Our family needed a getaway from our home in Seattle, Washington when good friends pointed us to "Holy Mackerel."As someone who is more a mountain person than a beach person, I didn't know what we should expect, but as we arrived, we were instantly excited to spend a few days at the house! The house itself was welcoming and comfortable from the moment we walked in and the view of the water was a constant treat. We didn't understand how much the close proximity to the beach would shape our time at the house. Since it was so easy to get to the beach and into the water, we relaxed in the surf much more than we expected to. The key words there are "relaxed...more than we expected"! Our first night, as we settled in and noticed the unexpected amenities, we remarked to ourselves, "They thought of everything!" Our older daughter- who is an avid reader- loved the little touches like the reading lights connected to the bunk beds. Frankly, we are not used to being so well taken care of! Our family got to create some easy and meaningful memories during our time at the house. From dinner and games around the family-sized table to quiet moments of reading and reflection on the Adirondack-type chairs on the porches, there are many moments that we will look back on as special times in our lives together as a family. In the background of each of those moments was the thoughtfulness of the hosts who put the house together in such a way that we simply just enjoyed ourselves! We would definitely love to stay at Holy Mackerel again and we highly recommend the house for anyone who wants to enjoy simple comforts and drink deeply of the culture of the Gulf coast. read more

These reviews have got to be outdated! The next generation has taken over Coastal Sisters. Houses are well managed. The team is super responsive! Houses are clean. Their individual descriptions and photos seem to match. Nothing edited or fluffed. What you see is what you get. Houses are mix from new to 1960s beach bungalows with lots of character. If there's a problem - unexpectedly the A/C goes out. They are super fast to respond. Hurricane coming in- they will advise you and often work with you. Check out their places. Nice choices. Convenient to Houston and Galveston. Nearby Lake Jackson is brimming with places to shop, eat and street names to amuse you. read more

Coastal Sisters helped us in a pinch, we had some business in surfside and reached out to some friends and they referred us to Coastal Sisters. Upon putting what I thought was a decent review for the stay, since we were unable to stay in the house due to the bed being completely uncomfortable, to the microwave not working, to bugs in the home, as well as cracks in the floor (you could see the ground below the house) at the Lazy Cajun, sand in the couches and bed, as well as TV's not working... I then got rude messages from Coastal Sisters saying they were disappointed in my review - then proceeded to call the people that referred me and had them call and harass me about taking what I thought was a nice review down. Then the friends proceeded to call my mother while she has a heart problem and about to have heart surgery - as well as I just lost my son. I feel that they took this way to far and I told them I would give them a good review and I thought I did for the circumstances (which I never mentioned in the first review) This is very upsetting and very unprofessional - At this point I will NEVER use them again! My family and I rented SANDY FEET RETREAT through the Coastal Sisters. They were accommodating with our change of plans when they did not have to be. We stayed three nights (Friday - Sunday) at this beach front property. My family of four appreciated all of the upgrades and renovations that had been done to the house. We were vacationing in Surfside because we needed some beach time and this house was perfect for our needs. We walked out the door and over the bridge and we were at the water. So close that we could run back for lunch or bathroom breaks with ease. And the little touches like rinse off shower before you get in the house, A/C in all of the rooms, large deck with picnic table and high Adirondack chairs for the best views, all added to our delight. read more

Just got home from our second summer rental from Coastal Sisters. The last two summers Sharon has been very responsive and accomadating leading up to our stay and while we were there. Last year there was an issue with the dishwasher and the maintence guy was there first thing the next morning. This year I had some issues with the neighbor's behind us blaring music until after 2am and Sharon was on it! I always tell her what we're looking for and what we need and she puts me in a great house. Very responsive to texts and voicemails and there has never been an issue with getting our full deposit back in a timely manner. Plenty of homes to choose from with Coastal Sisters, but this review is specifically about Pete's Retreat: a FANTASTIC beachfront house!!! Awaken to the beautiful sunrise, watch the waves from the deck, walk to the beach, swim/boogie board/skim board/surf, build a sand castle, surf fish or go on a fishing charter, have a bonfire & cook S'mores, watch fireworks, chillout in the comfort of this lovely home... We did it all!!! It may not look "fancy" from the outside, but it's the location, amenities, and what's on the inside that made it perfect for our family of 4 (& it can easily house more!). Pete's Retreat is located 4+ miles up Bluewater Hwy from 332 bridge at Public Beach Access Rd #3. This section of the beach is "County Beach," where no beach tags are required to drive on the beach. Concerned about being "on" the access road? No worries & if anything, it provided huge entertainment watching vehicles stuck in the sand being pulled/pushed out of the drifts! No need for a boardwalk/sticker-burred trail: just walk to the beach! Convenient covered parking under the house and hose + shower on the landing to wash off from beach excursions. 1 of my favorite aspects was the locking door at the base of the main steps: kept kids & dog inside, and everything else outside (1 home rental we had didn't have this & though it was a time that we openly invited area kids in, there wasn't any "control" of privacy) - call this door "double security"! The lovely deck isn't fully covered, but the FRONT row view of the Gulf is priceless especially after the sun moves behind the house. Inside: seems bigger than the pictures on the website! Lovely living room (wonderful seating options & huge flat screen TV with Satellite), dining room, & very workable kitchen (washer & dryer in kitchen has extra precious countertop space atop), & WiFi. Funky "wallpaper" bathroom! Master bedroom: the ONLY disappointment of the house with it's double/full bed (hope it's upgraded to a queen/king!). The other bedroom has 2 twin beds & a small TV with video player (DVD? Didn't look). Best part for us: the Loft! 1 queen & 2 twin mattresses provide ample space & fun for our kids! Furnished with board games & books, plenty of drawers/spaces for your belongings, grill on the back porch, & the essentials in the kitchen...it's a home ready for at least a week's stay! 4th of July provides an INSANE BONUS! Fireworks are EVERYWHERE! No need to buy any or endure any crowds: just kick back on the deck for HOURS of free entertainment! Pete's Retreat is absolutely on our list of places to stay again! Coastal Sisters is a fine property management team, and we have no hesitations to rent from them again. They were responsive to our needs & answering questions. Talk about going above and beyond! Last minute I decided to book one of their rentals at Surfside but they ended up being completely booked. The owner, Sharon, went out of her way to try and find me a house. She was able to call a realtor friend who happened to have a house on the beach listed and they took it off the market for the weekend so my boys and I could have some quality time and disconnect from technology. Note: This was July 4th weekend which everyone was sold out. She didn't have to go out of her way to find us a rental but from one mother to another, she knew how bad I needed this getaway! Do not book from Sharon at Coastal Sisters! Read all her google reviews first. She has scammed multiple people out of money. After booking a property a month and a half in advance, she cancels the reservation 1 week before arrival to allow people who will pay a higher premium to take our spot. The owner of the property booked it with us using a different service and she was not happy she wasn't getting a cut and took it away. So now my plan for my 7 year old who missed out on having a bday party during the school year to now miss out on a great beach trip too! read more

While the location was nice and very close to the beach, the house was dirty and in disrepair. Found hair in shower and on the linens. The internet was flaky and hard to use. The Refrigerator door was hard to open as it was too close to the kitchen wall. The house was big it fit all of our guests however it is outdated. The beds make noise, the fans were horrible and loud. The overall cleanliness was not satisfactory. A lot of mold and fungus around the shower door, and there was no bathroom mats. The staff was rude and very slow to respond to requests. Communication was very lacking and we had a problem getting a response. I found a pair of panties in the dryer and when I spoke with Sharon basically she said nothing didn't apologize didn't offer any kind of discount. There were ants all over the inside. The furniture and dining table and chairs were filthy, the couch actually had a white covering on it that could have been taken off to be washed. And it was horribly dirty, we had to cover it with sheets in order to sit on it. If you know there are going to be a certain number of guests sufficient trash bags, toilet paper and paper towels would be great. We had to go to the grocery store to pick up some additional toilet paper. Drive way (parking spots) were horrendous. Mud everywhere, very slippery and unsafe for the whole family especially my three year old. The outside shower was completely unusable full of dirt and weeds!!!! Overall not a family location at all, maybe good enough for a guys fishing trip maybe not. Would not recommend KOKOMO beach house or any houses run by coastal sisters! read more

A SUPER AGENCY. We live in Santa Fe New Mexico, 997 miles away so having the absolute best vaca was important after 20 hours of drive, pee breaks, I'm hungry breaks and petrol stops. Sprint unlimited data kept me sane while it entertained 3 kids with tablets and iphones....... Anyway back to the beach. Coastal Sisters (CS) assured me that the home we wanted, Beach Bum on Murex was really nice and well laid out. The pics did not do it justice. A beautiful home about 7 years old 18 feet up with a crows nest/widows watch up over 30 feet. Great views during the day and a nice romantic private spot at night. 2 blocks off the beach so it was quiet and safe from beach sprays. The rental process went smoothly. Everything in the home worked well and furniture was top notch with good clean sheets/towels and plenty of plates, silverware and cooking gear. First one I ever rented that had a crock pot and smoker grill!! After two weeks we could not think of one negative with the home, rental or beach. About 20 minutes from a Wally World so everything you forgot you can easily get. Try Beach Bum. You will not be disappointed. Oh, they promptly refunded the deposit too which can be a hassle at so many rental agency's. read more

I have used this company twice. First time when we rented Fog's Pad a few years ago. We had a few issues with the house. For vacation 2015 we rented Pete's Retreat. Worst vacation in ten years of renting. This company is too cheap and does upkeep the houses as they should. For starters the AC breaker would trip everyday at the hottest time of day. Temperature in the house would reach 80 F plus. Totally unacceptable. She was aware of the problem prior to us calling. When it happened the second time she mentioned to me "if I send a AC man and he doesn't find anything wrong, I will have to charge you for the service call." She has lost her mind! I'm not responsible for the AC working properly!! Second, on going problem with aunts and roaches. Third, the kitchen was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen, with a poor selection of dishes etc. coffee pot and blender didn't work. Fourth, the water comes from a well. If you run the hot water the smell of rotten eggs will make you vomit before you take a shower. Who wants to shower with cold water! We didn't have a choice. Last, I had a big panel fall down and miss my head by one inch. Sharon' s response," I can assure you it was not intentional " I never thought it was, however it does confirm this company gives very poor maintenance to the houses. Sharon's solution: you should have call me. The houses should be ready for people. Don't wait for me to arrive to see if I'm going to complaint first. $1400.00 plus tax. This house is over priced in its condition. The only thing I liked was the view of the ocean. Two strikes . . . I'm out! Will never rent with them again. My review is long overdue, I rented The Windsong the first weekend of October 2015 for a weekend fishing trip. Place was great since prior to renting this place we would of had to make this a day trip and come all the way back to Houston. Staff was GREAT. Excellent communication. I arrived two hours before check-in and staff was nice enough to let us check in early at no extra cost. I was literally able to walk to and from Surfside Fishing Pier. One thing I'd recommend doing is bringing everything you need, otherwise it is a drive to get just about anything. I will definately be renting a beach house again the next time I plan on being in Surfside Beach. read more

Stayed at ISLAND TIME beach house for four days, 3 nights, this July. Plenty of room for everyone.(Sleeps 16) House was clean and orderly. Sharon and Sean were both very responsive to all questions. We have been coming to Surfside for many many years. This summer was our first time renting with Coastal Sisters. We stayed at Casa de la Costa and it was Amazing!!! The best stocked house we have ever stayed in! Everything you can think of! Just need your clothes and food. I actually overpacked because I am not use to the houses being so stocked! Coastal Sisters is simply the absolute best rental company in Surfside. They go above and beyond to be sure all your needs are met!

This by far was the worst experience we have had with a rental agency. We originally rented a beach house that slept 21. When we called to confirm that they received the deposit. Sharon tried to suggest a couple of different homes to rent. We insisted that we wanted to keep the one we originally rented. Then she finally comes clean and said, that the house we booked had been over-booked. She blamed her accounting department. We settled on another home, that slept only 16 (she did give a ok discount because of her error). When we arrived the house stunk like something died in it, was dirty, and sheets were not laid out like she said would happen. There was broken chairs, burned out lights, kitchen sink was so rusted it wouldn't move, ceiling fan that didn't work correctly and the list goes on.. Every time you plugged something in it sparked back at you, and even shock at times. The smoke detectors were in a drawer in the kitchen. The house was not fit to rent out. Now she did send a repair man, but he came with his daughter to the job and only replaced a couple of lights that were burned but didn't address all that we told him needed to be fixed. When I called her back about it, she proceeded to rudely tell me that she told me to give him a list that needed to be fixed. Um excuse me, Isn't that her job? The beds were extremely uncomfortable and our guests preferred to sleep on the couch. We tried to make the best of it. We even left the home cleaner than it was when we arrived. Now this week we called to check on getting our deposit back. When Sharon goes off saying all of these items that were broken and how she sent a repairman out 2 times to fix things. Now she is blaming us for the broken items when all of it was broken when we arrived. She was rude and said yes ill send your deposit back and hung up on us mid sentence. When we received the deposit check back. There was a rude not that stated we were banned from renting from them again, Because we dared complain at all since we received a HUGE discount. That discount was because THEY screwed up. This company if very unprofessional, they don't take care of there homes and are extremely rude. read more

I've rented many times now with Coastal Sisters and have only had the best experiences. I've also rented Windsong and love that little house! It's kind of like the story of the 3 bears. Some houses are too big, some are too small, but Windsong is juuuust right. Sharon has always been as gracious and helpful as can be each time I've been down (I live in Houston).
