Oyster Pond Beach is conveniently located near Chatham's Main Street…read more When I'm in Chatham I don't come here a whole lot, but I did kayak here a few times years back. I'd highly recommend coming here for that activity. This is also probably a good spot to take young kids since the water here is fairly mellow. This spot has real bathrooms which is a major plus, so many of the town's beaches have port-a-potties. Signs posted advise no dogs allowed on beach from 5/1-9/15, be careful with that, the town has some tyrants on duty that you may encounter if you break that rule. Just be careful on the beaches here with dogs in general, the town doesn't enforce laws the same way the National Seashore does on other parts of the Cape. A family member was hassled on another beach about her small pet. I also noticed that all watercraft on the beach must have a permit from the town's park department. If you stand on the beach and look to your right you will see a big house on the hill. It's rumored that it belongs to a former American Idol judge.

It's very beautiful and offers great views of the atlantic and the inlets. We spent a lot of time on the beach. It's at the end of the road and again, backs up to a neighborhood. Super accessible. This is such a great little pond!…read more Unfortunately, it's only available to residents of Chatham who have beach stickers from 6/20 to Labor Day from 9-6 each day. However, you could still enjoy this place after hours or in the off season. The parking lot is on the small side, so I recommend getting here early in the day during July and August when the Cape is packed with people. Dogs aren't allowed on the beach or in the pond from 5/1 to 9/15 at all. They do have a lifeguard station. This pond would be a good place to take kids that are learning to swim since the waters are very gentle. I've enjoyed kayaking here over the years since the water is calm. I would highly recommend this spot to a novice kayaker.
