The staff at this practice are very rude and don't care about the patient experience. I would not recommend them to anyone. I also question the quality of their care as I realized I was misdiagnosed by one of their NPs once I switched to another primary care provider. read more

My second appointment ever with this office was scheduled incorrectly by the office. Originally when I scheduled it was for 10:15. I had made lunch plans with my sick grandparents that I don't see often after my appointment. The night before my appointment I get a text confirmation for a 12:15 appointment. I called the morning of to notify the woman that the appointment was not scheduled correctly and she happily rescheduled and apologized for the confusion without notifying me that I was going to be charged for THEIR MISTAKE. Now, I am currently disputing a late fee and looking for a new practitioner for my husband and I. If they are pulling this with a patient who isn't fully established, what else are they pulling? EDIT: I would have been more than happy to edit this review in a positive manner if their mistake was rectified in a professional way. As someone who works in a customer facing position, customer service and satisfaction should always be the HIGHEST priority. The behavior displayed after the office saw my review on Google, Facebook & Yelp was dare I say it...Harassment. I received a total of 3 phone calls back to back by what I am guessing was the office supervisor (I spoke to her originally about my dispute this morning around 8:30). During the first phone call, I was greeted by the woman screaming at me, refusing to let me speak, repeatedly telling me "this must be very important to you", aggressively asking where they can send my records to and compulsively repeating how they are "good hard working people and who do I think I am?". Once I had stated that I would not be spoken to in that manner she continued, so I hung up. Seconds later, I received a second phone call in which the woman continued to scream and berate me. When I continued to ask for her name in a polite disposition, she refused to provide it and continued to refuse to let me speak. Since I was not being treated with respect, I hung up the call again. Once again....seconds later, I received another phone call in which I declined. The fact that I received this type of treatment as a new patient of this office is completely unacceptable and not professional. A primary care doctor is supposed to provide a safe space for its patients and this office has lacked in doing so. Attached are pictures of their response scolding me for voicing my concerns and telling people what happened through their practice. Shortly after my response, they blocked me on Facebook. I have learned a very valuable lesson throughout this process.....trust the other negative reviews that are posted about a practice before placing your health in their hands, they might end up raising your stress levels more than necessary. read more

It is such a shame that this practice is so behind the times because Dr. Golden is excellent. I have been a patient for over 20 years here. I have been shunned away for a serious ailment which was misdiagnosed as a panic attack which resulted in a massive blood clot. The nurses are some of the rudest I have ever been in contact with. I understand each job isn't a bed of roses each day and people are entitled bad days, however time and time again its the same story with this team. I should have paid attention to the other reviews. This is a terrible healthcare facility. The practicioners did not listen to me - did testing on me and made choices for me that I did not authorize. The staff is also terribly uninformed about basic medical information. I have been once and once was one time too many. Unfortunately this is what I've come to expect of the south shore. If I could give a big ZERO I would! New patient here, I made a first time appointment and when I went to call to confirm ( most practices will call and confirm the day prior) they told me I missed my appointment. They had it scheduled for a week prior which I would have never made because I was out of town. I told them I would look at my schedule and call back, no big deal it was not for anything urgent! Fast forward a few weeks later I received a 30 dollar missed appointment charge. Fast forward multiple voice messages later ( every time I call the practice manager is not available or out of the office) I am finally told it is my responsibility to pay the charge. This is completely unethical as it was a pure error. A client after calling to confirm an appointment, not being aware or told there was a charge the first call and clearly the lack of management and here we are in weeks of no resolution! A missed appointment I get the fee but an error on the staffs behalf should not result in a client/patient paying the fee, bottom line! It's turned into a frustrating snowball effect showing that this practice is in need of new support staff and management. read more

I have been on hold for 20 minutes at a time and then and have been disconnected and tried to call back and they put me again on hold. Or I've called to get a referral for another place and they wanted me to do it online and told me it was easier for them if I did online even though I had no access to computer completely un helpful.(never got my referral) read more

I never write reviews but this doctor's office is worth warning people against. The doctors are fine, but the customer care is horrendous. The receptionists are always rude and have an attitude. Their phone system is out of date. Example: I scheduled a travel consult a week in advance, then got a call from them 2 days before the appointment. When I picked up, no one was there. I knew from previous experience that I should call back because their phone system is wonky. I tried when I had time around 1:30 the next day, as well as the day of my appointment. Both times the phones were "off" and I got the "call back during normal business hours" message. Nowhere on the website does it say they are on lunch until 1:30! So I finally got a receptionist at 2:30 and I said I would like to confirm my appointment, and she said yes, you have a travel consult today at 4:30. Then I asked her why I got a call. She put me on hold, then came back and told me my appointment is cancelled because they no longer do travel consults. So, she didn't even know my appointment was cancelled until I ASKED, and it's the DAY OF my appointment! I said to her, "so if I didn't call or ask about this, I would have been turned away when I arrived in 2 hours?" and she said "sorry" in a very "sorry-not-sorry" way. I understand if they are changing their appointment policies, but better customer care would be to do it gradually, not cancel appointments the week of the policy change, and then fail to successfully get in touch with patients to let them know! That is bad enough, but to then be faced with rude receptionists who do nothing to try to work with you to resolve the problem leaves me wanting to find a different practice. read more

I have never written a review on anything before but I have had such bad experiences over and over again, I just had to vent. I actually really like the doctors and nurses at this practice. I find them very friendly, competent, thorough, etc. My problem with this practice is one or two secretaries who are very rude and curt in person and over the phone. I really wish management would replace them so the patients can feel comfortable calling and/or visiting the practice. I have a few friends who go to this practice and they all agree...the front desk needs some new friendly faces!!! read more

My prescriptions are always late or sent to the wrong pharmacy. I can never make an appointment within a reasonable window so with dates being so far out I often need to reschedule and they give me a hard time. call to say you'll be 10 mins late and you can't see the doctor. I have driven in storms there to be told my doctor didn't come in and I got no call. My doctor often rushes through appointments as if I'm inconvenient. Not pleasant and do not accommodate to patients needs. I never post on Yelp but I can see others venting about this place so I can see I'm or alone. I bring my 4 month old here and it is a wonderful practice. Whenever she needs to be seen they accommodate us in a timely fashion. Dr Golden takes his time and goes over everything with us. We have been going to this practice for 22 Years. We have always found the doctors to be excellent as well as the NP. The nurses at times are not very friendly and as well as the receptionists. The receptionists tend to be abrupt and not very friendly. Since they are the first person a patient has contact with this does not make a patient feel good about the start of their visit. We originally started with this practice when they were in Cohasset Village. They were a much smaller practice then and made you feel very welcome. As the years have gone by and they are a much larger practice and there isn't that welcoming feeling that a patient should receive from the moment they call for an appointment or be received when they are checking in for their appointment. read more

I have never had to write a yelp review before. My family has put up with Cohasset Family Practice for years and felt they were finally improving their service lately. The doctors are fine, when you get to see one. But we have finally reached the last straw. My daughter saw them for back pain and has been going to physical therapy for months. Her pain level reached unbearable and couldn't see her spine specialist for 10 days. We called CFP for a 10-day supply of pain meds to give her some relief in the meantime. They told us they "weren't comfortable prescribing anything." When pressed, since this is my daughter's PRIMARY CARE physician, we were told to go to the emergency room! Four hours and $150 later, she had her medication. Unbelievable! We don't need a traffic cop directing us elsewhere all the time. read more

This is a review as well as a response to some fellow yelpers in regards to Cohasset Family Practice. I have gone there for close to 20 YEARS (give or take some) and the service is great. And they always find a way to squeeze me in for an appointment, even when they are crazy booked. They all work hard at what they do from top to bottom. The doctors rock and the nurses rock. And the Management obviously is doing the job well to keep these people happy and working there! I will continue to go there for as long as I can. NOW to respond to my fellow yelpers with FALSE complaints.... If you show up to an appointment 10-15 minutes late that is YOUR problem, not the offices. Get there on time, they can't wait for you and they move on to others who need to be seen. Also if you owe money and don't pay it I would drop you too! Don't act like other companies wouldn't do the same. ITS CALLED A DEBT! you owe it and you don't get served until its paid! DUH! This place is great and always has been. if your reading this go there for your health needs and stray away from reviews from people who have Skewed sense of what is common and what is not. Although I have been a patient there for over twenty years I have been wanting to leave the practice for at least ten of them. (mostly stayed out of fear of getting worse medical care). Many years ago they had a wonderful NP there who listened to her patients, did thorough examinations and recommended testing when needed which cannot be said of any of the practitioners there since that time. In my twenty plus years I have only seen a physician there a handful of times. At my physical two years ago when I was 56 years old no blood work was recommended. When I asked the NP about it she said I was fine and I didn't need it. I called the next day to say that I wanted the bloodwork done. They agreed. The bloodwork came back with a problem I needed to see a specialist for two or three times. Other routine testing that my peers tell me they get annually at their physicals has never even been suggested. I'm tired of paying high insurance premiums and getting substandard care so the practice can save $$ for the HMOs. read more

I have been a patient with Cohasset Family Practice for 21 years (back then they were the pediatricians for my two children) back then they were awesome! This is the first time I have ever bothered to right a review because I hope that Dr. Golden and Dr. McPhilip's see what is happening to their office probably since their long standing nurse Terry retired. It is actually pitiful. Cohasset family practice nurses and billing staff are so bad it is literally sad. My family was dropped by this office for a $90 bill that literally came my way 2 months ago and was for 3 missed appointments. 2 days later the nurse called my husband because she received paperwork from a visit he had at a walk in clinic which we started going to because we hated going to Cohasset family practice. They never make your appointment with your primary care doctor, they schedule you with who ever and if you do not get Dr. Golden or Dr. McPhilips, it is not worth the trip. This nurse from Cohasset says to my husband, quote, we are concerned because you went to the walk in with a really bad cough... so my husband replies... we just received a letter from your office, do you know that you dropped us for a $90 bill we just got? The nurse said to him... Hold a moment please, came back and said. Sorry, I did not see this in our computer, have a good day. goodbye. Wow.. where did that concern go? I am actually so happy that this horrible new staff did this to me because it made me realize Enough is Enough! And got me to find a new primary care that actually DO care. My only regret is that I did not leave years ago. I hope and wish that everyone can read this review. I love this office. I've been a patient since I was a child and I would never think to go anywhere else. Not only are they always great when I call, even when they are really busy, they always find a way to get me in for an appointment. Sure sometimes there's a wait but that's the same for any office and they don't act like it doesn't happen. This practice has been my go-to PCP for more than 20 years. The office has turned into a patient factory with little to no patient/customer service. For example, I recently received an unsolicited telephone call to book a physical. I was overdue and took them up on the offer only to be told that I had been terminated as a patient when transferred to the front desk. (It's true, about three months prior I had an outstanding bill and was turned away from the doctor's office after physically showing up in the office for a physical. The bill was cleared and all is well, right? WRONG!) I asked to speak to my doctor and was denied. I asked for my doctor's email address and was denied. I wrote a letter to my doctor (a really good guy - see PCP for 20 years above) and much to my chagrin he backed up his office staff and now I need a new PCP. The moral of the story is, the doctor can save you, but his power-play office staff can and will kill you. Word of mouth referrals can make or break a business...this has been the leader in nearly every conversation I have had with South Shore families in the last month. read more
