Almost the whole shop is back-issue comics and magazines, mostly bronze and modern age, plus a decent selection of new graphic novels and trades, old sci-fi / fantasy paperbacks, and some other collectibles. I knocked more items off my want list here than anywhere around the country in recent memory. Prices IMHO range from low to a bit high, so more than fair in the aggregate. Easy to browse despite the small space. Prices clearly marked. Easy parking. For the type of shop this is (the type I like most!), legitimately great.

I've been to this place many times and depending on what you're looking for. It can really be picked through if it's a hot comic book at the time. However, they have a great selection of new books as well. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They also have some old action figures mostly out of box that are behind locked glass. There's something for everyone. Great place to take the kids to find something as well. The comic books are priced comparable to the comic market so depending on where that's at prices can vary.

There were people chatting at the counter when we came in, so Carla didn't see that I was with anyone when I entered the store. She was sure to ask me if I needed help with anything, which is a first in the slew of comic and game shops I've been to recently. The shop is set up with different rooms devoted to your interest, with comics in one wing and games in another, and more general books and collectibles merchandise in the main room where you enter. If you head to the back, you'll find space for game playing and where Don is organizing his back stock of comics. The shop on the whole is bright and colorful, and I felt totally welcome to browse. Don and Carla had a nice word for everyone who came in the store, and it was pretty clear that they have a small army of loyal customers. The outside of the store isn't much to look at - it's situated in an industrial-looking strip mall - but don't let that deter you from the checking out their cozy shop. Even if you're not a full-on geek, there are still things for you here - several of their games are great for a game night with friends.

Online showed they might have some in stock, so I called first. The gentlemen I spoke with on the phone was really nice and answered my questions, which made me feel confident enough to stop by in person. When I walked in, though, the in-store experience felt a bit different and on the emptier side. The two employees at the front didn't seem very welcoming and gave off a slightly annoyed vibe. When I asked about the Pokémon cards, they seemed confused about what I was referring to until I mentioned I had called earlier and spoken to someone. They checked with their coworker, who clarified which ones he had told me about. I asked to see the packs they had behind the counter, and the interaction still felt a little tense. That said, I was able to grab the two packs, which ended up being the perfect gift for my cousin, so mission accomplished. Overall, they had what I needed, and I appreciate that the phone service was helpful. I'd probably come back if I really needed something specific, and I'm curious to explore more of what they carry. Additionally, for those who leave low-star reviews; just because your local comic store participates in a day to give FREE product doesn't mean every business has to. You are not entitled to anything of Free Comic Day, it's just that some people offer it. Also, the cat? Why would you pet a sleeping cat? That's pure, unfiltered ignorance--let the poor thing sleep. Tryke displays the enjoyment of sharing comic knowledge to all his customers and he educates them on the excitement of comic book stories. When you arrive in the lower level of this store, you may notice the number of comics, toys and misc. items crammed across limited floor space but let me tell you, this is what makes it exciting. Your eyes will wander with the possibility of a comic surprise that you discover during your visit . One advice I learned over the years is to always ask Tryke if you have any questions on comics or just looking for that one item you cannot find. You will then understand why this local comic book store and the manager who runs it will always be my stop over when visiting Lake Geneva. Hai is knowledgeable , passionate and never anything but polite and helpful. He never pushes anything but always remains helpful with suggestions about the merchandise. Again , I am truly ignorant of all things super hero and comic book - but Hai is always patient and good natured about it and birthdays and Christmas have been easier as a result.
