My review is more for NEW PATIENTS - As of April 1, 2026 anyone who makes an appointment will be charged an annual fee of $150 that has nothing to do with the insurance coverage, deductibles or copays already paid by patients, and what they earn from the insurance. They are arguing that this fee is necessary to improve services and technology, etc., which, from my perspective, should not be at the expense of patients, but a responsibility of the business owners and stakeholders who want to be in the health care system and should have a sound investment and business strategy plan instead of having clients paying for the business they want to have. Unless, they are on purpose creating a membership-like model to access OBGYN health care, to appeal to a very specific clientele, in which case, they should be transparent about it, instead of imposing such a fee under the disguise of betterment of their services, and inadvertently, rendering the services possibly discriminatory and less accessible to some extent. Either management did not put a lot of thought on this, or they did, and simply did not care. In addition, there seem to be a lot of turnover, and their licensed providers (who for the most part and in fairness, are pretty easy going), have significantly decreased from when I started going years ago. Only at the beginning I had a consistent provider but that has changed in the past 2 to 3, when I can be seen by whoever is available. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Depending on who you talk to whether in billing, front desk, checkout, you may also be faced with somewhat condescending approach, but I am not sure if that is due to unprofessionalism of some of the staff, or if it is a symptom of how they are treated by business management, and they are just simply burned out, with clients and patients ending up as unintended collateral damage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Given the decline of services, providers and quality of customer service over the years, I had been considering switching practice already, but this imposition just did it for me. I rather pay more in insurance, deductible and co-pay for better services altogether, than make my health care dependable on whether I am willing to pay for what seems to be an annual membership fee, which at the end, will not guarantee better care, because it is a matter of integrity and not profitability. In my opinion, it is problematic that for a health care and medical practice the quality of services is contingent upon increasing or imposing additional costs to the patients, instead of making it a stakeholders investment and accountability. read more

I heard about Foxhall OB/GYN through my primary care physician's recommendation list. When I looked them up on Yelp, I was turned off by the poor reviews. But because I wanted to deliver at Sibley, I ended up coming here anyway. From the other reviews, it seems like if you're planning an abortion, are press for time, or may have a high risk pregnancy ... you'll not have a good experience here. But for me, it was pretty decent. My pregnancy was for spontaneous natural di/di twins so essentially I was sort of high risk. I ended up having more ultrasounds than the singleton pregnancy schedule. A couple of my ultrasound appointments weren't properly communicated so I ended up having to either wait a little longer or come in another day for the ultrasound. A little annoying but I stayed positive for the babies. In the end, everything worked out well but it was pretty consistent for appointments to start late. During my months coming in here, I saw the five doctors that share their patients. These are doctors Davis-Wilensky, Greene (before she switched out of the five), Messinger, Bren, Lightfoote, and Abraham. The one who ended up delivering our twins was Dr. Abraham and she was phenomenal. Because of my complication, I had to stay in Sibley a few days through the thanksgiving holiday and the doc on call was Dr. Beckerman and he was also great. I can see why others would not like the Foxhall practice and some of their doctors based on the reviews I've read but I've been fortunate and blessed to have a much better experience for my pregnancy. This review is coming from a guy perspective and appointment feedback from my partner. Honestly, I typically only yelp restaurants but after a recent sonogram ..... I felt it was my duty to put the information out there. I was referred to this place by a friend and we wanted to deliver our baby in D.C. and Sibley Memorial Hospital is the best option. I know COVID-19 brought new circumstances (so I'm pretty lenient), but I will start out with: The "Pro's" .... 1) This place is located in Sibley Memorial Hospital; which is in the high end NW DC area. The building and surroundings are very clean. This hospital is also pretty easy to get to (minus the traffic). 2) We were able to get a appointment with a African American OBGYN, (Dr Lightfoote) which are hard to find in this area. 3) Foxhall also has a waiting area for "non patients" and WiFi. 4) The receptionist are always nice and usually pretty informative/helpful. The "Cons" .... 1) The folder with "everything you needed know" at the beginning is nice, but it would be helpful if you had a nurse walk through everything, as it can be overwhelming on a 1st time visit 2) some of the Dr's obviously didn't read my partners charts PRIOR to the appointment. Often times it felt like a getting to know you the 1st 15 min of each appointment. 3) *This one annoyed me the most* .... The sonogram technician took some shitty sonogram pictures. As a male who is not allowed in the room during visits (due to Covid) you would think they would get some better shots (see pic). Also technician attitudes seem very dismissive, while asking questions. 4) Parking is expensive. Parking tickets should be validated for patients. These Dr's get enough insurance money to cover that cost. Sibley Memorial Hospital is good because you can see multiple Dr's in one building. Foxhall is good but could use some general feedback to make some minor improvements. Hope this helps! read more

Foxhall OBGYN Associates - What the hell kind sonogram is this for a patient that's 8.5 months pregnant (lazy) ..... - Obstetricians & Gynecologists Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! A few years ago, I had an IUD inserted at Foxhall. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Before my appointment, I asked my doctor what to expect -- would it be painful? Should I take painkillers? Could I drive myself? She assured me that I would only feel "a little pinch and then some pressure" -- no painkillers needed, and I could absolutely drive myself![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When the day of the appointment rolled around, the doctors and nurses repeated that I would only feel "a little pinch".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They did not inform me that an IUD insertion involves piercing the cervix, and that the CDC guidelines SINCE 2016 (well before I had this experience) have recommended a lidocaine injection to numb the cervix, so no lidocaine for me! During the procedure, they kept saying, "little pinch! Little pinch! Now some pressure! It's just a little bit of pressure!" while stabbing my internal organ, and let me tell you, I was crying. Now, I'm not a crier. I didn't cry when I sprained my ankle and tore completely through my ligament. I didn't cry when I skied face-first into a tree and my lower incisor went through my upper lip. I cried when they inserted this IUD. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The cramps afterward, which Foxhall DID NOT WARN ME ABOUT, were even worse.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I hobbled out of the office, doubled over in pain, I saw the staff trying not to laugh[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Then, I sat in my car for about half an hour, curled up in a ball and sobbing in agony from the cramps. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Foxhall had assured me that I would be perfectly fine to drive myself, and my parking meter was running out of time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My house was only a ten minute drive away, so I eventually rallied enough to drive out, still wracked with debilitating cramps and hunched over in pain. On my way home, I was hit by the worst cramp I had EVER had, causing me to double over in pain and SIDESWIPE ANOTHER CAR. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If Foxhall had given me an OUNCE of information about this procedure, or warned me to have painkillers on hand for afterward, or even just told me to have someone else drive me, none of that would have happened.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tl;dr: Foxhall inserted an IUD without painkillers, going against the CDC recommendation, and told me I could easily drive myself to and from the procedure, which resulted in me getting into a car accident on the way home due to the overwhelming pain. Let me start this off by saying Dr. Abraham is the best. She is kind and gentle and knows exactly what she's doing, which is why when my IUD expired, I wanted to go back and have her take care of it. I am currently out of state for school and decided to schedule an appointment during my school's winter break. I tried scheduling the appointment starting in September. In total, I have tried to contact them about 8 times, in various ways such as calling them and their patient portal. No response. They finally picked up the phone in early December and were incredibly rude. I was told there were no appointments and got hung up on. I asked to be called if there were cancellations and they said they couldn't do that. My IUD is set to expire soon and I'm terrified to find another gynecologist as good as Dr. Abraham, but I cant afford to fly out here again so it looks like I'll have to. read more

DO NOT COME HERE because of Foxhall's (1) terrible front office management, (2) how difficult it was to make an appointment, and (3) lack of care and attention by its physicians. Foxhall, as a practice, came highly recommended to me from my friends and colleagues. My best guess is that the practice was top notch, but due to staffing changes/departures and front office management, it is no longer that practice. I switched to Foxhall because my OBGYN was in Baltimore and I lived in DC. It took me multiple calls to the practice to even get them to accept me as a new patient when I was a pregnant (they refused to accept me as a new patient when I was not). Once I scheduled my first appointment, my appointment was cancelled without any notice (calls, emails, texts) to me because the practice decided that the snow that day was enough for them to close their entire office. The practice posted on its website that all appointments were closed, but I had unfortunately not seen the notice before I drove to the appointment. Without seeing me, the practice refused to allow me to get any tests done (NTS, NIPT) and would not reschedule my appointment. I spent 2 hours calling the practice multiple times on Monday before reaching a person (their telephone system keeps you on hold, and then hangs up on you), and even then, the front office could not slot me into see a physician for 4 weeks. At that time, it would be too late for me to get a NTS. I kept being told they could not see me because one of their physicians was unexpectedly called out and they had a hard time rescheduling appointments. If they did not have the capacity to take on a new patient, they should have said so before signing me on as a new patient. When I asked to speak to a physician to understand the 4 week delay, no one ever called me back. This OBGYN experience has made me unnecessarily anxious, uncomfortable, and terrified. All of this could have been avoided with some care and attention from the practice, but this practice does not even do the bare minimum for its patients. In conclusion, go to any other OBGYN office. I will never recommend anyone come here. read more

I do NOT recommend Foxhall for anything. On 10/23/2024, when I'm almost 23 weeks pregnant, I get an email saying that they are shutting down their OB practice so everyone who is currently seeing an OB who has a due date after 01/20/2025 needs to find a new OB immediately. This is after I changed insurance earlier this month just so I would be in-network with them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Apparently at that time, the partners had already made this decision but failed to inform their staff or patients.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As they didn't have the decency to provide adequate notice to their patients, now we are all scrambling to find a replacement OB. I went into early labor at 32 weeks with my twins while a patient with this practice. When I called for advice experiencing spotting and cramps, the triage nurse first told me they would not advise going into the hospital unless I "filled an entire pad with blood." I waited ten minutes before calling back because this advice did not sit well with me, especially given I was having twins and had history of cervix issues, I was then told to go into Georgetown Hospital because they have a higher NICU level. Foxhall doctors don't deliver at Georgetown so I had to see a whole new team of doctors and explain my medical history etc. thankfully the Georgetown team was incredible. After this call to Foxhall, no one bothered to call me to see if I was admitted, if I was in labor/delivered the babies, or eventually how I or my babies were doing. I ended up sending an email in the patient portal to the doctor I saw throughout my pregnancy about 48 hours later after my initial call to confirm I delivered my twins. I didn't hear from her or anyone else at the practice for an additional almost 48 hours later when she finally called. I shifted post partum check up to a Georgetown OB and will not give this practice my business or trust them with care. read more

Dr. Green is amazing and I love that the practice is attached to Sibley Hospital. The staff is nice despite some of these reviews just be extra kind to them. I'm sure dealing with a lot of hormonal pregnant women all day can be a bit stressful. I've never had any issues and find the office to be clean and very nice. read more

Foxhall may have been well-regarded in the past, but it's now a highly dysfunctional and mismanaged practice. There have been multiple departures this year (along with two doctors out on leave) and management has done an abysmal job filling the gap and communicating with patients. Go to another practice that has admitting privileges at Sibley. read more

While there are a couple of fantastic providers here (shout out to Dr. Bren and most of the nurses), they could do a lot to improve the patient experience. The practice has grown so much that you almost always feel like rotating cattle... in and out and to the next woman. They are ALWAYS running behind and it's impossible to reschedule a future appointment when things come up - they will tell you there are no other openings for weeks, even during pregnancy. A lot of people are running here because they are associated with Sibley (fantastic maternity wing) but I wish they would limit the number of patients they're accepting or make other efforts to offer a more personal touch to care. read more

If you're a first time mom, don't expect special treatment. I had never felt like "just a number" at a medical practice until my experience here. It was clear that they were rotating women in and out of the office, and while that's true for most practices, this is the first one where I actually *felt* it. Overall, my experience was not positive (other than the sweet moments I was able to see my baby via ultrasound). I did not feel valued or heard, staff at the front was not polite, and, in one instance, I received sensitive information from my provider via voicemail (when it should have been a conversation) without the ability to reach her the next day. The person responsible for answering voicemails, not a healthcare professional, even tried explaining the results to me as if she understood them and could give me medical advice. I found out later from a genetic counselor that the information she had given me had been incorrect. The whole thing was a bit of a mess. When I did finally explain how I was feeling to my provider about the results and her method of delivering them to a new mom that 1) doesn't know what any of this means and 2) was unable to reach her to ask questions - her response was, "well, now I know not to leave you voicemails." When I tried to leave the practice, they would not transfer my medical records directly to my new practice. First, I had to call several times to even get to someone that could help me transfer my records because I kept getting routed to voicemail when I called the medical records extension. Second, they apparently don't fax records to other doctors/practices, they give you all of your records directly on either a CD, via personal fax or on a USB (all of which you have to pay for). It typically takes about a week for them to get their tech person to upload your records to a USB, which was delaying me from getting care elsewhere. I'm happily at a new practice and having a much better experience. Don't doubt yourself, if you don't have a good feeling about this place, there are better ones out there! read more

I chose Foxhall because I wanted a smaller practice and to deliver at Sibley. At 24 weeks I am switching practices and hospitals because of my experience here. I have rotated between doctors each visit and overall they seem fine. What is causing me to switch practices is the phone consult/triage service. I have had two bad experiences - the first time I felt like my concerns were not being taken seriously but wrote it off as maybe me not being clear enough or being too emotional. However about two weeks ago I got a bad stomach virus and called the office to see what I should do. My information was inaccurately recorded and relayed to a physician, so when I received a call back (not from the physician) I had to ask them to go back and clarify. They said they would call back within the hour, after initially telling me to go straight to the ER. Days passed and I never received a call back. At some point I just decided to seek guidance elsewhere and gave up. For me, I need to be able to count on and trust my practice when things are not going as planned. It was clear from these experiences that Foxhall was not the right practice for me. read more

Poor experience. Visited two days ago. Nurses were arguing with front desk ladies in front of patients. They all seemed to have bad attitudes this day. Then my nurse who was one of the ladies arguing (I was there to see Dr. Abraham), walked me to the restroom for a urine sample and there was fecal matter all over the toilet. She just put the toilet seat down and said "well that's nasty" and told me to use it. I've never been so disgusted. I won't be returning. read more

I have been annoyed at ALL of the visits I had here the last 3 months of 2018 and now my interactions in 2019. My First Visit-long wait Visit 2-I had to wait FOREVER (again) to have my blood drawn. I sent a message on patient portal 6 days prior to this appointment and was told to call the office to speak with Mahal. She never returned my call therefore my question regarding other tests were NOT answered. I was slighted. Visit 3-I sign inane I'm waiting (FOREVER AGAIN) over 45 minutes; the receptionist NEVER checked me in. Therefore the sonogram lady thinks I'm late and wasn't very pleasant because she thought I just strolled in almost an hour late. A nurse gets an attitude with me when I ask for help with the urine collection box during the same visit. 2019- 2 days ago I send a message in the patient portal about my records and they don't respond. Today, I receive a bill for $300 with no medical service associated with it. How are you billing people with NO explanation? My thoughts are it's a late fee cause she forgot to process me when I arrived and had the whole office thinking I was a no show. I avoid writing negative reviews because I prefer focusing on the positive but it just doesn't get better here and people should know. I definitely feel slighted, overlooked every time and just unimportant at this office. read more

I absolutely love this practice and would highly recommend to anyone. I had my first child with Foxhall and rotated through everyone and thought all the doctors were fantastic. I looked through the other reviews on here and the poor reviews seems to mostly come from disorganization at the front desk and back office. Definitely experienced some of that and sure there were hiccups here and there and I experienced some frustrations and annoyances, but the most important thing is that the medical care is top notch, I was always able to get ahold of people when it really truly mattered, and the doctors are so nice and supportive. Also shoutout to Mimi at the front desk who is a gem. Don't let the negative reviews dissuade you from coming here. I've been to so many different practices and everyone has their issues -- but when it comes to what I think really matters in a medical practice, Foxhall is amazing. read more

I am a longtime patient of the Foxhall OBGYN practice, but as of today, I am no longer their patient. While I have never questioned the quality of their medical team, I strongly recommend against using this practice. First, I was asked to bring my OBGYN records to an appointment at Johns Hopkins for a comprehensive physical exam. Several weeks ago (and well prior to my JHU appointment) I called Foxhall OBGYN to secure the needed medical records. When I called, I was transferred to the voice mail for the person that runs their medical records office. I left a detailed message, but never received a call back. A couple of weeks later, I contacted the office again and left another detailed message. No response. This happened two more times over the space of a couple more weeks. Finally, I showed up at the office a week ago, taking time out of my busy work day to try to secure my medical records. I was told by the front desk staff that I must fill out a form to receive my records - which I did on the spot. The front desk team said someone from the records office would call me back. That never happened. Because I have to take these records to the JHU appointment next week, I returned to the office AGAIN today in person. The individual who runs the records office flatly challenged my assertion that I had left 5 separate voice mail messages and said she would "look into" the "communications issue," using air quotes. She also told me their practice requires 30 days lead time for satisfying records requests - which is itself inexplicable. I explained that my first of 5 voice mail messages was left well more than a month ago, and that I then had to show up twice in-person because no one bothered to call me back - EVER. I then asked to speak with the practice manager, Kim Cirelli, who likewise questioned my assertion that I had tried repeatedly to contact their office by phone. After an additional wait, I was finally able to leave their office with a thumb drive containing my medical records. To add insult to injury, the office actually charged me $75.00 for the records -- even knowing that I was forced to show up twice in person to secure my own medical records after their repeated failures to return calls. The worst part? This latest episode comes on the heels of a letter I received from Foxhall OBGYN last year explaining that a former senior medical doctor from their practice had taken FOXHALL OBGYN patient information (including my own) to her new job at a women's health product company for marketing purposes -- in flagrant violation of the law and all ethical codes. In addition, this particular doctor is married to a former senior cabinet official and top law enforcement officer for the U.S. Needless to say, she knew better. These lapses are beyond the pale, and I feel obligated to let others know about the failures of this practice. read more

Awful experience. Do not use them if you are pregnant. I have been a patient with this practice for 15 years. When I found out I was pregnant I called them and they told me they were fully booked for the next 2 months. I told them I really think I need to be seen sooner than that and they didn't care. I called every day to see if there were cancellations and finally got in to see a doctor. Then when I went to schedule time sensitive sonograms I was told that they were fully booked for the next 3 weeks and could not accommodate. They treated my high-risk pregnancy like it was not important to them. The doctor also never returned my multiple emails so I would have to call. Finally at a friend's suggestion I went to Georgetown and they treated my pregnancy like it was actually something important and got me scheduled for all my necessary sonograms and testing with no issue for their schedule. So disappointed with Fox Hall. I am no longer a patient there. read more

I had a great pregnancy and delivery experience with Foxhall and would confidently recommend them. My Doctor was Dr. Abraham but I saw several doctors in the practice and had a uniformly positive experience. I would particularly recommend Drs. Abraham, Davis, and Messenger. Dr. Davis delivered my daughter - she was efficient, confident, and no nonsense, which I appreciated. My delivery and the days leading up had a couple of small hiccups, which I felt the Foxhall team handled very well. They walked the right line between providing detailed professional advice and opinions, and not pressuring me towards a particular decision. The office itself is very nice, short wait times, professional and responsive scheduling staff. read more

Unfortunately, the admin here is extremely unprofessional. I've had several incidents of either lost paperwork, appointment mix ups or other inexcusable events. The latest incident I showed up to the office on time for my appointment and their system was down so they were canceling all appointments but had not informed any of the patients. I've been going here for 5 years, and although they dropped my insurance. I was still willing to pay out of pocket. I love Dr. Green and most of the doctors at the practice are okay. But two major issues have made me decided to find another OBGYN. #1 wait times are ridiculous and #2 Administration is HORRIBLE. Just last week I went in to confirm my pregnancy ( rainbow baby), and as I was checking out they older lady that does billing was so RUDE. She turned my whole experience sour. She was even short and rude with the patient before me. I wish I would have gotten her name, because this is the second time if seen her behave unprofessional and rude. Its was like I was bothering her or she answered me like I had stupid written across my face. read more

I have been going to this practice for close to 40 years. Originally it was Titus, Mckelway and Heintze. All fabulous doctors with lovely bedside manners. Then the sweet and very knowledgeable Dr. Jerome joined the practice and she became my primary doctor. THOSE where the days. When she no longer accepted my insurance, I tried various other doctors at the practice. I had just settled in with Dr. Stany and she left. The other doctors that I want to I did not care for at all: Dr. Lightfoote very cold, Dr. Abraham very inexperienced (or at least that's the impression I got). And the front desk and phone receptionists: HORRIBLE. As other reviewer's here have stated, they are cold, disinterested and down right rude. They act as if they are doing you a favor by doing their job. Totally unacceptable and I cannot understand why this practice allows them to get away with such bad behavior. I also got charged $25 for the CD for my medical records which, with two weeks notice, I still hadn't received and I had to go up to the office to pick up another one but they did not waive the fee. It makes me really sad that after such a long time at this practice they have gone so downhill. So long Foxhall OB/GYN I just found me a new excellent doctor and closer and more convenient to home. read more

It has taken me over a year to write this review because my experience with Foxhall OB/GYN felt so distressing as a pregnant person. In the early weeks of my pregnancy, I felt so-so about bedside manner of the OB I was seeing and didn't feel super comfortable asking questions, but I figured that's somewhat normal unfortunately. The first issue was when my blood draw at the 12 week appt was lost and nobody realized until I called a week later, having waited with bated breath for genetic testing results. Woops! "Come back in right away, we never sent it out." Came back in, losing a week to learn early results. When they got the results, turned out I was a carrier for a potentially very severe genetic disorder. My husband got tested, after which I got a call indicating he TOO was a carrier. You can imagine our devastation. For nearly 5 days until we could see the MFM we were worried we would lose our baby. When we saw the MFM at Sibley, they informed us we were both carriers for a much less severe variant of the disorder - something our OB at Foxhall FAILED to mention. Keep in mind I hadn't slept for over 4 nights at that point. At my 20 week appointment, another issue was discovered via the sonogram (which I had to fight tooth and nail for Foxhall to categorize as medically necessary). As I was sobbing in line waiting to pay my bill, the staffer at the desk didn't even ask how I was doing - they just said "I need your credit card." It was awful. I have been to several OBGYN's over the past few years and Dr. Lightfoote with Foxhall is the best I've ever had. The wait time to go back to see the doctor was short and the wait time for her to come into the room was even shorter. She was very open and honest with me about my health concerns and really took the time out to explain EVERYTHING. It was an amazing experience and although it was my first visit, I would recommend her over and over again. read more

I've been going to this practice since 1995. My Mom, Aunt, and sister also go to them. They delivered both of my kids and I truly trust them. You can go to any of the doctors in this practice and be in GREAT hands. Their office staff are amazing as well. They all take great care of their patients. I see Dr. Lynne Lightfoote. She is every bit of a Gem. Very educated and so warm she will make you feel like a close friend. She is also very frank and will help you to understand your options and encourage you to take great care of yourself always. I was bummed when she was unable to deliver my baby due to my baby coming before our scheduled date. But, Dr. Abraham took very great care of us. She was quick to respond to complications and as a result delivered our healthy baby via a cesarean. To say the least everyone was complimenting my incision like it was art. Today, it is really hard to see as if it never happened. She performed my surgery while 8 1/2 months pregnant and had been on call for 24 hours. Foxhall is the best I could say a million great things about Dr. Messinger too! They are A class and I couldn't be happier to have their medical support. read more

Person in charge of doing orders is incredibly rude. Health care should be holistic. There is no reason to treat anyone unkindly. Really disappointing. Staff needs to be better trained and understand that they are also part of patient care. read more

I recently moved to the DC/Metro Area, so I needed to find a reliable, friendly OB/GYN during my stay here. If you were like me, you were a bit disappointed at the lack of Yelp reviews re: doctors, dentists, etc. compared with cities like SF that Yelp like no one's business. There just aren't that many people talking about their medical experiences, probably for good reason. We have other good resources like the Washingtonian's Best of for health/medicine. However, that wasn't going to help me decide between the hundreds of different doctors in the area any better, so I would have preferred a review on Yelp. In any case, while Foxhall is a bit of a trek for me, it's a clean and surprisingly large facility. The support staff here was really friendly and helpful while I was there, although I went first thing in the morning so who knows how it gets later in the afternoon. The nurse that helped me was very friendly and talkative, but she also knew her business. The waiting room was surprisingly busy for a Thursday morning, so that may be a sign that people like this place. I certainly enjoyed the visit. I went to see Dr. Andrew Engel and found him to be a very nice man. He's quite smart, and he's got a dry sense of humor. Since we both know that a trip to the gyno isn't exactly a long drawn-out affair so much as a wham-bam (I mean, he doesn't even need to wine and dine me!), he was polite and respectful about the procedure. Be aware though! He wasn't the friendliest guy you'll ever meet--he was almost too professional and not comforting enough for me. However, I'm not like a lot of women in that while I don't love the exam, I don't really get too nervous about it. He was very quick and professional during the exam and within 7 minutes I was on my way to the next procedure. If you prefer your doctor to wine/dine you, I wouldn't recommend Dr. Engel, but he was very efficient and polite about what could be a pretty uncomfortable exam. read more

3.5 stars for Dr. Heintze and his practice, Foxhall OB-GYN. First, I'll start with the practice itself. They have a lot of doctors here, so the office is always bustling with pregnant women and nurses. In some ways, it's good that it's a popular place and that they take a variety of insurance carriers, and as we all know, sometimes that can be a bad thing if the office gets too busy or it's hard to schedule appts. So, I've found that getting help from the desk staff can be very, shall we say, "quick paced". Yet overall, they are efficient and accommodating, even if a little brusque at times. I overslept an appointment once, and they were able to take me later that morning on short notice. As for Dr. Heintze, he too is efficient and accommodating, even if a little brusque at times. During my first visit, he did a consultation in his office, which I know should be the norm, but not all GYNs do. He's timely about calling back with results. I think at first he came off to me as brusque, but after I came back a 2nd time, I got a more favorable, kinder impression. I think with this doctor, you definitely have to be more pro-active and bring up any questions you want answered, since he may not necessarily bring up the subject for you. However, he will take the time to answer your questions once you initiate the conversation. read more

Let me start with the minus 1 star... Wait time is crazy. But so is just about any other medical office I've been into. Total time it takes me to get checked in, vitals taken, undressed, and shaking the doctors hand is about 30 minutes *sigh*. Now the 4 plus stars... My second visit to see Dr. Lighfoot and she's wonderful. She's personable and has the second best bedside manner I've ever experienced with a doctor (first is another doctor that used to be at Walter Reed- but that's neither here nor there lol). She doesn't hesitate to explain or address any questions I may have. I have only seen her for gyn services and not the obstetrics part. I definitely recommend. read more
