All of the ciders that we tried where beautiful, sadly they did not have the mojito cider in sock, which is what we where looking forward to most. I heard it is one of there house favourites. The bees-knees cider and apple crumble cider was unlike anything I have tried before and it was a refreshing change. Good value for money with the size of the meals, there parma one of the better I have had I just wish the chicken was a little thicker. Overall all we did not leave hungry or sober. read more

Well, this was not at all what I was expecting! This isn't a giant brewery like it's nearby neighbour White Rabbit, but instead seems like a small and quiet restaurant/bar that's named after a drink! You'd drive right past it if you didn't know what you were looking for. For those of you that haven't tried Coldstream Cider before; SHAME ON YOU. It is so clear and crisp it looks like you are drinking a pint of water! So if quality cider and beer is important to you, Coldstream has got that down pat. The service has that old, country-style feeling to it where the bartenders call you 'love' and 'darl'. I am yet to have a sit-down meal here but I honestly can't wait until I next get the chance. read more

This is the worst place to eat at. The food is disgusting the manager tells customers to F off as she did me. The staff are nasty. The tables are dirty. What a dumb! I give it a big fat 0! The second time here and I'm still impressed. Both times the staff squeezed us in in spite of not having a booking and we didn't mind eating quickly. The staff are friendly and efficient. We both had the fish and chips and thought it to be delicious but the chips were a bit anaemic. They were out of Pale Ale so we had the summer ale (which we were told is the Pale Ale with elderflower) and was nice but the other half would've preferred the original. read more

We stopped by here for lunch in a large group, for which there is a limit on group size and a set menu. Entrees were hummus dip with bread, chips with aioli, and calamari. Then pizzas came out for main, and then even more pizzas came out! No one left hungry that's for sure. Very nice pizzas- the mushroom pizza was a particular standout. I only tried the pear cider, but it was very enjoyable- will be trying to track this drink down again. There are a few different areas to enjoy your beer and cider- the inside restaurant/bar area, outdoors, or the back bar which has more seating and bifold windows so you can enjoy that yarra valley sunshine whilst sitting at your bar stool. They also have Sunday sessions running from 3-6pm with local music acts! Get amongst it. read more

Coldstream Brewery was one of our first stops on a DIY winery tour in the Yarra Valley with a group of friends. However, it turned out to be my least favourite stop of the day. They offered a beer paddle of 5 beers on tap, but the servings were tiny and it cost far more than any of the other breweries/wineries that we visited that day (including Chandon.) Also, the staff that was behind the bar that day was the least passionate about the products they were serving. It felt like the brewery was just using it's location for making money off of people doing wine/beer tours of the region and wasn't really interested in people enjoying the experience or learning about their beers. There wasn't technically anything 'wrong' with the brewery, but in comparison to so many other great wineries plus the White Rabbit brewery in the area, our time and money would have been better spent elsewhere. read more

A great little brewery. I love the original ale. But all the beers are good. The cider is amazing. They have the apple in a few different strengths aswell. It has a great atmosphere with a beer garden out back, seating out front. Inside there is a casual sitting/dining area and also a more formal seating area to dine. Upstairs is a good sized function room. The food is really good. Can be a little pricey. Even more so with the Sunday menu. I love the desserts. My fav is a chocolate and custard deep fried spring roll. You have to try it. So if u r looking for a meal or drinks this place has you covered. read more

The Coldstream Cider and the Coldstream Pilsner are probably their biggest selling beers. But they also have a number of other beers to try that are heavier and equally as good. If I was you I'd try a tasting rack before and try them all before you just plump for a drop you already know. The restaurant itself is a warm and friendly place to spend a couple of hours. We cycled from Lilydale to Coldstream through the relentless rain and entered the door of the Coldstream brewery like a pair of drowned rats in desperate need of help. Rather than getting a League of Gentlemen-esque response, we were looked after thoroughly. Luckily, they had literally just started to stoke up the open fire and we plonked ourselves right in front. All that was left to do was to try their hearty pub food and try out their more obscure beers. The beer soaked ribs were a particular highlight. Their darker ales and hot drinks topped off an enjoyable experience but the rain did not stop and we headed on our way to Yarra Glen (after about 3 hours), our next destination. read more

Had my engagement party here a few months ago and it was fantastic. Staff were great and the drinks and food were exceptional. They allowed us to put up our own decorations and were very helpful with letting us into the function room before hand to get ideas. For a venue hire, the pricing was great and was on par with most pub function rooms around melbourne, but with much better food and drink selection. The only downside is the distance from public transport, so make sure you have a few designated drivers to get you to and from the venue. All the drinks there are great, but my personal favourite is the cider, but I've had many friends that raved about how great the porter was. read more

Situated in the tiny town of Coldstream, 45 kilometers east of Melbourne, the Coldstream Brewery is home to a cosy little restaurant/bar and brewery. The rustic restaurant houses exposed bricks, wooded floors and ceiling and old school hospitality. The friendly vibe enveloped me as I walked in through the front doors. I was there for lunch and couldn't resist the chicken parma after searching the list of steaks, pies and pizza. The food was fresh and tasty. I washed it down with the delicious Naked Ale that they have on tap. The Coldstream logo has to be the coolest I've seen. You gotta check it out - go to the website now! They produce a variety of beers and have a delicious and punchy cider. You can partake in a brewery tour on the weekend or book a private one if you have a group of 10 or more. Unfortunately the setting of the brewery is on the main highway through town and not off in the hills surrounded by trees, for if so, it would be perfect! read more

Don't go to Coldstream Brewery expecting a brewery. Sure it is just out the back, and you can do tours on the weekend, or you can gaze at the factory through the windows of the comfy and cosy gastro pub that is the Coldstream Brewery. The Coldstream Brewery gastro pub has it all. A delicious and exciting menu - which granted is on the expensive side and may look on the surface fairly traditional - that uses beer as a cooking medium in as many ways possible. The wine list is really well chosen and the staff all attentive and knowledgeable. In fact this is a gourmand's heaven. Which brings me to the beer. If you haven't tried Coldstream beer from the tap before then Coldstream Brewery is a must. Something about the way the beer is brewed or maybe it's just the taps they use, whatever it is it makes the Coldstream beers pour in a similar way to Guinness. You can watch the beer slowly settle, cascading down the side of the glass, until you are left with a crisp yet creamy beer. And they manage this effect on their lighter beers such as their Pilsner as well as their heavier brews like the English style Bitter. Coldstream Brewery does taste testing of 5 of their brews (including their crisp cider) for $12. And they update their menu seasonally and use a large amount of fantastic local produce. read more

Best tasting craft brews I experienced in and around Yarra Valley. The temperature of the beer was outstanding and extremely fresh. Unfortunately the food was not impressive and the service was just ok. So highly recommend it if your in search of a great beer, but skip it if your looking for a good meal. read more
