The walk is just over one half mile and ends, or begins at the public beach. There are many signs warning of poison ivy, so it is best not to touch any of the plants.

One of the things we loved about this place, is the fact there are plaques or narrative cards that show what you are looking at with a little history behind it. There are places for you to sit next to the ranger station. A few hikers were enjoying a snack break while we were there. They were commenting on how dusty and dry it was. (the drought of 2025 - for future readers reference) There's not a lot of shade, so prepare accordingly. There was plenty of parking and plenty of trails and views to enjoy! We loved it!

First of all: use google maps to get to this Forrest. It gets you right to the entrance which is…read moreeasy to find. It's a dirt lot off of Main Street. Be warned that there is a huge drop/bump to get in so you'll want to take it slow as you transition from road to dirt lot which can be tough with the traffic building behind you on Main. Ample parking and a trash can. I went on this walk alone with my two dogs. There are a lot of trail options that go on and on. I don't think I would go here alone without another person or without my dogs just because it gives the feeling of being remote and isolated at times beyond my comfort level alone - certainly not because it is unsafe. I felt safe and my encounters with others was fine. People were responsible with their dogs putting them on leash when we passed. Plenty of clean running water for the dogs to drink throughout the walk I never needed to break out the water dishes. The trails are fairly well marked and I didn't feel lost except for when I was ready to leave and just trying to make my way back to the lot. There were a ton of leaves on the trail which were slippery at times. I did fall once sliding on leaves. Decent amount of incline, decline, boulders, fallen trees, small water views, and just pure quiet. Dogs loved it.
