There's a white chocolate or dark chocolate dip, I assume the ground almonds are optional. The dark chocolate and almond dip went perfectly with the pistachio ice cream. Brett's Ice Cream is a little ice cream shop in Kanata. It's been around since 2013 but I only…read morelearned of it recently. It's a little shop with basically just a window where you order. It's a strip mall with an auto body shop. Not the most picturesque or romantic place, but the ice cream is good. You pretty much need to eat it in the parking lot (there are a few benches) or in your car. My husband and I went during the Phase 2 re-opening amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic, but I don't think they had to change their practices much because they were always takeout only with no place to sit and eat. There was absolutely no line up when we went on a Sunday afternoon in June. My husband is a traditionalist so he got a medium chocolate vanilla swirl in a waffle cone. It was $3.25 for a medium and an additional $0.75 for the waffle cone. I wanted to try their flavour burst which is flavour swirled into the ice cream in unique way (see photos). I got a small vanilla cone with cherry flavour burst. It was $2.25 for the small cone plus an additional $1 for the flavour burst. I enjoyed my cone. The ice cream was creamy and the flavour burst added a nice black cherry flavour to the cone. It wasn't too overwhelmingly sweet which was nice. I really want to try the Pina Colada flavour burst next time. Note that they only have soft serve ice cream. No hard/scoop ice cream. They do have milkshakes, slushies, slushie floats, sundaes, and Razzles, which are like Dairy Queen Blizzards or Mc Donald's McFlurries. Service was quick and courteous. I'm a huge fan. It's a bit of a trek to get to Kanata for me, but I would come back if I was in the area or planning to so other things in the area. Free parking in the parking lot that is shared with the auto shop.

The Long Version: My mom and I took my little nieces on an outing to Bayshore Shopping Centre. I like to treat my nieces to new adventures, including new (to them) foods. I thought they might like to try Turkish Delight, so I brought them to Kalamata, which is a kiosk on the second floor by the Winners, Famous Footwear and Les Moulins La Fayette. My nieces wanted the orange flavoured Turkish Delight, so I got them each a piece. The apple flavour and cherry coconut flavour looked interesting to me, so I got a piece of each of those flavours too. The price is by weight, $32.40/lb which is super expensive IMO, lol. The 4 cubes which were smaller than a standard household ice cube came out to $9.07. My nieces enjoyed their treat, but weren't wowed by it. They weren't interested in trying the other flavours I bought, so I shared them with my mom and we felt the same way. They were good, but not great, in our opinions. They weren't as soft as I like and tasted a bit dried out. After I made my purchase my mom decided to go back and get some baklava. It was Friday and on Fridays their baklava are 15% off. My mom got 2 pieces. One was a square of almond cake (did not have phyllo pastry) and the other was a phyllo roll with I think pistachios inside. The baklava is also sold by the weight and I think she paid about $12 for the 2 pieces, after the discount. We felt the same way about the baklava: they were good but nothing wow for us. Considering the prices of their items, I expected more wow. They also sell nougat slices, dried fruits and nuts, and of course the product of their namesake: olives. Their products are aesthetically pleasing, and staff were very friendly, but I personally did not feel I got adequate bang for my buck. I'm glad to have tried it and to have introduced my nieces to Turkish Delight, but I will likely not be a repeat customer. Lots of free parking in the mall parking lot. Review #110 (2026)
