I accidentally walked into a Wednesday night service at The Westside Church and it's been over 2 years and I've never left. I didn't initially want to stay in this family of churches (which I grew up in) after I went to college because it was all I knew. I wanted to expand my perspective. But God made and has kept making it clear that this is where He wants me. And He has expanded my spiritual and life perspective through opportunities and friendships within and outside of Westside. I've been in this church for 26 years--so have witnessed it go through quite an evolution during that time. I love how it's always been incredibly diverse. It used to be more conservative a while back--but has grown to be much more inclusive, less judgmental. The tag line is Belong, Believe, Become--which means they start helping people see that they belong first--they are loved, they are enough, they are family. Then work to work through belief systems that hold people back from really experiencing life. And then what you believe, you can then become. I love my church! I've been a member of The Westside Church for about 3 - almost 4 years. As a single Christian The Westside Church has been a catalyst for my spiritual and personal development. I am not from Cali, and this church has been my family away from my family. There's always something to get into, somewhere to serve, someone to help and plenty of people to love and who love in return. Changed my life, my best friend in college who is now my husband, both my parents and countless people I've gotten to know for over 20 years here. I've been a member of many sister churches and since we've been here in the Westside Church, we couldn't be happier. I love how this church in particular really extends itself to everyone and allows everyone to use their gifts. There have been many different speakers, singers, and leaders from all walks of life who can flourish here. You'll feel welcomed by warm and sincere Christians who are working to make every visitor feel like they belong. The belief in having more people feel like they belong helps people to believe and eventually become not just Christians but what God has intended for each and every one of us. Went to the Westside church service this past Sunday and I had a wonderful experience. Couple of the things I really appreciated were the diversity of the group and the real vulnerability exhibited by many of those who spoke. It's always encouraging when the church community truly represents the community and when average people (like all of us) share their journeys. I dont attend this Church regularly, but when i do i feel like i learn something. At my last visit I learned about the story of Namaan, in 2nd kings and let me tell you, the person that lead that message did it justice...so much so I thought it was an actual movie that was coming out and later that week i realized it was just a part of his sermon! I will say though, The story about Naman is one that I will never forget. The atmosphere of this church is that of a vibrant, youthful church. There are families that attend, but definitely a church that has youth in the ranks, refreshing to see in this day and age. read more

Thankfully, I knew about the Westside church as it's apart of an amazing group of churches spanning across the globe! But even in the few months I've been apart of this church, I have felt so welcomed, uplifted, and encouraged in my relationship with God. The fact that this church focuses on living a Christlike and Bible-based life, as well as the emphasis on deep relationships with one another is what makes it so incredibly special. Being an Angeleno for over 2 decades you can get really lost in your career and run into family trouble... The church has really helped me find my way back when I thought all was lost. I live in Culver City and I enjoy being part of the thriving singles ministry in this diverse fellowship that serves the Westside of Los Angeles. The singles range from just out of college to those seasoned in years and there is a place and group connection for everyone. I appreciate how the Church has a commitment to serve the poor, marginalized, and underserved in the community. The sermons are Bible-based, relevant, applicable, and encouraging. I absolutely love attending the westside church. I've been part of this church since May of 2020, and even in the midst of a pandemic I found the community to be so tangible, even if we were only meeting online. I immediately got plugged in to the Singles Ministry, which has so many fun events, now the marrieds ministry, which is so beneficial as newlyweds. My husband and I help you lead a small group and volunteer with the Teen ministry too. I've been a part of this Church for a long time. Are we perfect? NO WAY! Are we devoted? We try our absolute hardest to be, to God, to each other, to the word, to ways we can serve God and each other. As you can see in the photos attached here we're a diverse bunch! We got different talents, strengths, weaknesses, tastes in food, music, you name it. We encourage each other to now follow our heart but the Spirit in different ways. I've been going to this church since 1999 when I moved to Los Angeles from Seattle to attend UCLA. It's a very diverse church full of friendly people. I have made life long friends attending this church. The ministers teach things straight from the bible. The church is also close knit and members generally know each other in and outside of church. I was a faithful member here for years. There are not enough positive things that I can say about this group of committed disciples! One thing that differentiated this group was the love and diversity. A church really is the people and the leadership. I have made some of my best friends here, and become the best version of me in the process. I found this church and it became a home over a decade, and I "grew up" from a college student at UCLA into a faithful single, and eventually got married in this church. It's comprised of genuine people with a heart to love others, in and out of the church. I would consider moving back, just to be apart of what's going on there... if I wasn't living in San Diego, I would be living in West LA and apart of the WESTSIDE CHURCH, my one true home. PS. It was 1990 - 32 years ago I visited Manila, Philippines to get away and try to figure out my life. As a single parent, it was challenging. My brother in LA told me about a church he thought I might be interested in. A Sabrina called and invited me to a midweek service and Bible study. My life has never been the same since. I returned Home to LA in 1991 and connected with the same church in the SoBay. In 1992, I moved to the Westside and have been a part of the Westside Church family ever since. There are people from every walk of life, who strive to know and love God and people. I've been blessed to be a part of our singles and marrieds ministry, and then raise our kids alongside strong and supportive families, in our youth, teen & campus ministries and weekly Sunday school. I met my husband here 21 yrs ago. We're a blended family. I'm so grateful for God's word and the people he put in our lives to help us through the good and bad times. The Westside Church has helped me through the most difficult times in my life. I moved to West LA from Buffalo, NY in 2005 and my family originally struggled to transition to such a different environment. The Westside Church welcomed us in with open arms. There is likely a small group or a few members that live 5-10 minutes away from you and even if you live further Westside Church worship center, we are happy to drive to meet with you. Also, the church has a robust college ministry which I experienced as an undergrad and graduate student. I attended UCLA (Westwood) and Pepperdine (Malibu) and was surrounded with devoted Christians through my years in school. Recently, I've spent lots of time with the young professional (YoPro) ministry which is a great ministry to transition to from college. The members, regardless of age, are dedicated, loving, fun, and have pushed me towards Christ even when I felt like I wanted to give up. Overall, the members here are amazing and want to live out discipleship the way Jesus calls every believer to. They acknowledge that they are not perfect, and are humble to correction.
