We went to this place on two separate nights this week for baseball games. First night we walk in and they seat us on a high top. The hostess makes it a point to tell us we have a one hour limit. We ordered burger and Asian salad. We noticed a table had opened up however when we went to ask hostess she said we couldn't have the table because there was a wait list. The table sat empty for about 20 minutes. Our food came out. We were happy with our server and she apologized they wouldn't let us move. Both items were good. Two days later we go back in this time, there were 3 employees watching the game. They said there was an hour wait time. We asked if we could try the bar and they said sure. Our party of 4 walked in however there was no room. We came back out. We asked them why it would take so long if there was an hour limit. The hostess very rudely replied, "That's not my job". So in other words this particular night there was not a one hour limit. We explained we had been there two nights ago and were told several times by the hostess and the server we would only be allowed inside the restaurant for one hour. We were visiting team fans. Was that an issue? We arrived at the 5th inning. Literally no reason. She could tell we were upset and another employee then said let me see what we can do and we were sat about 25 minutes later. I am not sure these hostesses are keeping it consistent. There was no line behind us. We couldn't believe how rude they all were as they stood behind the counter watching the game and chatting amongst themselves. We could see there was a private event. We saw food runners but nobody was leaving so in other words the one hour rule was not being enforced which would have allowed for us to get a table. Seems like they pick and choose. We were hungry and we knew the burger was good so we stayed but perhaps make better use of their time and keep it consistent. I came here before for a Yelp event and had a good time here more than 2 years ago. But I remember the place was pretty empty. Fast forward 2 years later and I came here on a Friday night right before a Phoenix Mercury game. You have to go thru security and take the elevator up. The place was packed with people with barely any seats at the bar! Just a note, Phoenix Mercury was playing over at the PHX arena. I needed some food and a beverage and had a wheat beer and ordered some chicken tenders and fries. Both items were solid, no complaints. What is kind of annoying is that they don't do happy hours when there is a game, I guess I can understand but I definitely paid way too much for the items I ordered. But, what I will say is that they have a phenomenal view of the field and to be honest, the view from up here was better than my seats for a game I came later. Went to this location for the first time yesterday and was not happy. They were slammed, which is fine, there was a big game happening. We were told it was about a 30 minute wait. That's fine. We waited about 30 minutes until we received a text saying our table was ready. As we walked up a woman got there before us, threw a fuss, and then our table of 6 was given away to a party of 9. No one came over to tell us that. We just watched it happen in front of us. No one apologized. Prior to the text, our party had a spot on the bench to sit. But after we got the text we all got up, lost our spot on the bench, and then had to wait an additional 15 minutes standing awkwardly in front of the host station. Staff was super unprofessional about the whole situation. Not to mention the food just straight up sucked and they messed up orders. I didn't even eat half of my burger because it didn't taste right. Two people from our party ended up with upset stomachs after eating at this location. Tons of food places to go to near and at the stadium, but I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Came here after work with a girlfriend for food before the Dbacks game. We had a 45 min wait which we expected since we arrived at 5:30pm and the game started at 6:45pm. Ordered some pretzels with cheese and a chicken salad. The pretzels and the salad were good. The dipping cheese, well that was a bit off. I can't pin it. But there was something g that didn't taste right. Now, seating was phenomenal. We did not know this about the restaurant before we decided to come. We had ticket reservations for a table for four on the lowest level. Great seats as this is probably the fourth time I've attended a game from CBCB seats. Our server was very good and attentive. We eventually ordered food and this night something was off. My burger was very dry and the bun seemed stale. My sweet potato fries were good but my wife had mozzarella sticks and some parts of it were hollow with no mozzarella inside, very weird. The last few times I ate there everything was good, not sure what happened that evening. We were just there in August and no issues. Hope this isn't something new to expect. read more

We had family visiting from Chicago (we live in Tucson), so we decided to go see a game. My son's are huge White Sox (and baseball in general) fans and since they couldn't come up for any spring training games, we decided to stay in Scottsdale for a couple days and go watch the Diamondbacks. My son booked tickets and we all thought it would be fun to watch the game from the Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers patio overlooking Chase Field. Tickets were reasonable considering they included a generous voucher for food. Wait staff were very attentive and the food was decent but that's where the good ended. It's also the only reason they garnered two stars. You see, I use a walker if I'm going to be walking a lot, as I have RA, scoliosis, a bad knee that's been operated on and degenerative disc disease. I try not to let any of this slow me down. When we arrived at Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers, I was escorted to a small service elevator after winding out way through the restaurant. This led down our patio, one floor below. I asked about using the restroom during the game and was informed that I would need to flag someone down to use the elevator, as it required an operator. When my son booked the tickets, he was very mindful of my needs and nowhere was any of this mentioned in booking. I drank very little during the game to limit my bathroom use and instead of trying to find someone to help with the elevator (because at the age of 59, apparently I'm not capable of operating an elevator ), I left my walker at the table and my son helped me up and down the steps to the restroom. I only did this twice during the game and decided I couldn't risk another trip on the stairs. When the game was over, my son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter and husband headed for the stairs and I wheeled my walker to the elevator and waited. And waited. And waited. There was a button to push. This summoned exactly nobody. I asked two passing wait staff for help and they said they would contact a manager. I ended up waiting almost 20 minutes before someone finally came. When the elevator reached the upper floor, I had to follow the manager through a maze of people and tables, many of which needed to be moved from the walkway. Why everyone was allowed to pile into the walkway and put tables in the way is beyond me. I was very embarrassed to be stared at as everyone was moved out of my way. I also almost didn't make it to the bathroom in time after the wait and trek. I'm guessing not only was the establishment barely ADA compliant but probably very non-compliant with fire safety standards with all the walkways being blocked.. Had there been fire or other emergency, I had no safe, quick exit. We'll return to Chase Field to cheer on the Diamondbacks but we will not be watching from Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers. It could have been a fantastic day but this whole debacle certainly put a damper on my fun. Edit to add: We were not there when the White Sox were in town. It was Native American Heritage Day and I was the only person who used the elevator during the entire game, including after while I waited. As far as the fire hazard, I'm sure you pass inspection before the crowd moves in but allowing tables and people to fill the exit paths is a definite hazard. Several tables, chairs and people had to be moved so I could get through. These are areas that should be kept clear, just as the steps leading to various sections in the park are kept clear. They certainly don't allow people to sit on the steps and block the pathways. Perhaps this was a one-off situation when we attended but it certainly shows poor management. read more

I have seen a couple Diamondback games from this location back when it was Front Row Fridays. Front Row Fridays closed in 2021 due to the pandemic and now fast growing Valley chain Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers is the newest tenant since the start of the 2023 baseball season. Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers is part of Chase Field and is open 7 days a week (even on non-game days). There are a lot of TV's inside here to watch sports when there isn't a live game going on inside Chase Field. CB&CB's is known for their gourmet burgers and large beer selection and has locations all over the Valley. I believe there is an extra charge to reserve the tables near the field on game days. Fun Fact: In 1998, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were in the middle of their chase for the single-season home run record. It was a magical season for baseball and the Diamondbacks inaugural year. During batting practice at Chase Field (know as Bank One Ballpark back then) in June 1998, McGwire hit a ball that shattered the neon "Friday Row Fridays" sign that was outside the restaurant in left field. If you're goal is to actually "watch" the game, this seems like the place to do it. There might be 20+ TV's here, enough that they balanced two different sporting events shown at the same time. The view into Chase Field is pretty slick as well. -What's good: seat to TV ratio is tremendous - there's literally TV's everywhere. Service was really exceptional, especially for a sports bar. Large beer selection. -What's not so good: food wasn't great and just okay. The Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich is a serious piece of chicken, but I'd pass on it and go for something this place is advertised for (burgers). We haven't been downtown in quite some time, and today decided to go to the auto show at the convention center. As it had been a while since we were downtown; I didn't realize how many restaurants in the vicinity are closed for business, especially in Arizona center. There was food available at the convention center, but nothing looked too appealing and there was also a flea market nearby that had quite a few food trucks, and we wandered thru there, and while some of the options looked interesting, the lines were super long, and there was very limited seating. So we decided to wander around, use, yelp and see what we could find and honestly, they were just not many options that were open today. As we headed back to the car, we noticed a sign for cold beer and cheeseburgers. I is technically part of Chase field, but a sign said 'now open game day AND every day.' The entrance we went in certainly didn't look open, but the doors were unlocked and you go up the elevator and voila, you are at the bar. There are tons of televisions with all the most important sports games on- we were able to watch Ohio State versus Michigan and Georgia versus Georgia Tech. And of course the ongoing FIFA soccer games. Perfect trifecta. It would be awesome to come here during an actual Diamondbacks game and as you can see you have a phenomenal view of the field. There was hardly anybody here, which, if I lived down here, I'd probably be a regular. With that said, we were more interested in just a snack so we split a Buffalo chicken burger, which was very tasty and I really like their coleslaw (not sweet). Service was super friendly. It was just very slow service, which was interesting since there were so few people at the restaurant. Anyway, pint of beer for a Miller light was five dollars, so not too shabby. Our total bill to split a sandwich and one drink was about $30. Hopefully they will get enough business to be able to stay open! We would come back. I went here last year and it was awesome, we had the best time and food and a great view. This year we were greeted by a hostess that presented attitude to us from the moment we walked in. I would give this place 0 stars now from this experience. From the way she talked to us to the way she represented the restaurant was so poor. If I was a manager and heard her speaking to customers that way, she would have been fired on the spot. She lacks customer service and has no people skills. I asked if our names could be put on the wait list for one of the tables next to the field and she said that they are now selling those tables for $200 for the game and the booths are $100 during game time but the other high top tables are first-come first-served. I said okay Can you please show me which tables are first come, first served? She walked us over and showed us all of the high tops behind the booths on the bar level. I said to her "wow that's crazy those are being sold this year! I sat at those ones last year for free and I can't believe these ones are first come first served." She said "yeah" with tons of sass and then walked away as we stayed by the first come first served tables so we could snag a spot. About 5 minutes later some customers finished and got up so we patiently waited for the bus boy to clear the table and then we were about to sit down. The same girl comes up and said "did you put your name on the waitlist?" And we said no and she said "oh because these tables are first come first served" and I said I know." So she said "you have to be on the waitlist for first come first served." Then I asked her if she knew what first come first served means? And she said yes do you know what it means? And I said "I have worked in 3 restaurants for 5 years, yes I know what it means, is this your first job? And she said "I am 22 this is not my first restaurant job!! Is this your first time in a restaurant???!!" So after she was smart, scolded us and falsely told us the tables were first come first serve we left and went to Guy Fieri's restaurant. The staff was wonderful and I recommend you go there instead and try the trash can nachos, you won't be disappointed! Today, we ordered the American Cheeseburger Sliders with carmelized onions, chicken strips, chips and fries (if you want French fries there are add on costing extra). The sliders were good. The burgers were flaorful and the chicken strips, chips, and fries were good as well. The service was fast and friendly.
