One of the most valuable skills developed is to overcome stage fright. Ms Lulu encourages students to do self-introductions, modelling/cat-walk, sing, dance, and build overall stage presence. This may sound simple but can actually be quite challenging. Being able to confidently acquire this skill takes a dash of grit and more importantly - the opportunities to practice! Ms Lulu works hard to consistently create these opportunities for students in a wide variety of settings! From one-on-one voice lessons, to formal recitals, to community venues, to municipal events, to modelling at fashion shows, to filming music videos, to singing national anthems and performances at crowded sports stadiums, to highly advertised music events in crowded college campuses. On this occasion, I was invited to the performance of the RANDOM 1s (follow them on Instagram), who played a medley of Classic Rock songs from the 60s and 70s. Not just any popular song, but the music from bands who made a blockbuster hit, but did not continue with more hits or an album. These are referred to as the "One Hit Wonders." Special Guest this evening is radio personality, Shotgun Tom Kelly. He published a book and was the Emcee for the evening. A book signing event was held in the lobby before and after the show. His book is entitled "All I Wanna do is Play the Hits." Five years ago, almost by chance, my son auditioned for a musical at Seed School of the Arts. That…read moreone audition became the beginning of a journey we never expected. It was here that he discovered his love for musical theater, and more importantly, met wonderful teachers and mentors like Mr. C and Principal Tong. Looking back after five years, I can truly say that Seed has played a very important part in his growth. What makes Seed special to me is that musical theater here is not simply taught in a classroom. The children learn by actually creating and performing show after show--rehearsing week after week, working with a cast, taking on different characters, and gradually learning how to sing, act, perform, communicate, and become more confident on stage. Writing this review today, I was actually surprised when I started thinking about how many productions he has already been part of. He began with a very small ensemble role in Desperate Princesses, then moved on to Showdown, a larger supporting role in Fairy Tale Network, and eventually a leading role in Little Shop of Horrors. Last year, with the training and support he received from Seed, he competed at MTCA and won first place nationally in monologue. When I look back at that little boy who walked into his first audition five years ago and compare him with the performer he is today, I feel incredibly grateful. None of these steps happened overnight. They came from years of rehearsals, performances, encouragement, opportunities, and teachers who believed in him and gave him room to grow. I have so many photos and memories from these past five years that it is impossible to share them all here. As a parent, I am simply very thankful that we happened to find Seed when we did. If your child loves singing, dancing, acting, or is simply curious about being on stage, I would highly recommend giving Seed a try. For our family, that first audition opened a door we never imagined, and we will always be grateful for where it has led.

We saw 2 alpacas and 2 pigs only. We needed to pay to feed them which is fine but the amount of food they gave you is insulting. Alpacas didn't even want to eat so we just threw the food at the pigs.

Aside from events like the open house and summer camps for kids, the best way to get acquainted with the Little Parrot Farm is through their affordable tours on Saturdays. While it may be frustrating for some that you can't just go in and see the animals any day, it really is in their best interest that a staff member is there to supervise these interactions. Too many places allow visitors to harass their animals or feed them random stuff that isn't good for them. And if an animal reacts defensively, it can be very difficult and sad to handle the aftermath. It's also amazing just seeing the same animals every time, and not being worried that anyone is going to be taken to slaughter. My favorite friends are Andy the alpaca, the two sweet pigs, and Maya the rescued border collie. I don't know the names of some of the newer pups, but they were all super friendly. They sell T shirts with their most popular residents featured on them that make for great souvenirs to take home. The farm part of the property is also beautiful and abundant. They sell fresh veggies online for pickup that look amazing, but that I haven't had a chance to try yet. Can't wait to come back for the next event!
