I ordered the bavette steak and fries. I thought the steak was okay, I wish there was more chimichurri on top for extra flavor. My pals ordered the burrata and fried chicken. This review is only for the Sunday roast. The restaurant feels like a pub and is spacious and good for groups. My friends and I came here on a Sunday for brunch. I opted for the rib eye Sunday roast. It comes with a few slices of rib eye (cooked medium rare by default), Yorkshire pudding, vegetables, mustard and gravy. Sounds simple but the rib eye was really flavorful and the gravy was delicious! I really liked the large serving and variety of vegetables too, especially the turnips. I skipped the Yorkshire pudding as it was a bit dry but I was so full anyway! Overall, a solid place for group brunches. The restaurant is also right at the edge of Exmouth market which is great for walking around afterwards or hitting up a coffee shop post-brunch! read more

Terrible experience. We were traveling on vacation from out of the country and desperately needed our clothes washed on this stop. We searched on Google to see which locations were open on Sunday. Coin Laundry's website said they were open 24 hours. We gathered our laundry and took an Uber for $12 to get there only to be declined by the manager at the door who said the information on the website was wrong and they were closing then at 3:30 pm. So we had to call another Uber and incur another $12 to get back to our hotel. This company's negligence of failing to keep their website correct cost us $25. read more

And if you're not a larger group, like the two of us were - ask for a table on the lower floor as the top floor is so loud (result of several groups of girls with bottomless cocktails) you won't be able to hear yourself think. They've got a great brunch menu, with plenty of comforting but updated classics - all priced at 10 pounds. As recommended by our waiter, my friend opted for the 'most popular dish' - the Coin Laundry fry up. For 10 this certainly is good value as it's a generous portion and my friend highly enjoyed it. I went for the buckwheat pancakes, which were stacked with ricotta, banana and syrup. I liked these! Not overly sweet. I've been meaning to visit here for quite some time now and finally got the chance on Friday night! We were only nipping in for a night cap at around 10pm which meant it was quiet and we were able to grab a table easily. The vibe is relaxed and they have a great selection of drinks to enjoy including some unique cocktails. I was being my awkward self and asked if they served cosmopolitans which weren't on the menu. The waiter checked with the bar man and I was very happy to hear that they were able to serve them - yey! They were slightly slow with the drinks and we had to ask twice for one of the cocktails as they had forgotten but once we received our drinks they were good. My cosmo was made perfectly and we enjoyed the evening. A large and cosy bar, I'll definitely be back to give the food a try! Tomato soup and a cheese toastie, yes please! read more

Classic chicken kiev is surprisingly hard to find in London (those found you would be paying an arm and a leg at other establishments). Here, the kiev is well flavored and perfectly cooked. The fried artichoke appetizer, while tasty, was a bit confusing to eat...perhaps needed some extra trimming, but our meal overall was excellent for the price and quality. Coin Laundry is a great idea that still has a few kinks, but overall very satisfying. They strive to offer home cooked british food 'like you mum used to make'. While I did not grow up in Britain in the 70s, I wouldn't complain if my mum made food like this. They also offer a range of vermouths, some homemade cocktails, a good selection of UK craft beer, and a soda stream. To begin, we ordered vermouths (a newfound love, great to start out a meal!!!). I ordered a Punt e Mas, as I have never knowling had it as its own drink before. Very tasty and a generous oor. The wife ordered the house vermouth spirit, which added bitters and an orange zest to their (lighter, but not white) house vermouth. Also VERY enjoyable, as the bitters added more flavor. However, the waiter had to check whether the house vermouth was red or white before we ordered. No real complaints, as this place just opened 3 December. For our starter we shared the fried artichoke, which came with cottage cheese and some honey oil. Flavors were great, but a couple bites of the artichoke leaves left a poor texture which made the overall dish a little less enjoyable. However the bites with the artichoke hearts and oil and cheese were quite enjoyable. We both got a chicken Keiv for our main (I know, why get the same dish), but they were quite frankly AMAZING. Simple breaded chicken, with a little less stuffing than we would have liked, but the little herby packet inside spread flavor throughout all the meat and made it tender and juicy. This is a dish I would come back for, time and time again. £10 isnt bad for it. They have a basement bar which seemed more cosy, with board games and a pinball machine. Next time we might want to hang out down there. The few drawbacks were mostly the place working out the kinks- the waiter not knowing a lot about the menu, the fried artichokes with some grizzle, and they charged the wrong price for the vermouth I ordered. However, when pointed out, they just subtracted the whole thing off the bill!!!! Very kind of them. They also gave us some vouchers for future use, which included buy one get one free Chicken Kiev!!!! Very generous. Overall, we look forward to coming back and maybe sitting downstairs in a cozier atmosphere. They are also open until 2 am for some later drinks if needed. read more

Really cute atmosphere. Maybe cute isn't the best adjective... but they dolled it up for Christmas when I went and it was great. They placed little Christmas memes over the beer taps, and the staff dressed festively. The space is cool; not super well lit but no need to be. It's not quite as stereotypically public house as some bars in the area, but it's a nice place to hang out and count on the fact that it's big enough that your group of 3-4 can get a table. The prices for food are reasonable; mostly under 15 pounds. I think this is a good spot for a casual date as well, though it's a bit loud for conversations. read more

I headed here for a friends birthday dinner and from the reviews here, had been looking forward to tasting the Kiev. Dinner had started with the prawn cocktail. Which definitely takes me back to my childhood when my mother was still in her 70s mode and had a decent amount of prawns and a tasty Marie Rose sauce. The wife had smoked haddock rarebit. Which was really tasty. But had a bit of curry in the rarebit which was unexpected. But really good. Then came the main event. When it came out it was a quarter chicken breast which tasted amazing and definitely hit the mark. Cauliflower cheese as one of the sides was also really tasty. Only let down point was the hassleback potato. Which turned out to be roast potatoes with some cuts in them that were also quite burnt. Being a roast potato lover this was a disappointment. Moving on to the dessert was the bread and butter pudding. This was also quite tasty but the custard was quite oily. Service here was amazing. Even when the tables started to fill. Big thumbs up to ten staff to pay attention to us but not too much. Would venture back again just in case this was an off night in the kitchen. read more

After reading numerous reviews for Coin Laundry, along with accompanying buzz for a 1970s themed locale, decided to zip across town for dinner after deciding to take the plunge on a whim after checking the hours on the website (Monday - Wednesday 8am - 11pm). We arrived at 930pm to be confronted with the very polite hostess struggling to confirm whether we would still be able to have dinner. She subsequently checked with the chef who confirmed that the kitchen had closed early as it had been quiet (there were two other tables when we arrived). Allegedly last orders for the kitchen are at 10pm - evidently customers permitting based on our experience. Of note is that other places on Exmouth Market seemed to be doing a roaring trade when we passed by before going into Coin Laundry. We found it staggering that this restaurant, which appears to be part of Urban Leisure Group and after checking their website it transpires we actually live near two of their pubs and are familiar with them, seems to make up its hours as it goes along dependent on how busy they are. Who knows whether they are operating these ad-hoc hours with the blessing of the Group or going solo on this one but based on our experience with the Group it could be the former. This being London, going to any restaurant as a rule invariably involves some amount of legwork based on the size of the city so being advised that they had closed the kitchen early for the night is totally unacceptable. In summary DON'T TRUST THE OPENING HOURS. Such a shame as we have now struck Coin Laundry off our list and will be warning others of the minefield you face going there. read more
