It all adds up to a depressing, irritating experience that takes way too long. The staff was unfriendly and unhelpful, making me stand and wait while they filed paperwork without saying a word to me. The amount of paperwork I had to fill out was onerous, tedious and repetitive. They also don't offer payment by check, which they failed to mention when they handed me that form. Not the sort of place to which you want to find yourself having to resort.

Michael was rude, talked over me and doesn't have the customer service skills that are basic for one selling a product, which in this case is labor. Needless to say, I will not use this company and I will contact the president of the company and also inform everyone I know of the substandard treatment I received. My advise is to steer clear of this place as there are many professional businesses in the area that appreciate customers. I would have given them a zero rating had that been available. I will be posting a sign in my front yard for all to see that Labor Ready in my opinion is a thumbs down and buyers beware.

Vanderhouwen Does Not Understand Cybersecurity - Overlooked by VanderHouwen Despite Clear…read moreQualifications I applied for a Cybersecurity Program Manager role in Portland through VanderHouwen and was told by recruiter T. B. that I was "not a great fit." There was no interview, no technical discussion--just a surface-level rejection. Here are the verifiable facts. I hold the CISSP (Associate of ISC²), CEH, Security+, eJPT, Google Cybersecurity, Google Cybersecurity Cloud, and CAPM certifications. I have 3+ years of project management experience leading a 20-person team at Apollo 11 and more than eight years total in cybersecurity, IT operations, and governance. I've implemented NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, and PCI-DSS frameworks, authored insider-threat assessments, and managed full-scale modernization programs across multiple organizations. Being dismissed without acknowledgment of these credentials or achievements shows a failure to evaluate based on objective capability. Any organization that truly understands cybersecurity program management would recognize this alignment instantly. I challenge anyone to ask any AI if I'm qualified with 3+ years of project management experience, CISSP (Associate of ISC²), CEH, eJPT, Google Cybersecurity, Google Cybersecurity Cloud, and CAPM.

They work hard for you and find the positions that best match your qualifications and get you in the door. This agency got me my first contract job and then a great full time position and I am so pleased with the level of service. The Portland job market is easily the most brutal I have been to yet, but VanderHouwen made navigating it much simpler than if I had done it on my own. Kristin Hunt was the agent I worked with, so be sure you ask for her. Kristin gave me a realistic outlook on job expectations and helped me avoid postings that were a waste of time. She also told me when I should apply for a position directly myself when the company was not one VanderHouwen worked with. Halfway through my contract job, Kristin immediately began helping me look for full-time roles to transition to while other recruiters in the market told me it was too early and to come back within 4-6 weeks of my contract's end date. Furthermore, she always gave me up to date information on the status of each job I applied to. I was never in the dark. She cares a lot about her customers and it shows through her actions. I wouldn't take the negative reviews here seriously. Work with VanderHouwen if you go and don't get impatient. Portland is tough and you are going to get many no's before you get a yes. You need connections to have a chance at getting anywhere in the process and that is where VanderHouwen comes in.
