My old 1968 electrical panel had some connectors that had been damaged over the years and there was no room for adding additional circuits. I had sent pictures of my old panel / service and a few days later Chris came out and took a look at it in person. Soon after, I was given the written quote. I felt it was a fair price, I signed the quote, and he came out and did the work less than two weeks later. He did an extremely neat / clean installation. He went above and beyond to ensure that all of the existing wiring was up to code. In a few cases he pulled new romex to replace some sections of cable that did not have a ground wire. The work looked professional and he even caulked around the box to be sure everything was water-tight. He coordinated well with the city inspector and PG&E because of the working relationships he has developed over the years.

He noticed our undersized return air and suggested upgrading that as well to improve air flow, efficiency and also wear on the fan. We were given some options/recommendations and were not pressured into anything we didn't need. The price was good and installation was quick and clean, I'll be looking forward to lower gas bills from here out. I have also used HMS for heater repairs at my rentals. Worst customer service I have ever experienced…read more I purchased a home in late 2023 and shortly after, my furnace went out during winter. I had the American Home Shield (AHS) insurance and I made a claim and they contacted Redwood Mechanical who they contract with and they responded promptly. The technician was courteous and professional and gave me detailed explanation of what needed to be done. It was upwards of $10,000 job mostly covered by AHS except for some personal upgrades I would pay out of pocket for. The technician told me that he would email me on Monday probably for a grand total. This was on a Thursday. The following week I heard nothing so I called the office and a woman answered and she said she would check and get back to me. I hadn't heard back from her for a few days so I called back and left a message which went unreturned. From that point on, I was unable to get a hold of anyone at the company for about six weeks. I called several days a week, sometimes several times a day and no one ever answered the phone. I left voice messages, text messages, and email message which all went unanswered. During this time period I called AHS and let them know what was going on. They called and emailed Redwood Mechanical twice with no response and my complaint had been escalated to a higher level with AHS. At the six week mark AHS told me that if Redwood Mechanical didn't respond by the next day that they would find an alternate HVAC company to do the repair work on my furnace. The very next day I called Redwood Mechanical and they actually answered the phone. A coincidence that on the final day before they lost the contract they responded to me? I told the woman I spoke to that I had been trying to get a hold of her for six weeks. Her response was that the product hadn't come in yet, she was sick, I think she said she had to take the kids to school, etc. I was like yeah okay but SIX WEEKS with not answer to any of my messages? She admits that they "dropped the ball." They did complete the job eventually and the work was good quality and met my expectations. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt and am understanding when mishaps occur but this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 59 years. I don't understand how anyone runs a business like this, ignoring a customer's call and emails for a month and a half. The only thing I could figure was one of two things: 1. Because I was using AHS and Redwood Mechanical had the contract to repair my furnace, they knew I would be there waiting regardless so they didn't care enough to make a minimal effort to "meet and exceed" their customers' expectations as stated on their website. Just put me dead last on the customer service list knowing I'd be there when they felt like dealing with me. Pretty coincidental that on the last day before losing the contract they responded to me. For all I know, the product had already come in days before but they preferred to handle other jobs first. Or 2. The other possibility is that they just don't know/don't care how to run a business. It's been about a year since I had work done and did not plan on writing a Yelp review. However, a few weeks ago I had called the office asking about type/size filter they had installed so I could get some. She told me she doesn't have the info but would ask and get back to me. And I never heard back from her. So same old same old so... 5 stars for work done 0 star for customer service.

We had a cold spap weather this week and when I called four heating companies none could come out for service for three days more I reached California Heating at 4pm and they came out the next morning as promised and within twenty minutes diagnosed why my 40 year old Coleman furnace had stopped working. As it turned out my HOA had hired a plumber to replace my gas meter which meant they had to turn off the gas without telling me which meant there was no gas for the pilot light. California Heating cleaned the furnace relit the pilot light. The total charge was $135 the cost of a service call. Great job One of my best friends used them twice once for a complete new furnace for his home and another for a wall unit on a rental property.

I checked the yellow pages and found The Plumber Man. I came here to Yelp and found a really great review so called to make an appointment. We had three rather simple things to take care of but neither of us in the house could handle that. The brothers showed up on time, were pleasant and very helpful. They took care of all three problems (dripping shower, toilet that needed handle held forever for it to flush and leak under a sink.) It took them about an hour, including a trip for parts. Their charge was extremely reasonable. After posting on Facebook about how pleased we were, several friends commented that they also use the Plumber Man and recommend to their friends. So lots of stars from our household and we will certainly call them next time we need some plumbing work done.

Based on a word-of-mouth referral, we called DC Mechanical. As with all heating and air companies this time of year, their calendar was full for the next week or more... but they offered to fit us in today. Not only did their technician (Jim) stay in touch and answered my texts early this morning, but he was here per his prediction, and fixed the leak--basically re-fitting the piping from the gas line to the furnace, including replacing one of the fittings. Not only that, but he did a quick system check, and asked us about any other issues. Jim and his manager Dan get a hearty Thanks from us!!
