So after a lot of rest, I needed to help the rehab along, so I headed down the road for a massage at Alderney Chiropractic. Oh. My. God. Awesome. My therapist's name was Mhari and she was just great. She was knowledgeable and had that great massage style that felt really gentle but you could tell she was really working out the kinks. Considering the area (yup, my butt), she totally helped me feel comfortable. Have also heard fantastic things about the resident chiropractor as well, though haven't had treatment myself. Another favourite was student discount--LOVE that. Great experience! Try them out! :)

He listens very well to my concerns and I simply feel comfortable. He runs a great clinic with great people working with him. They also have a great massage therapist, Michael, amazing! He knows what he is doing and brings relief to the problem areas very well. The receptionists are friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a good naturopathic doctor, Dr. Macleod, who is helping me figure out food sensitivities for me and my children. A great place for your health with people who care.

Walking in I was greeted by a friendly woman, rude of me not to get her name but she was very helpful. Massage Addict is actually a membership based massage therapy location which long story short means $50 for a 1 hours massage. Yes you have to sign up for 12 months but you can leave at any point.. This location is actually pretty new. Nice decorated with a vibrant green wall when you first walk in which is very eye catching. Nice white leather coach to relax while waiting. Micheal actually gave me my massage and he was very good, very strong I did not know weather to cry or hug him. But the most important thing my back feels 100% better and this was my first one. I have already booked for March and I can not wait. Oh yeah they are starting the week of Feb 21 with Esthetics's services as well and the prices are very reasonable. Some of the services that they offer are Beyond Brazilian I can just imagine but other then waxing they will do Facial care as well as Nails. I will post a picture tomorrow for you..

Having felt quite frustrated with my insurance company as of late and getting more so as the months go on, I decided this was a nice way to relax and also "avenge" myself by ensuring that we are sucking every last dollar out that we're entitled to on our plan. I haven't had a lot of experience with getting massages (none in fact) but as a business these guys are solid. Friendly front desk staff, and the therapists are professional and friendly. I always walk out of there feeling a little more relaxed and a little less tense. The introductory rate can't be beat and the monthly membership is definitely a savings. And as with all benefits I put it on my credit card for the points and then have my insurance company reimburse :) #winning

I have been suffering with severe headaches and migraines for almost two years now. I've been for test after test, and tried many different medications. As a last resort I decided to follow a co-workers suggestion and try out a naturopath at Pillars of Health. I booked an appointment with Dr. Jennifer Salib Huber (who is also a dietitian), and immediately felt at ease. She asked me more questions than I think my family doctor has ever asked me, and then was able to determine a likely cause, and a treatment plan including dietary changes and visits to a chiropractor (not a pile of prescription meds!) In three days I had better results than I had had in the past two years, and the following week I went to see Dr. Denise Wright, the chiropractor in the office, who also helped me greatly but with no big whipping or snapping movements that I was scared of. She was also great when it came to putting me at ease, and always uses the gentlest method of adjustment possible. She also suggested I see a Registered Massage Therapist (Meghan L. Munro (Palmer), and all three combined have virtually gotten rid of my headaches. I know for someone without medical coverage this can be expensive but for those who are covered by an insurance plan I would highly recommend all of the staff at Pillars of Health. I also liked that they are trying to help me not have to come back. I know that my sound weird but sometimes I feel like (especially with private practitioners), they want you to keep coming so they keep getting paid, but here getting you better really is their #1 priority. They do direct bill to Blue Cross, and their clinic is very clean and welcoming.

Well it did work! I'm off narcotics, reduced the other medications and feel terrific. She's helped me through back pain, lack of sleep, reduced energy levels, thyroid issues, and more. I can't say enough good things about their willingness to help and want you to feel better. My first visit was a head to toe overview of an hour to make sure we would focus on what was required. She's worked to make me feel better and is never trying to make me come more often than required.

Despite the discomfort in which I expressed he continued. It wasn't until I expressed that I was in severe pain did he stop and claimed I must've had a "prior injury." He failed to ask me the relevant questions or thoroughly review my file. Upon leaving my appointment I went straight to the emergency to find out that he had in fact dislocated my shoulder. I had then reached out to the clinic to notify them of their malpractice in which they denied all claims and have done nothing to compensate for the injury caused in their clinic. I have not only endured an injury and extreme discomfort but I have been forced to take time off work and have incurred additional fees to recover. I would recommend avoiding this clinic at all costs. They have proven their incompetence and lack of genuine care for their doing.

I called about 20 practices in the southern half of the island, up to Halifax and only two contacted me back, Dr Brad Lohrenz's wife being one of the callbacks. She actually returned my call on Sunday - which I found superbly accommodating, and offered that Dr Lohrenz see me the same day. So I drove down to Halifax and was helped in a way that I find very similar to what I experienced at my chiropractor back home. My pain was relieved for the largest part the same day, and we added some follow up visits to work through the blockage. I did have to get used to the very short (10 minutes or so) follow-up visits (in Belgium, every visit is 40-5- minutes, intake or follow up :) ) and while Dr Lohrenz saw me four times in 2 weeks, I added 3 more visits with another chiropractor and one therapeutic massage while I was traveling onward. But all in all, Dr Lohrenz helped me very well. He explained his evaluation and treatment process clearly, which I highly appreciate. His assistant and wife were both also very kind to me. now, four weeks later, I am still pain free and happy I can continue my travels!
