I'm sure most people who have lived in the Phoenix valley for some time are familiar with Cold Stone Creamery. They have many shops and most are ice-cream cutter locations. My wife was craving coffee ice cream with almonds and toffee so we stopped into the location in the Shoppes at Casa Paloma. It's tucked away so not easy to see from Ray Road. Upon entry, we received a friendly greeting and we ordered two custom like-it-sized cups. They have limited seating ... about 4 tables each with two chairs. We found the table with the least mess and enjoyed our treat. There was also one table outside but it was 100 degrees that day so I expect nobody wants a metal burn mark on their bottom and back. Overall, Cold Stone is a decent place to go. The ice cream is consistent but a tad pricy. If you have a larger family or party, you will not find enough seating together inside. read more

Came in for a little sweet treat and just was like super sad that the cone was a little chewy instead of like crunchy. Also, the cone was like super small compared to a lot of of other cold stones and it tasted like a lot a lot of cinnamon . First time at this location. I needed something cold and sweet and decided to give it a try. it's always interesting to see what limited edition flavors they carry. Right now they have brown sugar, caramel truffle, cake, batter, and a special marshmallow Minion flavor. I had decided to get the brown sugar and banana ice cream with fresh banana on top. Fresh ingredients. Priced as expected. Came on an extremely busy night and seen only one Cold-stone employee working, the line was going out the door. He was working as quickly and efficiently as possible all the while holding a very positive and uplifting attitude. It's hard to mess up and my experience is that it taste delicious. For me, what made the experience is the girl who served us our ice cream. I think she said her name was Claudia. She was so kind and had no idea the kind of night my husband and I were having. Her kindness and gentle smile created light and comfort in what felt like a dark place in mine and my husband's life. It was a warm, slightly uncomfortable day with a high of 111 where my family found ourselves thinking "Hmm, you know what would make today great? Del Taco." before realizing that it was Taco Tuesday and therefore an atrocious line would await us! As the door slowly came ajar by mine own hand, a cool Winter breeze could be felt -- just mild enough to not Marilyn Monroe my hair. It was wonderful anyways. But then in front of me stood some Minions Marshmallow Ice Cream advertisements! Despite the temptation, I chose to forego this creamy yellow goodness in favor of a Sweet Cream & Mint with White Chocolate Chip mixture. The persons behind the counter were very kind and helpful. The taste was refreshing -- possibly a bit too sweet, but alas this is my own fault for getting the Sweet Cream instead of the Moderate Cream. Regardless, it was a beautiful end of the night, now sitting at the table with a glass of 17-year aged Japanese Scotch and my daughter and her freshly earned Blue Cotton Candy Milk Mustache from the drippings and not desiring to wipe it off because it is hilarious. Would give this location zero stars if I could. We went in tonight and just wanted a simple sweet cream with some toppings, as probably some of the people in the line going out of the door did. After waiting in line for a good amount of time, we finally get up to our turn just to find out that they have no sweet cream. A lot of the containers were empty and not refilled. I work at a frozen yogurt shop and never have we ever left our desserts low like that or come up with an alternative. We also keep extras of everything, especially our most popular flavors. They told us they have none and asked what else we would like. I walked out because that was just absolutely ridiculous but my fiance stayed and got just basic vanilla because he feels awkward in situations like that. However, I don't. He ended up throwing it out after 2 bites. I am not trying to be a Karen but it was a legit cluster and after working in a dessert shop for 3+ years now, that was just absolutely ridiculous. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH IMPORTANT CELEBRATIONS. We ordered a cake for my daughters birthday and when we show up the employees are obviously confused on where the cake is. After a phone call to a manager and looking around, they hand us a cake that is not even close the original order! They tell us just the name is wrong but the cake is correct. Even though our cake was supposed to have a colored frosting. The employee takes off the name and gives us the cake and PROMISES the flavors inside are correct. They were nothing like we wanted! Probably not coming back. In case managers check this and want to cross it with the schedule, I arrived on Sunday October 25th at 2:30pm. I came in with my son and a friend of mine. I cannot remember the last time I was at cold stone, I actually suggested Baskin Robins but my friend wanted cold stone. I came in and did not receive a warm welcome. The young woman was polite and working with another customer. The young man with glasses at the counter was not super welcoming. I have a 7 year old who has not been to an ice cream shop in probably 6 months as we have been staying indoors. I asked the employee if my son was able to try a sample of strawberry. He said no we don't do samples. Here's the thing, I'm not upset at the answer. I was upset about how he delivered it. I was embarrassed and asked "have you never done free samples or is it because of covid?". One word response... "Covid." Uhh ok? My 7 year old got the strawberry anyway. I got their new Reeses Pieces PB ice cream cup. Which by the way, is hard, broke my plastic spoon and overall just not worth money. The woman was helping my friend. When I wash cashing out, the man automatically put both our transactions on my order. He didn't ask if it was all together and it shouldn't be my job to tell him it was separate. In fact, his order wasn't even done yet. $21.00 for a lousy pb cup, strawberry ice cream that my son was rudely unable to sample and my friends order. The ultimate ice cream experience. I rarely go for ice cream since it's on the less healthy side of food or desert choices. I regard it as a slow heart attack item. Nevertheless, gotta go sometime. Meaning, when in particular company, icecream is a nice added feature presenting cool social benefits. I mean you can't not share a sample with your date or companion. Anyway, the cold stone gimmick of mashing and mixing the icecream on the cold stone slab adds to the entertainment of the moment. And the waffle layout in a dish makes for a total yum experience.
