My daughter has been going to this studio for 3-4 months and we have been very pleased so far. We were reluctant to enroll our kids in any activities due to the pandemic, but after touring the studio we felt very comfortable having our daughter come. They are taking excellent precautions to keep all of the dancers safe. Many dance studios are crowded into too small buildings and there is a feeling of chaos before and after classes. That is not the case here- the studio is spacious and well organized. The staff and instructors have a high level of professionalism and have been so sweet to my daughter. Our 4 year old is in a combined ballet/tap dance and loves going to dance class every week. She has been coming home and showing us what she learned in class and we can see she is making excellent progress. The studio does a great job in age appropriate dance instruction and has really made it fun for her. She has come home with special props and little treats she got during dance class; it is little things like this that make it extra special for her. Hi! I'm actually a student at this studio, and here's my Point of view. They are clean, they have super nice teachers, and they are always friendly at the front desk! One of my friends (Jaelynn Gachett) Goes to this studio and loved it, so I had to come! I love dance, It makes me feel awesome. CDA is a great school that has grown since we've started. I love the ambiance, it is clean, the instructors (we've encountered) have been kind, and my daughter has definitely increased her dancing skills since her start. While we look forward to continuing our time at CDA, the school could do better with a few things. What could be better... - be selective with the students who can join the school. I don't say this to mean discrimination. I mean this to say... not all girls want to dance. It's their parents who want them to dance. The girls get in the class and are disruptive and take away from the lessons. - enforce the rules you have posted throughout the halls. If observation rooms are to be quiet, then enforce that. - the front desk staff are polite. However, they should also be knowledgeable and helpful. I have left on many occasions, not getting the answers to the questions being asked. Why wouldn't the front desk be able to help a parent with identifying classes? - email is NOT the only form of communication. When do parents have time to chat with the instructor? Quick questions...seems like parents only get that opportunity if their kid is the one acting up. - the classes are getting larger, not sure if that is on purpose, or if people are making up missed days, but the classes should be capped. The dance rooms aren't that big, and given the instructor/dancer ratio... it only leads to more playing in the class vs. actual learning. - I can not say that in the time that we have been at the school, that I have ever met the owner. It would be nice if she would make her self known and dedicate one week to being available each day. All in all, I think the school wants to give off a homey vibe, which they very well do. But the business side that is very on top of payments does not align. When you pay for something, there is an expectation of service, and generally, that is not the laid back/passive approach. To be clear: - larger classes, should have two instructors that are able to redirect behavior. Or disruptive dancers should be dismissed from the class - dancer uniform should be enforced (no ponytails, jewelry, etc) - staff should monitor the halls for disruptive parents and guardians (asking them to step out with their sreaming siblings, etc) -offer time for the instructor to have a quick(5 min) convo with parents at some point so they know how their child is doing or what they should work on. - where is the dancer discipline? Even at the younger ages, you can set a standard to be followed. Recommended school, but would love to see standards and expectations that are higher. read more

My daughter and I walked into Collective Dance Artistry and were greeted by the friendliest people ever! The studio itself is elegant, comfortable and elite. The dancers have a huge cozy lounge with homework areas, changing rooms and lighted hair/makeup stations. They also have a full kitchen with a large table, fridge and microwave for eating dinner on long dance nights. It's like a family. My daughter was encouraged to try every single genre of dance to determine her level and what she liked before deciding. This place is top notch, SUPER classy and inviting all at the same time. This is her 9th year dancing so we've been to a few studios in town whether it be classes, master classes or dance intensives. Collective offers more genres than any studio we've ever been to... We also love that there is a strong ballet focus for those who are seeking that in a studio. I've never encountered such professionalism, strong focus on technique while also giving opportunities for all genres of dance! My daughter is calling it "dance heaven". The teachers are also very encouraging and come from very professional backgrounds - which shows. They have four state-of-the-art dance studios (with viewing for parents) and even a karate school with two dojo's (Retro Sport Karate). Acro/Tumbling classes at the dance studio are taught in one on the dojo's on a sprung floor which is great! :o) We were familiar with Collective after years of competitions, watching their amazing technique, beautiful choreographed dances, and the fact that they always came out on top. It's a drive for us but well worth it! :o) They've welcomed us like family members and my daughter never wants to leave at night. :) :) read more

We just wanted to say thank you Collective Dance Artistry for thinking outside of the box and continuing to provide lessons to our daughter, Ava. By providing online ZOOM classes, not only is it helping her continue to improve her dance education but it is providing her a sense of normalcy and purpose in this unprecedented situation we are all dealing with right now. Her being able to get ready for dance exactly how she used to and then correspond with the teachers she loves as well as her friends is priceless. Collective Dance Artistry is our daughters second home. Our family moved into the San Antonio area three years ago, and immediately began looking for the perfect studio for her. Ashley Lopez and her amazing staff greeted us with open arms as soon as we entered the building. Dancers can spend numerous hours in a studio; therefore, trusting someone to provide a healthy environment was priority. CDA provides a space for dancers to thrive in dance, explore their art and create healthy relationships with other dancers and teachers. Our family is very honored to be apart of such an amazing group of people. They make the girls feel comfortable and everyone there is so nice. They have a girls lounge where no male can enter, but if a male needs to enter to fix like a lamp the lady in thefront warns the girls to make sure they are all covered. We love this place the teachers are amazing . We 100% recommend this studio. You won't regret it read more

Update: one dance season in and still a gleaming 5 star review from us! Definitely a good group of folks here and they are great at what they do. Our daughter did Teen Ballet (she's 11 but the height of a teen) and Beginning Contemporary. From Day 1 to now - I'm amazed at how far she's come! Her technique and skill have drastically improved and her love and enthusiasm for the art is through the roof! They had their recital a couple weekends ago and the entire show was absolutely amazing and very well put together! The costume choices were very tasteful and gorgeous, the choreography was very well done, backstage was very organized ... it was a major highlight of our year! The instructors are all top-notch and even the support staff (shout out to Ms. Rhonda and the mom volunteers!) are all amazingly great at what they do. I can see her growing so much here and we're excited to see her progress. We love it so much that we're upgrading to unlimited classes as soon as she does her trials to figure out class placement. Can't say enough good things about this studio! ********************************************* Previous Review: Haven't started classes yet BUT this review is based on our first impressions. We were trying to visit another studio that we thought was "the one" but they were oddly closed during a scheduled open day so we yelped to find another since the girls were already excited to go studio shopping. Went to CDA, which sits out of view and a little off the beaten path in a big metal structure. Doesn't look like much from the outside but once you hit the door, pure elegance! Beautiful wood floors, very tasteful decor, and best of all, smiling faces ready to greet you. We got an impromptu tour of the place and the yelp pics don't do it ANY justice (wish I would've thought to take pics myself!). There's a chill area up front with comfy yet nice couches, down the hall there's a beautiful dressing room and lounge for the dancers, down a little ways more are several very top notch studios. Nice little viewing seating area at each studio so parents can see in but kids can't see out. Ran into some of the veteran moms there and they were forthcoming with welcoming us and each gave glowing reviews of their experience here over the years. No "dance mom diva" vibes at all. Love that there's a karate studio connected to it but in it's own area with the same viewing seating areas. They offer SEVERAL different types of classes (ballet, tap, jazz, modern, contemporary, hip hop, musical theater, improvisation, leaps and turns, creative movement) and different skill levels available. They offer a free trial to EACH class before you register so your kiddo can make sure to pick the right fit(s). Everyone was very helpful and very nice. Place was beautiful, clean, and cozy. I just got an overall good vibe from this place as did our girls. The entire place is very top notch and a true hidden gym! For a place of art, it was nothing what it should be. This studio downgrades little girls not just by their skills (even as a beginner) but also as a person. Never been so disgusted in my life. Truly distasteful in the respect to a dance studio. I do not suggest this for anyone, not beginners, not intermediate or even professional. There was obvious bullying and the instructors weren't even that skilled. I do not recommend. read more

We couldn't be more happy to be at Collective Dance Artistry. As soon as you walk through the door you are greeted by a smiling face and a very warm welcome. It is extremely organized, reasonably priced and there are no surprise hidden fees. They foster an inclusive environment where dancers feel a sense of belonging and they appreciate each student regardless of their level of technical ability. Communication between the studio and parents is impeccable and that makes a world of a difference. Collective Dance Artistry is the best dance studio in San Antonio by far! You need to see this place. The facility is incredible! They have four studios that are state of the art!!! Incredible staff, too!! Teachers are great. They are very experienced dancers, some of which have danced professionally. Friendly people who really make you and your child feel welcome Great floors (Harlequin they tell me), huge mirrors in every studio, a beautiful dancers' lounge and so much more!! And there are observation areas for parents to watch, and the kids can't see you watch They have everything from beginner classes to advanced. And a first class competition team The owner's husband even has a karate studio that is tremendous right next door. It is connected to the dance studio, so you can enter it from inside. If you have more than one child like I do, and one wants to dance and the other wants to learn karate, this is the place for you. The karate studio is Retro Sport Karate.
