Delivery guy was arguing with me on the phone and then argued with the flower recipient because he wouldn't let me finish describing where to deliver the flowers despite my very detailed initial directions. He also kept saying my name as the recipient when it was clearly marked for someone else, and had my name as the "from" part. They were sympathy flowers. Our friend died the night before. Who is that dense??? Who argues with two people going through a loss??? I will never be ordering anything from this place again. Disgusting behavior. read more

I wanted a fruit and snacks basket delivered on the same day (Saturday) to a Richmond hospital. I'm extremely disappointed to feel I need to write this review. When ordering flowers from here, I was told that I was going to get a certain amount of specific flowers for my recipient. They told me they were not in stock, but they'd have them in time for the delivery date. Upon calling them to review and make sure that they did have the correct flowers. The young lady that I spoke to stated that she did not have them, and would not be able to send them instead she sent something else, and stated it as if it was not a question that they were just going to do it, regardless whether I wanted them to or not. Once I requested that they give me the flowers that I paid for and requested, they made an effort to finally find some. And told me that they would be able to meet the objective and amount of flowers that was ordered. When my recipient receive the flowers, I received multiple pictures showing the flowers, and there was nowhere near the enough flowers that I ordered. Upon calling the location to discuss it I was met with a lot of defensiveness, aggression and arguments from them, including one woman telling me to go, call the recipient and have her count the flowers. There was extremely little to none sympathy given toward my experience. As if I was bothering them, I would one recommend not to use this florist and refuse anybody else. Things weren't so rosy at my last experience with Coleman Bros. Let me preface by saying that I've been a long time patron of this floral shop! Decades! And typically I'm pretty satisfied overall. But this experience lilac-ed luster. On this occasion, my friend's "mum" passed, and I went online to order flowers through their site. I ordered a large sympathy bouquet spending over $100. They offered a "good", "better", "best" choice of arrangements. I chose the best! When my friend received them, she sent a picture thanking me. Oopsie daisy! These flowers looked awful! Nothing like the photo! Where there were supposed to be over a dozen stems and filler ferns, the photo showed maybe 6 stems total, all droopy and withered. My tulips fell open in dismay! I was very disappointed and tried to call the shop. I called several times at different hours over several days hoping to correct this over the phone. But alas, I had to make the trek down to the shop to voice my concern. When I told the lady behind the counter that I'd been calling and no one answered, when clearly they had about 10 people on staff at the shop, she goes "we're busy". I suggested they hire someone else to take calls for peony's sake! She was very unapologetic and flippant. She stated that the floral arrangement was contracted out to another florist in my friend's area. She told me I'd have to speak to them. Nope! Sorry, that won't do. I ordered from you and you need to correct it. Then she suggested I reorder from the same lame company that sent the first crappy bouquet, and they'd send out another arrangement. What in "carnation"? Nope! She wasn't being very helpful. You know, you hate to pull the "let me speak with the manager" card, but this woman was talking in circles, making excuses and I wasn't in the mood for ring around the rosy, pocket full of posy! I showed them a photo what I ordered compared to what was received. The difference was obvious. Honestly, a Kroger bouquet looked wwaaaay better than the "pro"flower shop they contracted. After jumping through a garden of hoops, and waiting over 45 minutes while this lady called the other shop, conferred with the manager and did the paperwork, I was finally refunded my money! At first they weren't going to refund the delivery charges, but after I said my piece, they eventually rose to the occasion and credited my card. I put my "petal" to the metal and left still perturbed that it cost me time, money and irritation to correct a transaction that could have been done more smoothly. Today was my Mom's funeral. In the craziness, I forgot to order a small spray for the interment spot at her church. The service was at 2. Coleman's closed at 1. I dashed in literally at 12:52 pm to see if they had ANYTHING that would work. They were SO kind, and asked what colors. I said peach yellow and white were in the church flowers, and her favorites. I visited Coleman Brothers completely by accident; my car broke down right in front of their store! While I was waiting for a tow truck I decided I might as well take a look around inside. The store is enormous, larger than any other flower shop I've ever seen. They had a wide variety of beautiful fresh flowers, both as premade bouquets and as separates for custom arrangements, vases, gifts, and decorations. They do such a good job at helping you get exactly what you want and it's so reasonably priced! I lived in California now and I ordered flowers for my Aunt's birthday from their website and chose exactly what arrangement I wanted and submitted my order which was over $100. My aunt sent me a photo of the arrangement and it was NOTHING like the flowers I ordered. It had two roses 2 roses, 5 lilies, a few carnations, greenery and filler. It looked like they picked up left over stuff from the floor and threw it in a vase. FOR $100! I will NEVER use them again. The arrangement was embarrassing and was not even worth $30. read more

Passed by this place and something came to mind. I grew up not far from here and recall visiting this place with my mom as a kid. One of my grandmothers favorite things was flowers. I remember biking to Coleman Brothers and picking out flowers to buy for my grandma but being a child not having much money. An older gentleman asked what I needed flowers for and when I explained my situation to him he told me to pick whatever I wanted and he would take what little bit of money I had, so that I could make my grandma happy. Even though I was calling during their business hours, I kept getting a "call back when we are open" recording. After 2 hours, I tried one last time and someone answered. I described what I wanted emphasizing that I wanted purple and white flowers either with a purple vase or bow. The employee assured me that he had my order straight. Today the flowers were delivered on time but there were no purple flowers. The arrangement was attractive but had reds and yellows and one sort of burgundy flower. The vase was sort of a wine color. The reason I called was to specify what I wanted. In the past this has worked well. Not this time. I am so sorry I wasted over 2 hours attempting to reach this business when I could have had better luck with an online business. read more

If you need to send flowers anywhere... USE THEM!!! Coleman Brothers is wonderful. The staff are every attentive to your needs. I call and tell them how much I want to spend and where it is going and they do the rest. Everything that comes out of their shop is perfect. I sent a dish garden to a friend of the family and it was beautiful. If you want to be specific with your order, that's fine too. For my daughter's birthday, I asked them to send her flowers and told them she liked butterflies. The arrangement was in a blue and white bowl with hand painted butterflies on it. In the flowers they had placed butterfiles suspended on wires and there were 2 balloons that also had butterflies. It made my daughter cry. That was 5 years ago and she still has the bowl. I used to use Coleman's exclusively; not anymore. A few years ago, I lost a dear cousin who was almost like a sister to me. Went to Coleman's the day before we were to go out of town for her funeral. Met with someone there, spent almost 30 minutes choosing the flowers and discussing the arrangement. I told them I would be there to pick them up at a certain time the next day. When I arrived at the appointed time, they had not even started on the flowers...it was almost as if they didn't have any idea I'd been there the day before. I had to leave, so I ended up picking out some generic arrangement they had in their refrigerator. I got almost no apology, nor was I offered any kind of discount on the flowers. I realized later that I shouldn't have bought anything from them that day, but I had no time to go to another florist. My husband told me this Valentine's Day that he went there to get me flowers and it was awful, so he got them somewhere else. I reminded him to NEVER give them any business again. It's rare for me to leave a review, but I have to say something about the amazing customer service I received today. A coworker sent me flowers to my old address & they called to get my new one. The driver then called to check to see if anyone would be home since it was below freezing temperatures outside and he didn't want to leave the flowers out in the cold. My company & I WERE very regular Coleman customers. They got lots right for more than 30 years. Now they have FOULED UP 2 significant orders in 2 years. Each time, the SPECIFIC COLORS ordered IN WRITING were either LEFT OUT or REVERSED. This week the order was for a duplication of part of a much bigger wedding order from one year ago. The original wedding order was right. THIS WEEK'S PARTIAL DUPLICATE was LARGELY WRONG. Then the Counter lady insisted it was "exactly as ordered". My company exists for our customers/clients; CUSTOMERS/CLIENTS are why we work. Coleman's seems to have lost that concept about 2 years go. We are looking for a good customer-oriented florist shop in mid-Virginia. read more

Coleman Brothers Florist ruined my special occasion! I had ordered flowers for my girlfriend's birthday to deliver to her job. They did not deliver the flowers directly to her, and she did not receive them on her birthday. Upon contact with the company the next day, they told me that they would not refund ANYTHING due to the fact that they "tried their best to get it to her." I was transferred to the owner, Tim Wilkinson, and he was the rudest person I had talked to all day. I asked for a refund because she had not received her flowers and he told me that he would not refund me anything because they left the flowers at the front desk and it was not their fault they didn't make it to her (btw they left the flowers at the front desk of a hospital with 3000 employees). When I asked again for a refund he laughed and then he hung up on me! I had given them a specific room number and her phone number at work and asked them to only deliver to her and to make sure she got them in hand. Now she has no flowers, and I'm out $50. I called back and asked if they would just refund the delivery fee of $7. They refused. I called back a third time and they cut me off mid-sentence and put me on hold for 15 minutes! Their website states a 100% satisfaction guarantee. When I asked about this, they said "We don't control our website, a third party company does that, so we are not responsible for anything they write on there." Apparently they don't care about your satisfaction as a customer, only your money. What horrible customer service. I used them because I wanted to support a family owned business, and I got worse customer service than standing in line at Wal-mart at 3am. If you value your special occasion at all, then don't use COLEMAN BROTHERS FLORIST. Period. read more
