Huh, I just read the other review by Jingfei H after coming here to post my own bad experience and…read morenow it makes so much sense. I signed up for a class here on ClassPass and was also treated rudely for no reason, I guess now I realize it's because I am a woman? This instructor here is a clown and so up his own ass he should teach contortionist lessons. He wouldn't teach me at all and was totally dismissive, he literally told me to go find someone else in class so he could sit off into space on the side in silence. Last time I checked my money was the same as anyone else, if your studio only wants to accept men/professionals, etc then make that clear on the website or class description instead of wasting everyone's time. The tagline on google says "Saekson Janjira Muay Thai is located in the heart of North Dallas, bringing the most authentic Muay Thai to Texas. Classes for kids, adults and fighters." maybe put an asterisk there and say "no women or beginners" mmkay?

I was trash talked by the coach leading the sessions and hit hard several times after I already said "I am no longer interested in sparring with you" At no time did I physically exert myself beyond a point of control during my time here yet the coach leading the class decides to call me out before I even warmed up, (told him I was warming up because I came to my FIRST session about 30 mins late.). As you can see I barely set foot into the gym floor before he approached me. I told him I was there to spar a friend and he got very offended, called me out to spar before I even had a chance to get my helmet on. After I hit him with some quick light jabs after which he lost all control. Mind you this man is approximately 40 lbs larger than me. Below are public links displaying his behavior. Please stay away from this gym and this coach, he has no control over himself. The part I feel the worst about is invited my friend and his 5 year old son to the gym. I feel bad they had to see that their first time at a gym together. https://photos.app.goo.gl/DgagCCjH79gaHBqy5

But if you are looking for a place to sharpen your character while you sharpen your skills, Sharpen Iron Academy (SIA) in Plano is in a league of its own. At SIA, you aren't just a number; the professors know you by name and are genuinely vested in your success both on and off the mat. This is a culture of discipline, accountability, and mentorship where the "iron sharpens iron" philosophy is lived daily. Whether it's the kids' classes, the youth program, or the specialized women-only classes, there is a deep level of trust and a guaranteed safe space for every student. It is more than a gym--it is a community and a family where you are pushed to grow in a supportive, high-level environment.

Their Godfather helped me research studios and after reading the CV for their head instructor Professor Henrique it was time to give it a shot. They had a lot of fun during the trial class, but they were nervous to start, not wanting to be away from Mom even though I was only three feet off the mat. Thankfully SIA instructors are not only skilled at keeping students engaged during training, but are very family centered, patient and caring. They were able to connect with each one of my kiddos so that they felt comfortable training as I looked on. By parent teacher conferences in February their preschool teacher let me know that both had grown so much in maturity and confidence and was curious to know what I was doing differently. Almost two years later the twins are well adjusted, focused and always happy when they step off the mat after an hour training session. Professor Henrique, Professor Lucas, Professor Matheus, Coach Queila, Coach Enrique, Coach Ian, Coach Ella, and Coach Anthony have become family and there is no other place I would have my children be twice a week. They offer adult classes in the morning and evening and several of the parents after seeing the transformation in their own children have started to earn their stripes as well.

I was never sure about what martial art i wanted to go for, but somehow Muay Thai came around & I fell in love with the art right away. Aiki Muay Thai was one of the closest so I decided to take the trial class. On arriving at the gym for my trial class, I noticed they kept the place clean. They had the usual gear available, Thai pads, body shields, spare gloves, clean wraps etc. They also had heavy bags, a speed bag and a boxing ring. There was a mix of people who were welcoming and willing to help out if I had any issues or questions. The Khru had a wealth of information to share and a keen sense of awareness of what was going on in his class. I trained at the gym for the next year before I had to relocate to another state. The classes were usually run by Khru John who brings an extensive experience in the martial arts that he shares with the class. The classes were well structured from warmups to working on techniques which he eventually tied together with combination strikes and defense. What I especially liked was that Khru John instills a respect for Muay Thai in all his students. Young and old, we all walk away with more respect and discipline. Khru John is a true martial artist who treats his members like family and gives us the tools to grow regardless of your experience level. All together I have trained at 6 different gyms under 8 different Khrus. Hands down Aiki Muay Thai gave me the best learning experience, workout and comradely. I would highly recommend Aiki Muay Thai.

Everyone at every age is welcome and the staff goes out of their way to help. All the instructors have their own style. These instructors are very down to earth and approachable for help. My kids are all grown, but I have been there when the kids classes are going on. I would definitely recommend this crew for kids.
