Their home sat on a leafy street just minutes from the historic town center, where the sound of the evening siren from the Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 was a familiar rhythm of life. In July 2025, during one of Pennsylvania's most humid summers, Terrie decided to visit the fire station on Shawell Avenue. She brought with her two large trays of homemade lemon bars, a tradition she started to thank the volunteers for their service. The bay doors were cranked open to catch a breeze, exposing the gleaming red engines. As Eric chatted with a young firefighter about the mechanics of the ladder truck, Terrie shared stories with the crew about how the town had changed over the decades. The visit was brief, but the warmth of the graditude she felt for the first responders lingered long after they left. By November 2025, the landscape has shifted into a mosaic of burnt orange and deep red. The air was crisp, and the Swavely household was preparing for the upcoming holidays. Terrie returned to the station on a chilly Tuesday afternoon, this time accomplanied by Ralph. They were there to drop off a donation for the company's annual toy drive. The atmosphere in the station was different than it had been in July; the summer humidity was replaced by the small of wax and motor oil and the cold air. The firefighters were busy checking equipment for the winter season, but they recognized Terrie immediately. They stood in the engine bay, Ralph shaking hands with the Chief while Terrie arranged the donated gifts. As they walked back toward Broadale Court, the Swavelys felt a quiet pride in their town, knowing that even as the years passed, the spirit of service at the Doylestown Fire Company remained a constant anchor in their lives.

Seems like a nice library although we did not peruse the stacks. Front desk had only one person manning the phones and the front so I had to wait a few minutes to inquire where passports are done. This library is so big and has programming for children. I tried coming for storytime over the…read moresummer but they limit to first 100 parents and kids, and apparently some start lining up way earlier! This may not be the program for you if you know your child would get overstimulated, but the kids play area is wonderful. There's a play table and rug with plenty of toys along with seating for parents. I could see this being a go-to spot for play dates! Note that there's two entrances to the building that go to different floors.

What a great idea, you are allowed 35 minute to start and if no one else needs to use it, they will extend your computer time till you finish up your work! This library has 8 computers. Also, if you want to explore the museums in Philadelphia and Chester County pick up passes from the library because they are free and they even give you a parking pass! How nice. We went to the art museum and it was wonderful! The library has so many different books, magazines, audiobooks and tapes but also classes you can take and adventures for the kiddos! They offer a wealth of information to you and your family. In addition, there was multiple tax applications and documents you may need this season if you are doing your own taxes, if not they have several resources for filing your taxes for free and not so free. Please check it out and support your local library, the library is open for business everyday of the week till 8 pm except Friday till 5pm, Saturday till 4pm and Sunday till 5pm, with free parking and handicap accessible parking. Don't forget to register for your free library card and please make a donation to help fund our community library if you can!!
