Honestly, I was pretty trepidatious about my first few visits. I'd walk in late, sit in the back, and leave during the last few songs. Kinda dark, didn't really feel like making new friends. But I kept coming and I'm glad I did. Covid had made me pretty consumeristic about churches. If I didn't like a livestream, I'd just find another one. Collective helped shift my perspective on what it actually means to be part of a church. I've been coming for 4 years now. It took time, but I've connected with so many people trying to follow the teachings of Jesus. I've been pushed and convicted by services that have genuinely changed how I live and see the world. After church hopping in LA for about a year I visited Collective and have been coming ever since. The teaching is solid, biblical and delivered with urgency. If you're willing to stick around through the end of worship there will be people who come say hi and introduce you around. Just give it a shot, you won't be sorry :) There's coffee, kids ministry led by vetted volunteers, great musical worship, and it's an all around great community I'm so thankful to be apart of. read more

I visited this church and immediately felt out of place as a person of color. While several members did approach me to say hello, their greetings felt insincere. Curious about the church's leadership, I looked up the minister and found his Instagram account. I was surprised to see that he follows a number of right-wing commentators--Charlie Kirk, Candace Owens, anti-"woke" meme accounts, and similar content. It became clear to me that this church is more aligned with a political agenda rooted in right-wing ideology than with genuine spiritual guidance. It didn't feel like a real church to me. read more

Complete lack of diversity at this church. I can't speak to the sermon or community, but as a a visitor who gave this church a try, the lack of diversity was actually startling and made me uncomfortable. Hopefully this church can do some diversity outreach. read more

We visit Collective every time we travel to LA, Solid Bible teaching church and great worship!

Let me start off by stating the good qualities of this church first. I visited this church this past Sunday. The biblical teaching is sound and I enjoyed the aesthetics of the location too. Now, let me share with you the negative... if you are searching for a diverse church, this is not it. Let me repeat, this is not it. This community is 99% white members and probably a sprinkle of minorities. As a black woman, I appreciated how a couple of my caucasian brothers and sisters went out of their way to welcome me, yet and still, most of the attendees didn't even acknowledge me. With that said, I don't have enough fingers to count on how many times the pastor mentioned "slaves," "slavery" "THOU ART FREE!" I am kidding about that last part... I've never felt so uncomfortable in my life to be honest... I won't be returning, however, I am thankful that God is using that community to forward the gospel of Jesus Christ. read more

Love this community! No matter what your faith background is, this place is extremely welcoming. Engaging, truthful teaching always backed by Scripture, a strong focus on discipleship, a huge heart for the city, and an extremely friendly group of people. After attending this church for over a year, I can say that this is not a safe church for survivors of sexual abuse or religious trauma. The pastors are not empathetic, and they do not promote women being in leadership, and they will not allow people to be involved with the community unless they 100% agree with their theological beliefs. read more

This place is solid. They consistently teach out of the bible, and deliver messages that effectively communicate who Jesus is. Not to mention, the pastors are pretty cool. My wife and I got married a few months ago, and the teaching pastor officiated our wedding. We've built good friendships here, and everyone seems passionate about reaching the surrounding community, you can tell they genuinely love people. Like other reviewers have said, parking is easy, and if you have kids they have children's ministry for kids 6 months-5th grade. read more

Collective church has become a great home for me over the past two years. A little baby 3 year old church plant certainly comes with its share of ups and downs--and the church has seen hardship and adversity and pushed through together. If you're into a fun loving community of people who want to see Jesus transform the city of LA through the gospel, you'll find that here. It's on the smaller side for LA churches, which really gives you a chance to dig in and get to know people. The pastors are easy to talk to and aren't shy about their faults, and are clearly passionate about their church and the people in it. Here you'll find friends, you'll find support, you'll find some good times at the park and some dang good coffee--but mostly you'll find Jesus. If that's who you're looking for, we're a good fit for you. Oh also the music is lit and the prayer ministry is powerful and parking is easy and your kids can come have fun too! read more

For a city where it can be hard to feel welcome, Collective Church in West L.A. feels like a home away from home. For the Christian or non-Christian, for anyone coming from any background of faith and spirituality, you are welcome to come and hear a solid teaching on the story of God that's faithful to the gospel of Jesus Christ. The teaching pastor does not shy away from preaching the truth talked about in the Bible, nor does he shy away from being honest about how hard life can be. The people I've met are down to earth and seem to really care about what's going on in my life. Parking is easy, which is a plus. read more
