Beautiful trail to keep you busy for a few hours. The foliage is stunning here in the fall.

Feels like your at Sabbaday Falls. Beautifully tucked away where you would least expect it to be.

Rock Rimmon - The view from atop

Rock Rimmon is a local Manchester favorite. The park itself rates approximately four stars…read more However, if you take a short walk to the top. You will have an amazing view of the entire city! Because of the view on top of the mountain I'm giving Rock Rimmon a solid five stars! I highly recommend checking out this amazing view if you're ever in the area! It's breathtaking!

If you're not familiar with the area, finding where you actually need to park might be frustrating…read more The directions I got from Google (along with a couple of street signs) pointed us to the Rock Rimmon soccer field, which is not accessible (there's an actual gate that's closed), leaving you wondering how you actually get to the park. We went back East on Bremer streets for 6 blocks and found park access on the left. If you're GPSing or getting directions online, I would look up "Dupont Pool" instead of Rock Rimmon Park. Anyway, once my girlfriend and I got there, we found a large pool, a tennis court, a basketball court, and a playground. No picnic tables though, which was kind of a bummer, since we brought food. But we just plopped down in the grass and ate. After we ate, we went through the trail. At first, it looked like it was going to be somewhat of a climb, but once we started, it really wasn't bad. You definitely notice a lot of litter, including broken glass, and vandalism; mostly from chalk. Most of the chalk writing is fine but there is some stereotypical, childish, vandalism there too. However, the view from atop of the rock is very pretty. We got lots of great pictures, and enjoyed just sitting with our feet dangling off the edge. The temperature was great out, so it was really relaxing. It was a good experience, but it strikes me as a place that I might only visit once again.

But something MAGICAL happens when you see sculptures displayed in the woods. You'll see these sculptures with a whole new appreciation. There's art here from sculptors from all over the world. And there's a nice variety as well. A nice map is available in the parking area to help you navigate. There's signage for each piece and some have explanations as well to enrich your understanding. Some of the trail signage is less than clear but you're always close to a numbered sculpture so you can find exactly where you are on your map. A few tips: - Wear sneakers or hiking shoes as some of the trails are a bit rough. - Be prepared to walk and climb. There are 140 acres, multiple trails and much of it involves climbing up (or down) - Bring the kids! Most kids will love the walk through the woods and will enjoy discovering each new sculpture. - Maps are available in the parking area, but print your own (in color) ahead of time if possible. - Most of the sculptures are up from the parking area. I recommend walking up the paved Parking Trail to get started. Yes it's a bit longer but easier and there's some great sculptures on it. When you get to #26- Community and Diversity, you are at a junction and you can pick up trails through the woods for most of the place. - Allow at least 2-3 hours or you will feel like you missed out. By the way the variety of mushrooms was fantastic in August. Just another treat in a wonderful place. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Apparently it's legal to smoke in the open here. The beach is kind of a mixture of dirt and sand, more dirt than sand. The shallower parts were clear enough but wade out a little deeper and it's murky. Older reviews talk about the smell there. Well, to be fair it smells marine. Look across the water and you see cattails, so it's a little marshy. So, it has subtle sulfur odor. Went during the week so parking not an issue. Maybe 60 people there total?
