The water blocked off for swimming is not that deep. I think the deepest is probably 5 feet. They do have lifeguards on duty and a little snack shack. Water is clean for a lake and typically warm. There is a playground and a couple picnic tables. Not much shade. Kids are allowed to wear lifejackets, but that is all I recall seeing for flotation devices. They do have kayaks and I think paddle boots you can rent. Opens at 10 AM.

the beach itself is nice. the water was a very enjoyable temperature and not too crowded. be aware…read moreif you don't live in marlborough it does cost $20 to get in. if id known this ahead of time we might have gone somewhere else but i figured we'd try it out. bathrooms were clean with a shower outside to rinse off with so that was nice. however, when we arrived there were 2 roped off areas. one was crowded and one only had one person swimming in it. we set up stuff near the less crowded one and went in. the lifeguard then yelled at us not to swim in that area even though we are still unsure why. the entire time we were there the lifeguards were insufferable. they yelled about the smallest things like parents carrying their kids on their shoulders. for $20 i expected a bit more so we probably won't be back considering there are just so many other beaches to go to in the area that are free.

In the off season it is quiet, peaceful, and a good spot to get some fresh air. The views along the water are great, and the trails are easy to walk. There are a few issues that stand out. In the off season dogs are allowed, but some owners leave their dog waste behind which creates a mess and takes away from the park. This is one of the reasons why dogs are no longer allowed year round. You also see a lot of dogs off leash, and not every owner keeps their dog close or under control which can be frustrating for people who use the park responsibly. Parking has also changed. The lot across the street used to be available for park visitors, but it is now restricted to town residents. Most residents do not even use the park, so limiting parking like that makes it harder for the people who actually come here. Even with those drawbacks, Kingston State Park is still a nice place for a walk, especially in the off season. The scenery makes it worth visiting and it remains one of the quieter places to get outside for a bit.

One time I went to the bathrooms and when I was coming out some thug woman- like someone who definitely has been or will be in jail threw her hands up like she wanted to fight me because I opened the door as she was going to open it too. Wth!! Lastly there was a very very large woman and a very very little man. The woman was wearing a bikini that barely covered her nipples and the man was rubbing sunscreen all over her body and humping her leg. This was her stomach too- he was kneading her skin. So unacceptable in public and shocking. Oh and don't forget the dirty diapers in the water! So in short- nice place when there's no people.

Cons are that, no floaties are allowed, only coast guard approved PFDs are allowed, no skipping stones, no horseplay, etc. there also porta-potties in season. Did I say picture perfect? Idyllic. This is the best New England has to offer. Yes it is residents only but you can bring guests.

The trails passed by marshes, over creeks &, at times, we had to navigate through areas that had some minimal flooding. Signage is practically non-existent, with arrows primarily @ intersections & also kind of confusing where the parking lots are for the trailheads. There is very little blazing on the trees but again, the trail directions are obvious. Not too much indication of wildlife, although, of course, we were in the thick of the trees. The folks at the Visitor Center are super friendly, knowledgeable & helpful.

There was a walk path which had scenery all around. The primary aspect of this park which I really loved was that the benches, playgrounds, trash disposals, etc despite being present, were placed in a strategic way so the ambience and "feel" of the nature within the park wasn't really altered with. It allows visitors to experience the peace and quiet while enjoying meals, swing sets, etc. Everything was tidy and truly looked well maintained.
