Daniel came got on my roof and told me I don't need a complete roof just need to be patched and they will garantee the work for 2 years well it hadn't been a year yet and it leaks I called the office and spoke with Max he said he would send someone out the Ron he sent out is telling me they didn't work in that area but now I need a new roof scam right there so rob called Max and after going back and forth Max told me he would send a crew out to patch it but he couldn't guarantee it now really 7000$ should of covered this patch so he said he will take 7000$ off the price to replace the roof. Talk about one thing after another going wrong... first they started putting in a 2nd layer of roof tiles over a section that was supposed to be a single layer (due to solar panel requirements), and when I called Max to warn him that they were making a mistake (to save him the cost of doing it all twice), he didnt believe me until I sent him a screenshot of our signed contract! Then they used the wrong length of nail and ended up shooting nails through most of our overhang (they fixed it... once poorly, then once properly). But the biggest issue is that there were problems with the roof structure itself that they didn't say anything about! Once the project was done, our roof was wavy. I pointed it out to the guy who was the head of their crew as they were finishing the job and he said "that's normal. nothing to worry about...". Our solar installer pointed it out as do others who visit. It's not normal. We finally got Max to come out close to a year later and he said that the issue was with the structure below the roof, and it was our responsibility to point it out. As if we needed to be on the roof mid-construction to inspect the roof and tell them to reply plywood. No one on his team said a word until it was done, and then they said it was our fault. He even had one of his "best roofers" come out (implying that the team that did the job the first time are clearly not the A-team), and his best roofer confirmed it was an issue with the plywood and beams. So, now we've spent more than twenty thousand dollars on a roof that will be wavy and most likely have issues down the line because of it. Don't work with these people! They're cheap for a reason! Golden Coast Roofing replaced the roofs on two of our buildings in Santa Monica on 2023. Since completion, both roofs have experienced recurring failures every single year due to substandard workmanship and poor-quality materials. Despite repeated complaints, the issues have not been properly resolved. Max has intermittently acknowledged the problems and, since the summer, has repeatedly promised to apply a silicone-based roof coating to both buildings as remediation. To date, no such work has been performed. Communication has been inconsistent and misleading, with ongoing delays and unfulfilled commitments. If the promised corrective work is not completed immediately, we will pursue alternative remediation through other contractors and hold Golden Coast Roofing fully responsible for all resulting costs, damages, and ongoing failures related to their defective work. read more

Golden Coast installed a new shingle roof in September of 2023. At the time I had requested that they look at my skylights and curbing around the skylights. They advised that the skylights were in acceptable condition and would not need replacement. Following completion of the roofing two skylights leaked and they came to replace them while charging me a "discounted" fee. This year two other skylights started leaking because of cracks in the dome. I contracted with a skylight company to replace 9 of my skylights but it did not include reroofing of the skylight curbs which should have been replaced and sealed with the new roof. Now I have massive leaks in two skylights and the leaks are originated from the curbs which were incorrectly sealed when the new roof went on. I had photos taken of the areas and consulted with other roofers. It appears that Golden Coast did not bother to reroof and seal the curbs but merely caulked the seams. The curbs were not evern remotely done in the correct way. I have tried contacting Golden Coast but all the phone numbers that I have tried listed on Yelp, website and contract do not allow leaving a message. The former project manager who I was able to contact no longer works for the company. It appears that this company and its owner, Max Elmedvi, are not accepting calls. read more

As a resident of Southern California my heart goes out to all those affected by the fires. The winds that accompanied the fires messed up the roof of my garage. While our damage pales in comparison to what so many experienced it was important to us to get the roof replaced before the rainy season. We got a few quotes and thankfully Golden's was the best. The roof we hired them to seal was done well. The only thing I caution for anyone contemplating using them is that they charged us about $600 for a "convenience fee". Is this because it was a convenience to hire them or they were inconvenienced by having to come down and service us? Also, they will make like they will hire a full crew of people to fix the roof that will take a days to complete, but the brought in two Hispanic men and were done within 1.5 days and they charged a lot! Your best bet would be Max at Golden Coast. The company works smoothly with the city permit and materials arriving at just the right time. There will be some roof planks with water damage and the city wants before and after photos of the bare wood after stripping everything off. Golden Coast gives some plank length for free but is upfront about additional per length charge for beyond this credit. It's very unfortunate I have to write this review. I even gave them another chance to reply to a text before this post. Max and his team redid our roof in summer 2023. We have solar panels that needed to be removed to redo that large section of the roof. We found a company to handle that part and Max and his crew got the roof done within a few days. Before the panels were put back up, my husband and the solar company installer noticed the roof wasn't flat and had some waves in it. My husband told the roofer what he saw and the project manager for the roofer (not Max, who didn't return after the original consultation) said it was fine and normal. Solar panels were put back on and the next rainy season (fall 2023) we had a leak where one of the panels connects to the roof. We began the process of figuring out what was happening by contacting the solar company. The solar company sent out a roofer who instantly said the leak could be repaired but the issue is the waves in the roof that will likely lead to more leaks and issues over the 20+ year life of the roof. Bottom line is after several months of no-shows for appointments and unreturned calls and texts (which he denies), Max got back to us to discuss this in person. He wants us to now pay $7,000 to remove the panels and shingles and redo the plywood underneath. Considering that they took the roof down to plywood during the original project, and had a clear view of the issue at that point - of the existing and potential problems, this should have been brought to our attention at that point. They should have recommended that we replace the plywood (which we obviously would have paid extra to do) so the roof would have been done correctly from the start. At no point should we, the home owners, be expected to go on the roof to assess the state of the plywood and tell the professionals what needs to be done (which is what Max is implying now). To say that this is in any way our fault is unprofessional and irresponsible from someone that we paid tens of thousands of dollars to. We paid for a job and it wasn't done. Simple enough. We're facing another rainy season with possibly more leaks and no real solution, and a lifetime with an ugly roof... unless we pay thousands more to fix it. Considering the original project was over $25,000 and guaranteed with a warranty, we're at a loss as to what to do. We were told we'd have a new, attractive, non leaky roof and unfortunately now we don't. I had already recommended this company to friends before this happened and now I can no longer do this. Not sure why the reviews are so high. We had them come out to do an estimate for the roof last summer. Estimate came out much higher than the other contractors, and they didn't even send a roofer out to do the estimate. It was someone to take photos but didn't know about roofing. Golden Coast Roofing replaced the flat roof on my industrial building in Sun Valley, CA. The building had 2 layers of old torch-down and hot-mop. The project was a complete tear-off, with a new Polyfresko torch-down cap sheet over its Elastoflex underlayment. I am very happy with choosing this company, after meeting with several good roofing contractors and considering other roofing materials. Golden Coast specializes in Polyfresko for flat roofs, and their crew is very experienced with this material system. The final "cool roof" looks very bright white. The roof is cleaner too, since the project included removing many old roof penetrations no longer needed. I had previously cut these pipes and vents below the roof, so they could be pulled straight up and out during the tear-off. The project was quoted and coordinated mostly by Levi, who is a good communicator and willing to hear and address any concerns. The owner Max visited several times, including a walk-through before starting work. I was reassured that minor cost variations would not result in (annoying) extra charges for plywood, rafters, hangers, sheet metal, etc. The crew of workers were dedicated and hard-working, under the steady and experienced supervision of foreman Jose. We got a new roof in September. The work included a new skylight, some replacement of damaged wood, and of course, replacement of roofing. We had a few estimates since this was a big job, and their price was in line with the work that we needed and what we expected to pay. The roof looks great and the on site team was always nice, did great work, and cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. The owner, Max, made sure to address any concerns that came up. Mayan, in the office, was helpful when I needed paperwork and clarification about warranty information. Eddie, our project manager, was on site now and then to make sure everything was going well and city inspections were completed. The company gave us a 10 year warranty on workmanship/labor, a 30 year warranty on all the roofing materials, and a 30 year warranty on the skylight they provided and installed. Hopefully we will never need to use these, but it does provide peace of mind. I will write an update to this review in case we need their warranty assistance. After the heavy rains in LA back in December/January, I contacted several roofing companies and received multiple bids. Without a doubt, Golden Coast was the most prompt, professional, and reliable in all aspects of the process. On the same day I contacted him, Max personally came to the house to inspect my old roof and gave me his recommendation in an honest and straightforward manner. From our very first conversation, I found him to be highly knowledgeable, meticulous in his work, and genuinely interested in providing top-notch service to his clients. After the completion of the project, he came by the house again to meet me in person, answer my follow-up questions, and make sure I was left satisfied. Following the recent tropical storm (Hilary) that hit LA, I discovered a small leak in one of my windows. My initial guess was that it could be coming from the roof, so I contacted Max again (on a Sunday). He answered right away and sent his crew on the following day to check things out. A tree fell on on our roof a few months ago and I called Golden Coast roofing to set up a time to repair the hole that the tree left in the roof. Eddie responded right away and came over to put an estimate down and assess the damage. The price was an unbelievable value for the service they provided and a week later they came to fix the roof right before tropical storm Hilary hit. Eddie and George came in the morning to start fixing it, and George fixed the entire roof within hours well before I thought they would be able to finish. When the storm hit on Sunday, we were afraid that some water would leak but nothing happened at all in the slightest. Golden coast did an exceptional job fixing the roof for an unbelievable price. I will definitely be calling these guys again in the future whenever there is an issue with our roof again. Golden Coast Roofing just finished replacing the entire back half of our roof which has both sloped and flat portions. Eddie came out to inspect my roof for the initial bid and also went up into the attic to help figure out exactly where the leak issues were. He showed me photos from his findings in the attic, explained what was necessary and showed me physical material samples of what the company uses. My roof was completed within the time frame promised and the crew was fast and efficient. They cleaned up after themselves after each of the days that they were here. Back in June of 2022 I hired this company to do a re-lift roofing job at my home because of a serious leak that occurred in my kitchen due to the rain that I believe occurred in April 2022. I did extensive research before selecting this company. In fact, I had five estimates from different companies and settled on this one because of the reasonable cost and ease of contacting Max by phone each time I called. Admittedly before they began, I was concerned because I didn't know how I would know if they did a good job if we didn't get any more rain. Well, today is April 17, 2023 10:37 am and I just got off the phone with Max thanking him for doing such an excellent job. With all the rain that we've had in Thousand Oaks, CA over the last month, I did not have one leak or any problem with my roof. We had a small leak in the roof that had discolored some paint in the bedroom which was getting worse with the storms we just had in January. GCR had the lowest price for patching a small area as the roof was in generally very good condition otherwise. They were the only company we contacted who didn't try to sell us on an entirely new roof or doing the entire span. They were confident they could fix the minor issue with a relatively minor repair. As the job was small and they do have a minimum repair price, they also resealed all of the pipes and chimney as part of the repair. They were also the only company that mentioned some cracked tiles that they replaced. They finished the 1 or 2 day job in a single day and sent pictures of the roof through the repair process so you know it was done right. It's always great (and not very common) that you find a contractor that you feel better about when they are done than when you hired them, particularly for a small job.
