However, something is clearly wrong. Her level of professionalism is about as low as any I can recall. I submitted documentation for the 2023 tax year in February, well before the federal deadline. After a couple of emails about her excessive workload, Ms. Kucera sent an impersonal blast email informing me (and presumably other clients) that extensions had been filed, and she would work through her backlog of returns as soon as possible. As her demeanor seemed completely credible, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and let the delay slide. However, as weeks turned into months, and my phone calls and emails went unanswered, I was forced to conclude she'd simply forgotten I was her client. Maybe she never intended to do my taxes? Who knows? This month - five months after I'd first spoken with Ms. Kucera - I contracted with another accountant who completed several returns in less than a week. Perhaps someday I will find out what went wrong with Ms. Kucera. Maybe she can explain in small claims court when I sue for the $228 I had to pay in late fees due entirely to her negligence. Steer clear folks.
