If you are looking for a family atmosphere ? This is your place. I have trained at several places over the years, but Erik and his instructors are absolutely the best at making every student feel like family. This is not a "clickish" atmosphere. Everyone at every age is welcome and the staff goes out of their way to help. All the instructors have their own style. I enjoy taking some classes from Erik, then Becky, then Johnny, etc. They are all great. You can rotate like I do, or just find the one you connect with best. These instructors are very down to earth and approachable for help. My kids are all grown, but I have been there when the kids classes are going on. DESTINATION BOOT CAMP REVIEW I purchased a Groupon for the Destination Hard Body Boot Camp hosted here in February of 2012 and it is amazing! So much so, I have been going each month and have seriously watched the hard work pay off. This space is open an ready for a butt kicking. This location features one large room with a variety of handheld weights, pull up rings, and a soft padded room for harder workouts. Excellent location on the corner of Parker and Independence. I initially was drawn to Krav Maga during a women's 6-week challenge that incorporated Krav principles with fitness. I've since transitioned to their KravFit and KravYoga classes, as well as attending a handful of adult beginner classes. The instructors in KravFit and adult classes are fantastic -- they really pay attention to making sure the principles of Krav are followed and are very hands-on at correcting form when needed. I love that the basics are hammer(fist)ed into us to make sure we get enough experience feeling comfortable throwing an elbow, knee, palmheel, or kick. I have gained more confidence in myself and a better understanding of my own capabilities. Whether my class is instructed by Erik, Katherine, Dana, Carl, or Becky, the instruction is expertly provided and their form is so crisp and sharp that it is easier for me to translate to my own body as I try to mimic the moves. As for KravYoga, that class is outstanding as well -- the instructor has taken Krav herself so Cara really knows how to target specific yoga flows that will benefit our shoulders and legs that take the most beating during adult and fitness classes! Finally, the management and support staff of KMP/KMD is exceptional -- Erik knows everyone who walks through the door and greets everyone with a tough (but warm) welcome. He's inspiring to watch with the younger classes as well, and gets awesome help from Elizabeth. Since Katherine has become GM, she has taken KMP/KMD to another level and really amped up their game! I love all the seminars and activities that she has helped organize -- but most of all, she's inspiring to watch when she's teaching classes. She's such a champion of her students that you can see how she pushes them to succeed, with great results! read more

I took my child here for Kids Krav. I would drive my kids to JAPAN before I take them to this place again. I'll not go into the details except to say that my children were not comfortable at this studio. We will happily go elsewhere for Krav. read more

Bought a Groupon for classes with a friend of mine. We've gone to 3 classes so far and they've all been great. We learned fighting stances, the correct way to throw a punch and various kicks, elbowing, pushing an assailant and techniques for how to attached based on the opponents size and distance from you. Very useful information. We really enjoy it. I highly recommend going with someone you know as there is a lot of pairing up, however if you go alone, don't fret- lots of people are looking for partners. The trainers are all very knowledgeable. Both men and women run the class so you get extra tips depending on your gender and size. It's also really great exercise- we both definitely break a sweat by the end of it. Totally recommend and may extend my membership passed the Groupon so I can take the intermediate & advanced courses (they go into 2 against 1, 3 x1, 4+ x 1, how to attack someone with a gun or to attack from the floor, etc). read more

I have been training at Krav Maga Plano for the last 4 months. what sticks out to me is the atmosphere within the club, it is clear that all the staff have a passion for Krav Maga and all the instructors genuinely take pride in what they are doing and want everyone to succeed. The instructors are experienced, approachable and knowledgeable, the classes vary and move at a good pace, they are fun and definitely a solid workout (when I first started, I woke up sore and realized I had muscles I didn't know I had :) Each week is different which I like as there are a number of techniques to cover in the first level classes. It also follows a belt system so that you can measure progress and take part in reviews and very challenging belt tests to move on to the next belt curriculum. I would guess that attendance in class is about 50/50 male/female and with people at varying levels of fitness. They also offer occasional seminars, I cannot comment on those as I have not yet attended any. I highly recommend Krav Maga Plano if you are interested in getting fit, boosting your self confidence, learning something new and absolutely valuable, making new friends or looking for a personal challenge. I started going here as I had several friends that were experienced in Krav Maga who recommended it. The instructors were very clear and have anyone who needed help extra attention. The classes are very intense and in a short amount of time i was able to learn very effective self defense that i now feel confident i could execute on the street if i needed to. they are careful to assess the level of skill of the student and adapt intensity and or training for the student. I have seen many students come from other competitive krav schools to this one to get training because of the level of professionalism and attention to detail they get. My fiancé and I had been looking for a place to learn Krav Maga, and we are so glad that we found this place. We started in March '19, and have since passed our yellow belt test. We thoroughly enjoy the work outs, and the peace of mind that we leave with after learning new self defenses. This location has the best instructors that are dedicated to ensuring your ability progresses. Each one of them is a bad ass in their own right. I have been attending classes here for about 2 1/2 months now. Started out with a groupon to check it out. I am newly sober and this has been the perfect outlet for me to help stay fit, reduce anxiety and get out in general to meet new awesome people in a positive environment. The staff are far more than accommodating, super sweet and helpful. They go out of their way to introduce themselves and get to know you and answer any questions you might have. Just like everyone else, I bought the Groupon to train here. 10 classes for $20. They neglect to tell you in fine print that you only have 30 days to use these classes. I went up there and signed the waiver on Feruary 4, 2015 but I did not train. They signed me up anyways but told me that I could not take a class until the 24th. So basically, I got to train for one week instead of 4 weeks and since I didn't sign a long term contract with them, they didn't really care to listen to my explantion as to why they were not honoring their deal. It didn't help that when I walked in, the owner was complaining about how many people were training there on a Groupon and not signing up. My best advice would be to A.) don't waste your money and time on a martial arts studio that needs to use Groupon to get people in and get's mad when people don't commit to be billed for the next 2 or 3 years. B.) go to a place that is more committed to actually teaching martial arts rather than cycling as many people in and out as they can and hoping to land a small percentage of them as customers. I've trained Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu through some great trainers, I've seen the difference between a real martial arts gym that is dedicated to their craft and a place like this that cycles people in and out, shows them a couple of basic techniques and then talks down about them when they don't commit to a long term deal. The way Krav Maga teaches people to throw punches is stupid anyways, a decent Muay Thai fighter would destroy someone that practicions this martial art. read more

Watch out before you sign the contract, notice all the loopholes. Me and my Boyfriend had to move after I got sick. The owner was said out contract was worth $1500 and we had only been going for 3 months. When they only offer two classes a week for us and we now lived 40 minutes out it seemed reasonable to let us go. Nope. Not a chance. He wanted all his money no exceptions. So even after the move and medical bills we had to pay $500.00 for ending a contract after only three months. Of course they would make anyone hurt and angry , and the instructors are kind but it is just a money hungry struggling small business who will take anything from you. read more

While I really enjoyed my time at this place, it's just too far in bitter traffic for me to continuing going. I bought the Groupon and attended classes with friends. They called and arranged the first class by calling them for more info. Upon arrival, I was confused because the entrance is actually in the back, the store front door is often used as ventilation during class. I showed up super early but they opened up a little late due to the weather. I'll admit I was pretty annoyed that they were late but in the end it didn't matter to me because the instructors were so nice. We learned stances, footwork, punches & kicks from the intro class and stuck around for the basic class. If I lived closer, I probably would have paid to keep coming for a year or two but the 45 min drive kills my spirit. Not to mention that one time I spent 30 mins on PGBT only to make it one exit instead of driving to class (spirit instantly crushed). Anyways, to those that haven't gotten through, check their schedule and call around those times, this place is definitely worth the follow up, take initiative to get in contact. The classes are actually fun and they can be high intensity sometimes, push yourself and you'll have fun and learn a lot. read more

I took the Groupon self defense class for women. The class had maybe 30 women varied in age. We were taught some very good techniques and I feel more confident and so did they by the time class was over. Theresa and Chad, the owners, made the class fun but also covered all our questions and gave us some helpful tips to get ourselves out of certain situations and how to handle ourselves if we are attacked. I think everyone should take this class and I have already signed up for the next level class. read more
