Colin roofing is awesome. They replaced our composite shingle roof two months ago and I am very happy with the final product. We got five quotes and Colin's was the lowest. I almost didn't go with them since low sometimes means cutting corners, however, I couldn't ignore all the great reviews they had. I am glad I did because they were easy to work with, hard working, cleaned my property daily, and were complete in one week. We contacted Colin Roofing on Monday afternoon as we went into escrow on a new house and needed to get a roof inspection done on a short notice. Within 5 minutes, Reno responded to my yelp message with a quote (which is what I had asked for). I was quite amazed by the fast response, I waited to hear from some other places I have contacted. Most of them were either busy, didn't do inspections, or just did not get back to me. I contacted Reno back, and we set up the inspection for Wednesday noon. As a retired painting contractor, I am admittedly a pretty tough customer. My patio had previously been roofed previously by a local "handyman," and leaked like a sieve. I had the handyman come out and remove the half-assed job he had done after the first rain, so it was sitting without a roof. Normally, I never would have hired a handyman for a job that required this level of skill, but this guy had good references and I was in a hurry. Penny wise and pound foolish, but I should have known better. Juan and his crew weren't the lowest bid, but I've learned the hard way not to choose a contractor based on price. He returned my call promptly, came out and gave me an estimate that weekend, and made arrangements to set a day the following week. When the weather predicted rain, Juan called me and said he could come out and put the roof on my patio the following day in order to prevent damage to the patio cover and items on the patio. They were fast, polite, knew their trade, and left the workspace clean. When I got home, I noticed that a portion of the vinyl gutters had been melted in the torch-down process. I called Juan about it, and he didn't argue or offer excuses. He came out with his crew the next day and replaced the damaged gutter at no cost to me. Since moving to the Antelope Valley, I've found it nearly impossible to find skilled, reliable tradespeople. If they are licensed and insured, it's a miracle. I have to say that Juan and his crew were not only a pleasure to work with, but they stand behind their work and the job was done properly. I contacted them after seeing a great review at yelp to fix some leak on my roof. They called me back and said that looking at my roof through google map they need to replace the entire section where the leak is. This is not the right way of fixing a leak in my opinion. You need to look for it and not just tear the whole thing. I don't know if they are busy or just lazy to go to my house. read more

JC is honest, reliable and thorough. He identified the problem area in our roof that was causing a leak, showed me what he found and gave a reasonable estimate to repair the damaged area. In addition he found another area on the roof that had a leak and offered to fix it at a reduced rate since he was already going to be on the property doing repairs anyways. There has been rain since he completed the work and no leaks! The quotes I received from several other contractors were more than his estimate and none of the other companies were willing to guarantee their work, JC provide a guarantee for the work he performed. I would absolutely use his services again however I have the feeling that he did such a good job the first time that further work is not likely needed for some time... so the least I can do is encourage to call JC for an estimate. read more

I'm finishing this review after about 2 years with the new roofing underlayement for reused S tiles. The house had an old tile roof built in 1983. I had a quote from another roofer which wanted about $5K more to replace the tiles. My quote with Colin was less with no tile replacement, just reuse old concrete s tiles. The quality of roofing underlayment material was excellent. The roof has had NO LEAKs after our HUGE storms in winter this year. I have a few small items that could have been done better. 1. Cleaning the landscape around was performed at an 80% grade. 2. Would have liked him to recommend replacing the roof vents and cost as an option. Looking back I would like to have had option replaced upon pricing review. 3. Roof job is awesome and only missing one tile bird flashing. Reason for the bump in stars is cost of roof otherwise I would give him 5 stars. Is Colin the lowest price roofer? Probably not, but his quality on the roof is excellent. I have not had to call him for warranty items, and I will update if one day i have a leak which probably will not happen. Would I recommend him to others; Id say yes.. After doing lots of research, my wife and I ended up going with Colin Roofing to replace our roof, which was badly weathered and had reached the end of its lifespan. Reno came out to give me an estimate, and he was friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive right from the start. Ultimately, the job ended up being pricier than I had expected due to the fact that we chose to install an all-new layer of OSB (those engineered wood panels you've probably seen, similar to plywood), but Colin Roofing's pricing was fair and competitive with other companies we had considered. Most importantly, Juan and his entire crew clearly knew what they were doing; their years of experience were on full display as they efficiently removed two old layers of asphalt shingles, installed the OSB, and then installed new shingles, flashing, fascia wood, and so forth. Oh, and to give you an idea of the level of customer service they provide, let me add this: Shortly after having our new roofing system installed, we were hit with some nasty Santa Ana winds that caused unsightly damage on a few of the new shingles that were visible from the street. I told Reno about this, and he quickly responded by sending out one of their guys to remedy the situation by securing the shingles with roofing cement or some such substance. At any rate, Reno's response to my concern reassured me that I had made the right choice by hiring Colin Roofing, and I would recommend them to all of my fellow yelpers because they stand behind their work and provide outstanding customer service.
