Always clean, well organized and spacious, despite the open layout there's usually a quiet corner (within a large two floor setup) to retreat to if needed.

New modern bright large quiet library full of books, I was able to find a very rare study test book…read morei needed so I called to see if I could borrow being that I am not a direct member but only a Suffolk County Librarian Card holder the reference supervisor approved a short term loan out to me. So impressed how beautiful all of our north shore community libraries are worth all the tax dollars we spend honestly. This is my favorite and most frequented library so far for studying (and I've been to 9 different…read morelibraries this year). There are 3 floors. The 3rd floor is a designated quiet floor. And the 2nd floor, although it's not specifically a quiet floor, is usually quiet enough for me to not need headphones. Also, because there are 3 floors, I am almost always guaranteed to find a free table. There are over 30 tables throughout the library (not including cubicles). They also have a little eating area on the first floor which is great if you plan on being there for an extended period of time/during a meal time. They have some snacks you can buy there as well. You can eat non odorous snack foods in the library, but if you have a sandwich or got food delivered, you need to eat in the cafeteria area. Overall, this is my absolute favorite library. Plus all the staff has been very kind to me and super helpful. 10/10 would recommend if you need a quiet place to study for the day!

They usually get the latest books fairly soon after publication and if it is not on the shelf they have a quick and painless set up to request it when it becomes available. They also have a large selection of movies and audio books as well as a vast array of periodicals. To round it all out, they maintain a very comprehensive website. Big parking lot on the side.

The grounds are completely free to enter, with ample parking, well-maintained porta potties, and a small museum offering additional information and bathrooms. We've visited both in the winter and recently in the spring, and each season offered a different experience. On our latest visit, we took the short, manageable trail to the beach area with our dog. Walking among the towering hundred-year-old trees felt magical, almost like stepping back in time. The beach views were incredibly serene, and we even got to witness two deer running freely through the forest, chasing each other. This place is more than just a historic site, it gives you an awe-inspiring feeling. Between the peaceful scenery, rich history, and natural beauty, it felt like we were transported to another time. Absolutely recommend a visit here.

The house itself can be toured with timed guided tours Friday through Sunday. These open for reservation 9:30a online for the same day and ate usually sold out in minutes so plan accordingly! I can't comment on the house since I did not snag tickets when I naively went. However, the grounds are beautiful and the walk down to the forested loop trail with the beach outlet to the harbor is stunning. There is also a museum onsite that is free to visit and enter. It contains history of the family's home life, initial political career in NY state, and Vice Presidency and Presidency, issues he championed, and post Presidency conservation work and legacy.

The study tables on the second floor are okay, but the silent study rooms are very small, and are claustrophobic. The staff is very helpful, but anything is hard to find. Internet is limited, and resources are once again limited. And the worst part is, you have to sign up to get access to their wireless internet connection. It's just a hurdle at every step. I would skip Jericho, and just drive down Jericho turnpike and go to Syosset's library. Trust me...
