Right now, they do a lot to rescue animals and educate individuals on "fixing" their pets. They also do a lot in giving a voice to animals when it comes to legislation about animal cruelty. Once they get the proper funding to setup their adoption center/ sanctuary, they will be able to grow further as an organization meaning they can rescue more animals- parter with Animal Rescue Corps and the Humane Society of the United States with hoarding or puppy mills cases and do even more with other things like maybe having a spay/neuter clinic. Big things are on the horizon for this nonprofit! I haven't done much with animal rescue through them, but I've helped with fundraising in the hope that they can set up their sanctuary soon! I was given all the information I needed to comply with their very efficient process. It was my first visit to this facility. I have know it for years but was under a certain idea that it was just for low income individuals or feral animals. I had an opportunity to see my sweet friend and the director of the facility and she informed me that that is a common misconception. She said they take all folks and most animals. There are a few dog type they don't spay or neuter. They did an exceptionally wonderful job with my asshole cat. She would not wear the cone or a sleeve over the surgery. So, I just had to watch her and she did great. The wound healed great. She is still an asshole but a smidge calmer. I actually was not charged anything due to the fact that I am on Medicare, so it was a great value to me. My plan is to donate to them through their wish list/amazon. They scheduled a surgery for our foster dog within the month, and gave us detailed instructions on how to take care of him post operation. The organization is guided by animal behaviorists who offer numerous Zoom session classes on how to train dogs of any age. To get dogs adopted, Agape takes great care making sure dogs are matched across several categories to adoring homes. Everything this organization does is thorough and thoughtful, ensuring dogs are properly cared for. This organization is pretty big and they have need for volunteers, fosters, interns (can do for college credit), employees, adopters, and donations. This month, they helped Animal Rescue Corps with Operation unbridled Spirit and saved a bunch of puppy mills dogs! Help them out! They make fostering really a great experience and are looking for year-round fosters, temporary/ short term fosters (for long term fosters who go on vacation, etc), and emergency fosters for cases of hoarding or puppy mill closures. I've never been a pet person but after a big breakup in which I had to let go of a dog I fell in love with, I realized I was a dog person and knew I wanted a special dog in my life. About a year ago, Owney and I stopped in at the Pet Placement Center to say hi. They recognized him and were so happy to see him happy and loved. They even took a picture of him. I can't say enough great things about the Pet Placement Center. They truly care about animals and want them to have their furever homes.

The Volunteer Coordinator Fran was friendly and thorough when speaking with me about the history of the shelter, volunteer options, and during the shelter tour. Each staff member said hello and introduced him or herself. Although a small shelter, everything looked clean and organized. This shelter is also a nonprofit and exists to help both the county and city shelters, Humane Society and McKamey, with overcrowding challenges. Can't wait to help walk dogs, etc!
