When I first moved to Portland in 2018, Childroots NW was the first child care community I applied…read morefor as I got settled into the downtown area, and the hiring process was clear, welcoming, and supportive as they welcomed me into their fun, creative, and environmentally conscious community. Childroots NW has always shown to be as inclusive and supportive as possible from my perspective as an experienced Early Childhood Educator at that time, because of their commitment to individual professional development of their staff. One of my favorite aspects about working for Childroots NW was their support of each teacher finding unique ways to include their cultural and individual identities into their classroom environment while simultaneously ensuring licensing guidelines are followed. During the rise of the 2020 pandemic, and statewide shutdown, this community did their very best to adjust to new national and state-wide policies as such alarming and fear-inducing emergency's require (as all licensed childcare facilities throughout the state had to comply with understandably), and so I watched as Childroots, LLC maintained a strong balance between serving our local families, following new rules and regulations, as well as finding the best ways to take care of their staff with such uniquely individual needs. I will never forget a time when I ended up in an ambulance ride to the hospital after catching COVID, and I called the site Director to notify her of what was happening and she was so supportive that by the time I returned home, she had left a box of essential items and groceries at my doorstep for me to have while I finished the days-long quarantine! This goes without saying, that I can say my own experience has shown the way that Childroots NW staff and families really do pull together for one another during times of need, and I personally will always have nothing but gratitude for this company. As for me. I continued my employment Teaching with Childroots NW, as previously mentioned in their support for professional development, and therefore lead to my decision to continue my education in support of young children and their families by pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. The Childroots community fully supported me in this endeavor and so in late 2023, shortly after my cohort of students graduated from my PreK class to move forward to their individual Kindergarten classrooms, at this time I began my transition from Early Childhood Educator to Social Worker at the nearby State University. As I leave this review now in 2026, I have just graduated with my Bachelors in Social Work and decided it was time to share my experience as I would not be where I am today without Childroots, LLC. I highly recommend all Early Childhood Educators out there who are looking for community support, and professional development to apply here! Don't give up when days get hard, because Childroots will support you through those unforeseen hardships, and my experience has shown that your goals truly can be reached when you keep working toward them with community's like Childroots by your side!

I have returned to working for ChildRoots for the last two years. Since my return, I have had a…read morewonderful experience. I started back again as a Teacher then moved into the role of Specialist. Management has the best interests of the teachers in mind and strives to improve working experience daily. The main reason I have decided to work with ChildRoots is a) the management and b) the philosophy. I truly believe that children learn best through hands-on experience and exploration of their own interests. Many of the staff are some of the best people I have ever worked with (shout out to the amazing, dedicated team). I will shortly be leaving to continue my education, but I would stay if I could continue working with these amazing teachers and admin. As they say, "You don't quit a place. You quit your boss," and that's why I have returned and have dedicated myself to continue working with ChildRoots until I return to school.
