I've waited a year to post my review. While I believe that many patients are helped by Dr. Moawad,…read moremy experience has not been stellar. What I do appreciate is that Dr. Moawad was able to give me a diagnosis and put some pieces together for me that multiple providers had not done after 3 years of chronic pelvic pain and horrible periods that still negatively impact my quality of life. My first visit was great, I felt cared for and seen. I do believe that Dr. Moawad cares and has developed his skills and knowledge to help as many women as possible. My endo was advanced when it was caught, which may be why I'm still having significant impacts from it a year after surgery. I knew that one surgery would not fix all of the things, but I did expect that my quality of life would improve. That has not been the case thus far. The surgery coordinator said to me, when she was trying to get me to commit to the payment, that my life would change. So far the only real change is that I have increased my debt in order to pay for the surgery. Three things that I wish had been different in my experience: 1. More thorough education about endo and adenomyosis, which I also have. I was given the option to have laparoscopic surgery to include a hysterectomy or not. I chose to keep my uterus, as I was not emotionally ready to have that procedure. If there had been clearer information about the adenomyosis part, I may have made a different decision. My periods have gotten worse after surgery, and I am incapacitated for 2-3 days each month. I also still have the chronic pelvic pain (from pudendal neuralgia) which has only moderately improved after surgery. 2. Customer service. When the initial consult fee is close to $1000 and the surgery is out of network (costing thousands of dollars) I expect a very high level of customer service. This was not my experience. I felt like a paycheck to the admin staff and surgery coordinator. Multiple times I emailed into the office with questions and after 3 days or so, would ping them again. In my experience of over 20 years in the professional world, the general expectation is a 24 hour time window for answers and communication. I realize that the answer to a question may take longer depending on the doctor's schedule or billing service, but I do expect a response to acknowledge my request and give an ETA on an answer. I would suggest that the office staff need some training on customer service at a high level. 3. After care. I experienced new and different pain after my surgery and reached out to Dr. Moawad's office for support. I was referred to a pain specialist whom I met with twice and he did not have helpful recommendations. On my own, I found a practice that does pelvic rehabilitation medicine and have engaged with them. They informed me that they have a relationship with Dr. Moawad and I wish that he had referred me to them when I had continued pelvic pain after surgery and to this day. Endometriosis is a horrible disease that affects millions of women. I'm glad there is expertise, I just wish I felt better a year after surgery.

Since my first appointment with Dr Moawad, I felt heard and validated. Not only is he very skilled but also very caring and compassionate. He asked a lot of questions, did a pelvic exam and predicted I had Endometriosis. He then requested an MRI (which confirmed the endo), and we scheduled the surgery. The surgery went really well and my recovery was not bad at all. It felt great knowing that he removed all my endometriosis and my symptoms are significantly better since then. Thank you Dr Moawad and the CEAPS team for such a seamless experience. Getting surgery can be overwhelming but your care and compassion made it a lot easier! I can't recommend the CEAPS team enough.

When I had a billing issue and one less-than-positive interaction with another provider, what stood out most was how the practice responded. One of the senior physicians personally called me to apologize, discuss solutions, and spoke with me on a human level about what I had gone through. That level of compassion, accountability, and care speaks volumes.

I've never gone back to the same one twice. Couple that with the fear of medical biases and it's been an awful time finding someone I could trust. I was pretty new to the area having moved from the west coast, and saw multiple black women recommend Dr. Jo'Ann Jackson on Tik Tok, and decided to try out her services. Unfortunately, the closest office would be all the way in Washington DC. However, I would deal with that commute if the service was that satisfactory. Unfortunately, for me she was booked three months out so I decided to wait. Come the day of the appt I check to see that it's a little over an hour commute. Surprising as it would have been about 40 minutes. I jumped in my car and rushed over. I even called the office to give them a heads up and they told me about the 15 min grace period. I rarely travel to DC so I only had one shot to get lost finding the building and finding parking. It was tough since the building is pretty obscure. I get there with about 5 minutes to go before I hit the 15 minute grace period and the only access to the office is by elevator. An elevator that was under construction thus suffered from a delay in arrival. I tried to call the office to let them know that I was still waiting for the elevator to arrive in the lobby, but the reception in the building is terrible. Luckily, I land in their office's lobby right at the 15 minute mark and there's no one at the desk. I wait a minute or two, before calling out to anyone who would hear me and still nothing. I even called the office so someone could be drawn to the desk. Another minute or two comes by before someone greets me. I check in, and all seems to be well until they call me back up and says that I'm late for my appt and Dr. Jackson won't see me. I'm on the verge of tears at this point. I practically beg them to ask the doctor to see me, and that I was even willing to cut my appt time down as the penalty, but the person at the desk just kept shaking her head saying I'm sorry she won't see you. I told her how I waited three months for this appt and traveled for over an hour, and she can't even get up or pick up a phone to ask?? That's real crappy especially (which I didn't know at the time) since I would have to have paid full price to park in their overpriced garage. To this person's credit she found a solution for me and said that there was one person available that was taking new patients and I could be seen right away. In tears and not wanting to have wasted my time I agreed even though I knew Dr. Jackson was the only black female OBGYN at the practice. After all of that I do consider myself lucky to be Tiffany Leray's patient. She treated me with kindness, listened to all of my concerns regarding my painful periods and disinterest in starting birth control. She laid out all of my options, and ultimately scheduled me for an ultrasound to explore endometriosis. She was also really skilled at doing the pap smear which tends to be VERY painful for me. Between this appt and the next one I had a medical emergency during my menstrual period which landed me in the ER in Colorado and I was given ultrasounds there which confirmed the presence of a cyst or endometrioma which was once again confirmed by the ultrasound tech at Reiter, Hill, and Johnson. Tiffany once again recommended that I try going on birth control because my system needed a break from bleeding, and while she would be down to prescribe me the brand that I vetted I still didn't end up doing it. Then what I really appreciated the most was that she recommended that I speak to a couple of Endometriosis specialists / surgeons because that wasn't her area of expertise even though she 99% suspected that I had it. I've since read stories about careless OBGYNs and the like who pretend to know what they're doing or downplay the pain of their patients. I've since had a successful laproscopy and excision of stage 4 endo lesions. Thank you Tiffany for providing me with great care and guidance. I know I'm one of the lucky ones in that aspect. The number of low rated reviews at all of the RHJ locations and my own initial welcome deters me from returning, although if worse comes to worse I will go back to Tiffany at the Chevy Chase location. I certainly will not be returning to the DC location because it is egregious for patients to have to pay $18/$19 to park. For my second appt I left with plenty of time to spare and ended up parking in a neighborhood at a meter and walked about a mile to the office.

From the other reviews, it seems like if you're planning an abortion, are press for time, or may have a high risk pregnancy ... you'll not have a good experience here. But for me, it was pretty decent. My pregnancy was for spontaneous natural di/di twins so essentially I was sort of high risk. I ended up having more ultrasounds than the singleton pregnancy schedule. A couple of my ultrasound appointments weren't properly communicated so I ended up having to either wait a little longer or come in another day for the ultrasound. A little annoying but I stayed positive for the babies. In the end, everything worked out well but it was pretty consistent for appointments to start late. During my months coming in here, I saw the five doctors that share their patients. These are doctors Davis-Wilensky, Greene (before she switched out of the five), Messinger, Bren, Lightfoote, and Abraham. The one who ended up delivering our twins was Dr. Abraham and she was phenomenal. Because of my complication, I had to stay in Sibley a few days through the thanksgiving holiday and the doc on call was Dr. Beckerman and he was also great. I can see why others would not like the Foxhall practice and some of their doctors based on the reviews I've read but I've been fortunate and blessed to have a much better experience for my pregnancy. During annual examinations and pap smears he has a nurse in the room, explains everything step by step before and while he is doing it in a very calm, reassuring and soothing tone. He doesn't go quiet, he is talking to you while examining you and he's thorough but quick. He tells you it is going to pinch but it is over before you know it. After the examination he leaves so you can dress and then he knocks and comes back in and talks to you to see if you might have any other medical issues that need addressing. He was so helpful when I developed breast cancer, needed a double mastectomy and didn't know who to turn to. He immediately recommended a couple of excellent surgeons and I chose one. Did he let it go at that? Dr. Blank checked in and messaged me to make sure I was ok during that hard year. I was gobsmacked and really felt he cared. And, yes, thanks, I'm doing great now. You feel his empathy and caring. His nurse Luce is lovely, and as kind and gentle as he is. She was warm and professional too. And the ladies at the front desk and those who schedule my appointments were kind and helpful. He hires great people and it makes such a difference!
