decided thy need to charge me more money for more space in the truck even though I went through the items list throughly twice before. They packed up half the items I needed moved left half a couc, they took apart an expensive table that was not supposed to be taken apart and left that in pieces, did not move it. Pictures were sent to me from the girls at the house. Literally half of the items were left behind In pieces. I ended up having them bring back my things because the item list I gave them multiple times they refused to move with out more money. I sent the recorded conversations and all paper work to my lawyer and he is now getting involved also the better business bureau. This company is truly scammers with no integrity! I would give it a one except the local movers that the job was subcontracted out to ( Early Bird movers in Ohio) were decent folk.. I was totally scammed and cheated by the coastal moving company. I didn't realize I was hiring a broker, not the actual movers that I would be working with. They underestimated the items I had although we FaceTime and I showed them everything--then came with a smaller truck then was needed. I had to hire another mover to finish the job. I was overcharged by $2000 and they would not deliver my items until I paid them in cash $3600. Items were damaged in transit too -- overall the experience was the worst movie experience I've ever had and I've moved over 10 times in my life!!! The salesman who initially sold me on the move and took my deposit of $2600 was charming and friendly and convinced me that this was a great company. Once they got my money, I never heard from that salesman again and was unable to contact anyone in customer service who treated me with any sort of professional courtesy or kindness.. Coastal moving services are made up of liars and scammers. The are brokers that work with actual moving company. The representative at coastal moving services tell you what they want in order to get your money and they lie about when your house hold goods will actually reach your destination. I never knew that I was paying for space on a truck and also that my things will be pick up by one truck and then drop off at a location in Florida while it actually waits for another truck to load my things on again. This is how things will get damaged.....the representative at coastal told me 10 to 12 days and its day 18 now since they picked up my house hold goods and my things are still in Florida while I am in Washington and my things was picked up from ny house 2 days before I started to drive to Washington. Then when I call they want to get upset at me after they told me a **** lie because I would never wait 21 to 30 days to get my things and u have my children things that I need....these people are blatant liars.....they talk nice to you when they want to get your money and believe me they are skilled in the way how they try to make you look stupid. Talking about read damn contract....you sign the damnn contract because of questions thats you asked them and they tell you by mouth, why they never said read the contract before you sign and pay your your money these liars. After receiving what was an awful attempt at an apology, the company still fails to recognize it's part in my experience with their company. Instead they continue to tell me how uneducated and incompetent I am, and how running a moving company is more than my poor little brain could ever comprehend. At no point did I ever assume I could do their job better than them. But when your website says call for a quote, and I do such, and then you tell me it should take around 4 hours, I believe you because you are the "professional". I also understand that it is simply a quote! So i budget for 5 hours instead. Then the day of the move, the movers are late...fine I get it, there's unexpected traffic; yet they act like they're right on time instead (later billing me for a time before they actually arrived). Then when the mover gets there he tells me this job is going to take 8 hours. That is DOUBLE the time of the quote given to me. I tell him about the quoted time, and he proceeds to tell me, they don't give quotes (though the website states otherwise and i indeed received one from Ryan) and that the guy who runs the office obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. Then he tells me if I don't like it I can call someone else to come help me move. At this point I start helping them move myself, because I financially can't afford to pay them for 8 hours...i budgeted for at most 5-6 hours. He then tells me I have to pay for the first 3 hours upfront and in cash. Another thing that upsets me, because i specifically asked Ryan when I scheduled the move, if I would be paying for all of the services at the end of the move; he said yes. The main mover insisted otherwise, causing more tension. This company feels that they can intimidate their customers. Instead of righting their wrong, or actually apologizing (as I myself have done in my years of customer service, regardless if I was right or wrong in the matter). In the end my move took 3.5hrs, because I busted my butt helping these guys move my stuff. How is it, that your 2 professional movers would take 8 hours, but factor in an incompetent and brainless 5'4" girl...and the moving time gets cut by more than half? The two were SO angry at each other that they could not be in the same room, preventing them from cooperating. It significantly slowed our move down, which we were paying hourly for. The move took so long that we may be charged an additional move out fee from our HOA (still waiting to find out). The situation erupted when the guys got into a SCREAMING match and they went storming off. My roommate and I ended up having to help get the HEAVIEST furniture out of our apartment (sectional couch, kitchen table, etc!!) after the fight because the movers would not cooperate with each other. When I called the manager asking for help he was extremely rude and unapologetic. He asked me what I wanted him to do about it. I asked him to talk to the guys at my house and for a discount for the wasted time. I was informed that there would be no discount because "they were the cheapest movers in San Diego," I told him that I shouldn't have to pay when he wasn't holding up his end of the contract. He still firmly said the only thing that he could do to help was call the movers at my house. The movers did cool down and moving was faster after that, but it was a very uncomfortable situation for me and my roommate. The manager never followed up. I tried following up the next day and asked if we could have a civilized discussion about what happened and the charges. In a nutshell, I got yelled at by the manager (again) then was hung up on. I feel like I was completely patronized when I tried to resolve the issue in a mature manner. The manager lacked common courtesy when he absolutely refused to discuss a refund of only an hour's service. He did not take responsibility for his employees and continued to yell at me (the customer). I have never had such of a rude experience with someone that I was PAYING! This is the worst company. The manager is just as rude as the driver who stood for 5 min yelling a me rudely. I literally got one truck over to storage (half of the truck was their blankets) , the charged me 15 min drive time for a destination of 5 min, twice might I add) & then with the help of 5 of us loaded 3/4 of the truck of boxes, leaving at least one more load sitting in my driveway. I will never recommend this company to another unless your gluten for punishment. I have seen guys do much better work in half the time. The guys are slow incompetent and half the truck is blankets . The manager asked "how are we supposed to wrap your belongings?" What a f$#/%,n joke. They did not "wrap" one, not one of my belongings. I'm reviewing this company in real-time... I spoke with Ryan and requested a quote for a living room and kitchen pack up and move. He quoted me for 2 guys and a truck for $237. I asked, if it covered everything and was told yes. - The guys got here on time, that was a plus. - They were efficient with my stuff, another plus. The crap goes down hill when they inform me that it's an extra cost for the materials to pack my kitchen. Called Ryan and he tells me that we did not speak about packing materials or he would've quoted me differently. Since I allegedly didn't specify that I needed my kitchen packed, that I needed to go get my own wrapping paper from Homedepot. Who requests a quote for the PACKING & SHIPPING of a "kitchen" & "living-room" and packing materials not be expected?!?! I'm fuming because this packing manager is not taking ownership of his errors and I'm pissed at myself for not yelping this company before using them. Suggestion: If you still decide to use this company, be sure to get the quote in writing and not depend that what you're being told is truth. Like another reviewer said, although they're cheap, you get what you pay for! I may need to also alert the BBB and site poor business practices. I hope that anyone considering this company as a mover reads this review. If you are, DON'T USE COASTAL MOVING AT 858-397-5586 - sdcoastalmoving.com First, They were supposed to arrive between 8 and 9 am. They didn't call until almost 9am to say that they were on their way. They had to stop to get fuel. They did not arrive until 9:40 am and started at 10 am. A solid hour after they should have started. Shouldn't getting fuel have been considered when they told me they would be there between 8 and 9? Ryan even called to confirm that the day before that they would be there between 8 and 9. Second, we had other people to help in the move. We were only moving 2 1/2 blocks away. I originally hired Coastal Moving to move just the heavier items. I was told it would be a 3 hour minimum. Out of the 33 items I wanted them to move, they only moved 20 and took 3 hours to load and 2 1/2 to unload. They charged me for 5 hours instead of 5 1/2 because they had left their tools and my husband had to run to the other house to get them. The reason they only moved 20 items is because the people helping us move the smaller stuff were tired of waiting around for them and they moved the other 33 items. They didn't even have to move boxes - not one box. One of the items they moved was a hutch and they left the shelves for the hutch at the other house. My husband moved them. I called Ryan and asked for an hour back as there was no way I should have been charged for five hours as it shouldn't have taken that long. They did estimate 5 hours and Ryan's response was wow they estimated five and it took five. Isn't it better to exceed expectations? I certainly think so. I even told the guys when they got there that the other people were rocking and rolling and it shouldn't take them that long. I honestly expected that it would be closer to the three hour minimum and in my mind figured on four at the most. A dresser that I had asked to be moved to another room at our new house was never moved. Ryan said he would not was give me an hour back because the work had already been done. In retrospect, I guess I should have called my bank and told them not to pay. The guys were nice enough to help the organ mover because he was not equipped to move the organ he was hired to move, but even with that it should have not taken more than 4 hours. I honestly think they just took their time because they didn't want a 3 hour job. I've had professional movers before and those movers hustled and didn't damage or break anything. They definitely didn't leave their tools or part of the items they were asked to move. Bottom line: Coastal Moving was LATE and they were SLOW. Ryan does not have a customer service bone in his body. He was not pleasant to talk to and certainly did not care that is crew took their time. I have already told a lot of people how bad the experience was and I will continue to tell every body I know. WARNING!!!!!!! DO NOT EVER USE THESE PEOPLE!! YOU WILL HAVE A HORRIBLE HORRIFIC AWFUL EXPERIENCE. Where to even begin? They damage you furnishing, they do not show up at the scheduled time, they don't send the amount of people you have ordered, the staff is rude and incompetent, the dispatch is unreasonable, there is a nonexistent owner/manager who does not address concerns to name a few complaints. We scheduled a move with this company for our office and they showed up late. We had ordered 3 men to move our office furniture and instead 2 showed up. The initial estimate was $105 per hour for 3 guys and they wanted to charge the full amount for less men. We had to call the dispatch office and complain in order for them to knock the pricing down to $75.00 for 2 men for 4 hours. The new location was literally 1.5 miles away and the policy is to double the driving time. I followed the truck tot he new office and arrived in about 7 minutes but they clocked in at 15 minutes therefore was charged for 30 minutes. When moving the office furnishing, one guy dropped the filing cabinet from the truck destroying the cabinet and it is useless. When asked what they would do to accommodate they just said to file a claim. When we called the office, they promised to fax/email a claim form. 5 days later there still hasn't been a receipt of a claim form. When we called the dispatch, he was rude and hung up on us. Unfortunately, we had also booked the same company for the my personal home. They arrived 2 hours early and complained that they had to work on Superbowl day. They offered to stop the clock if I allowed them to watch part of the game. I said no, because I was on a time crunch and then the attitude started. It was a nightmare from start to finish. They again did not send the 3 men to move instead sent 2. And I was told that the size of the move required 2 trips not ine. Their company truck broke down so they rented a Uhaul, which was fine. But when they finished loading, they couldn't start the truck. The driver, Angel, had US call Uhaul and road side assistance. he didn't have the contract so did not know the details of the rental, it never occurred to him to call his office or manager for details. It turned out that the battery had died. He then accused me of leaving the lights on therefore draining his battery and making the car die. EXCUSE ME????? Uhaul asked me to follow a 3 step process to see if it was a battery issue. The second mover was in the passenger seat with me and saw me follow the steps and but the lead mover still accused me of causing the dead truck. HELLO!!! The truck was dead to begin with! We had to wait for an hour until the truck was started again by road side assistance. Once we arrived at the new location, Angel asked for the money up front before unloading. I asked what I was paying for? The time so far, or the total, and if that is true then what is the estimated time since there was a second trip. He could not answer me but just wanted money and called his office. The dispatcher, Joe was nice enough at first to try to solve the problems. He told me to pay for the amount worked and then we would switch to an hourly rate. I agreed to do that. Angel was rude and disrespectful the entire time he was unloading. And afterwards they left and never returned. The entire second load was left at the house. We contacted Joe and spoke with Brad, the manager. We were promised that the owner would call us back regarding the disappointing move but that never happened. We were then promised another set of movers for the next day in between 11-12. The next day we called to confirm at 10, and received confirmation that they would be there in between 11-12. At 11:30, we called and were told that there were on their way. At 12:10, we called again, and Joe said that there was a delay in the earlier job and they wouldn't be able to be there until 4. It was a set up. Then Joe started to yell, saying that were ungrateful and that we should understand that people do not want to work on Superbowl Sunday and that we had cancelled at the last minute for the move. How could that be when we received keys on the 1st and the move was set for the 2nd and we reserved in a week in advance??? Then he hung up on us. We tried again and he did the same thing and refused to transfer the call to a manager or supervisor and hung up on us again. This public needs to be warned about Coastal Movers horrible customer service and rude staff. If you need a moving company, I would HIGHLY recommend SF MOVERS. They came through at the last minute and stayed until the very end with a smile and were cheaper. We ended our relationship with pizza and drinks they were so awesome! read more

The guys that actually did my move were great. I am appalled by the way management has reacted to some of the claims other customers have made and had my own experience with them as well but management didn't move my stuff. The movers themselves were fantastic...both times I had them move my stuff. If I could bypass the incredibly disrespectful nature that management has treated other customers I would hire them again in a heartbeat. Remember...you are hiring the guys that are actually doing the labor not the guys that sit in an office. The guys that do the physical labor were GREAT, RESPECTFUL, FRIENDLY, EFFICIENT, KIND AND TRUST-WORTHY. Coastal don't treat your customers so poorly when they seem to have valid concerns. This company was the worst I ever had to deal with. We had used them twice. The first time they did a great job. That was this last January. The workers were curteous and professional. The 2nd time was in March. I have a tempurpedic adjustable bed. It was raining and when they were getting ready to take my bed to the truck there was. No mattress cover. I asked and they said oh, it costs more but we can wrap it in plastic wrap. We are professionals and we know what we are doing. They folded the mattress in half. I never had a moving company do that to a tempurpedic mattress. The older guy was a little too chatty the whole time and the younger one argued with me about everything. When I was concerned about my expensive bed, he said "well my mother has a $10,000 bed. He was a young idiot who did not know how to be professional. I am disabled and my sister helped me with the move and paid for it. When we finally got to my new place, the bed was stained with black streaks and the bed corners were torn on the bed frame. I showed the workers. The younger one said to the older one, you shouldn't have wiped it with that dirty towel. We called Ryan who is the owner or manager and he was extremely rude to my sister and I. Bottom line said his company was not responsible and because we were not downstairs when he came to take a look (we were upstairs and never informed) I could not make a claim. After we showed the guys the damage, they left not even finishing the job. My sister had to finish it. This company is the worst! Do not use them. They have never called me to rectify. I left a message once but honestly after the way I was treated by Ryan, whoever he is, I'd rather go to small claims court. I am not the only one that has had a bad experience. Costal moved me from San Diego to Vallejo in Northern California. I was moving for work so I had to get 3 estimates and they came at a very competitive price and I liked the fact that it was 2 guys, one truck, pick up one day and drop off the next. Brad was terrific setting things up and I had Joe as the team leader. They arrived exactly on time and brought a 3rd person to get the load out. I have a heavily furnished 2 bedroom condo and in 4 hours everything was in the truck. The crew was polite and respectful and efficient. I drove the 8 hour drive and at 8AM the next day on the dot they were at my door to unload. The unload was even faster and all of my furniture was perfect, nothing damaged, scratched or missing. They were very diligent in placing the boxes and the right furniture in the correct rooms, always wiped their feet when coming on to the house and called me Sir through the entire process. I loved them and it was my easiest move I have ever experienced. I have relocated several times for work and used the big companies before - this by far was the best experience. We used this company over Priority Moving because pricing was ridiculously more than double. I want to say I made a Great Decision. Rusty and Anthony called me 15min prior arrival and they arrived at the time slot I was given. I moved from a 3bd with Garage . My washer and dryer I must say were the heaviest and most complicated since they were upstairs. Rusty and Anthony made it happen and they really took care of my furniture. They organized our things in truck and worked together to get things in new place quickly. I was quoted $1380.00 for 8hrs weekend rate from priority moving and Coastal moving did it for $513.50 @ $79.00 hr on a Sunday! took 6 1/2hrs. Coastal Moving Price was affordable. We moved from a 2100+ sq.ft. home FULL of heavy furniture that all had to be carried down a narrow flight of 19 stairs. After calling a few moving companies for quotes, I spoke with Ryan of Coastal Moving, who was very detailed on pricing and services. Of all the companies I spoke with, I liked his attitude - and pricing - the best, so I scheduled Coastal Moving to do the job for us. The morning of our move, we had three men show up, ESTEBAN, BRANDON and JACK, who arrived right on time! These guys had a HUGE job ahead of them, and even with the stairs, they gave no complaints. They disassembled our larger furniture items for us and were very efficient with their time. They took a LOT of care in moving our belongings. Throughout the 7 hour process, they kept up with friendly and professional attitudes, despite the stairs, the heat, and the fact that our driveway was too narrow and curved for their truck to come all the way up (so they have to carry our stuff farther to get it loaded!) When they arrived at our new home, they unloaded and asked precisely where we wanted our items placed, and reassembled our furniture for us. After the hours of very hard work, all three of these men were still friendly, professional and very upbeat! I am SO happy that we used Coastal Moving! Esteban, Brandon and Jack were awesome!!! (Ryan, thank you for sending us over such a great team!!!) My suggestion to anyone who plans to use this - or any - moving company... If you have a large home like we do, you need to anticipate that it IS going to take longer than the 3 hour minimum to move your home. Everything about our move, start to finish, went smoothly.  Here's the breakdown: - Friendly staff all around - from the person I received a quote from on the phone, to the movers themselves, these people were polite and easy to work with. - The price was right! I called around for close to an hour to get the best price for our move and this place had it, hands down! No hidden or extra fees and quality was not exchanged for low rates.  - Super efficient! These guys did an amazing job. We thought we had a few days to plan our move, but it turned out we had to vacate our Tierrasanta 4-bed property that day. These were the only company with availability and we are very glad they were. Our three man crew consisted of John W., Esteban and Daniel. They showed up at 2pm and worked solidly until 11.30 pm (apart from a brief break). They made two trips, filling the van on both occasions. They were polite and very accommodating; nothing was too much trouble. Everything was handled with care, and they took the trouble to avoid the paint work in both places. They took the trouble to re-assemble anything they had to dismantle, like the beds. We are impressed with how hard our crew worked, considering they had already done a move prior to ours that day. read more
