We came back bright and early Tuesday morning around 8:00am and quickly discovered we weren't the only ones with the same idea. The line was already about 30 people deep, and by the time they opened at 8:30, that line had easily doubled. Once we finally got inside, things moved along pretty efficiently. We checked in, were given a number, and waited about 15 minutes before our number was called. The woman who assisted us was pleasant, reviewed all of our paperwork, and sent my son over to one of the computers to take his test. Fortunately, he made quick work of it and passed. We then had to wait to be called up again to finish the process, but everything went smoothly. All told, once we actually got inside, the entire process took just under an hour. That's not too bad considering government paperwork is involved.

My STRONGEST my strongest advice is to read read read and be sure you have the documents that are needed for your type of transaction. I advised this due to personal experience.,lol. Generally speaking, allow several hours. Don't try to squeeze an appointment in before work or at lunchtime. Yes there may be times when it's not busy, but you don't wanna take that chance. And finally, when you get up to the desk inside the door be the first person to say good morning or good afternoon or anything pleasant to the person behind the desk. It's magical you will see and continue doing that with each and every person you have to encounter. Overall, my visit was about one hour and 45 minutes. After the initial check-in after I received my number, I had to see an agent to review my application that I filled out after checking in at the front. Upon Kia's review and payment, I was then sent back out to the waiting room to wait for my turn for photo and photo drivers license. I did not need the real ID. I will say when I got to the photo desk, I was not acknowledged by the agent, but as soon as I said hello, my name is Sue what is yours , again It was magical! TL;DR: Call 1-866-964-6305 and SET AN APPOINTMENT via phone. The office DOES NOT TAKE WALK-INS. First of all, the phone number listed on Yelp and Google is dead wrong. IF you call 1-800-772-1213 (the listed phone number on all the online websites, including the SSA.GOV Norristown office webpage), you will wait on hold for a LONG ass time. When someone finally picks up, they will tell you that there are no appointments necessary, and you should show up in person. DO NOT DO THIS. THE NORRISTOWN SITE DOES NOT TAKE WALK-INS. DO NOT CALL THIS PHONE NUMBER. THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT. Instead - skip the 1-800 number entirely, and call 1-866-964-6305 during business hours. This will connect you directly to the Norristown PA office, and they will set up an appointment for you with a specific time and date. Before you go - go to the SSA.GOV website and follow their instructions on what documentation you will need. Bring ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS whenever possible, no photocopies of passports etc. Follow these instructions, show up early at your appointment time, and you will be in and out in as little as 20 minutes with no hassle.

An old library book, Gardens of Philadelphia, made me aware of Highlands Mansion, and…read morecoincidentally friends wanted to have a play date at Kids Castle, so on our way home we checked out Highlands. The mansion is apparently under restoration so I did not tour it, but I did see the gardens. While these gardens are nothing compared to the scale of the Brandywine DuPont estates, they are impressive for a former private residence. The most remarkable thing about them, to me, is their use of dramatic tall freestanding walls. Designers seem to agree that the best tool for success in landscaping is creating outdoor "rooms" or dedicated areas with hedged/fenced/walled/etc. boundaries to delineate and discern one outdoor space from another. I've toured many gardens domestic and abroad and I've never seen such a liberal use of wall structures that were apparently built solely for ornamental landscaping purposes (as opposed to ruins or retaining walls). Yes, you see decorative walls employed at Longwood and Chanticleer, but none so gigantic as these. Highlands was working with flat plain meadow and the goal seemed to be to create multiple garden-framed large lawn spaces, free of tree debris or too much shade to affect the grass. The walls are designed to tower as high as ornamental trees, but without the maintenance, root issues, leaf drop, etc. and they green-ify these walls with ivy trained all over them. Voila, vertical garden, architectural interest, height, and allowance for terrain diversification. I grew up adjacent to the trove of magnificent DuPont estates in the Brandywine Valley. I'm now fortunate to live 2 1/2 mi from Chanticleer and 7 1/2mi from Tyler Arboretum (Jenkins is closer but it doesn't appeal to me). I would recommend the destinations closer to me for full day visits, while Highlands gardens would only take a half hour for the formal area, and more if you choose to hike a trail or tour the manse. Still, it may be a half-day visit at most. While not a day trip destination on its own, it is a worthy stop if in the area, and I do recommend it to anyone interested in garden design who's already toured the others I mentioned. This is also an event venue, and the formal space is certainly made for such use, so it's lovely people can enjoy the space as it was intended when conceived.

While the mansion is still undergoing renovations so we were not able to include that and so my…read morereview may change in the future. Don't expect to take even a full afternoon visiting but it is a lovely preserved estate around the city. There's some goats, and the grounds are enjoyable to take an hour or so to walk with nice historical signs for context. There is some parking but it likely gets packed in high traffic times. I can't put it in my top gardens available for Philadelphia, it's good to have treasures like these to keep the sense of history and love of horticulture the area has long held.

African American woman sitting behind the counter she says I'll be with you in a moment your suppose to wait in line. She says I'm used to people reading the signs. I said what line it's nobody in here. I didn't even come to the counter in front of her I still kept my distance and proceeded to wait. Another lady behind the counter asked if I was getting a passport I said no 1 stamp. She says oh I'll be right with you and walks to the back. Now I've never been in this post office in my life but first impressions are everything. Nobody could stop what they were doing to give me a stamp. The fact that she got smart saying she's used to people reading the signs was unnecessary. I approached her said good morning and this was the response I received. Please educate your employees on customer service and how to talk to people because all that was totally Unnecessary for 1 stamp. She took so long to wait on me I ended up leaving. Really ridiculous!! I came in happy and left pissed.. let me go back to my neighborhood where I'm welcomed!!

I love going to the library! This one has some nice modern technology, such as self-checkout, which…read moreis pretty convenient. It's also nice that the books on hold are in a separate section where you can go look for it yourself rather than having to get in line to ask a librarian to locate it. There's also free wi-fi, of course, and lots of new books every time I go in. I almost always end up picking something out to read, though I don't always end up reading it. In addition to books and movies and such, museum passes are available at the library! Probably not terribly common knowledge for the most part, but this library makes it well-known by putting all of the museum passes up front. The downside of this is that the ones I'm interested in are often out. They also don't do reservations for it, so that part can be rough. Besides that, though, I'm a fan of this location and will continue to go check out their new offerings!

I've been coming to this Lansdale Library for years and have never had a problem until recently. I…read morereally don't like having to write a negative review but unfortunately, I feel that some of the workers here are judgmental and pick and choose who they say things to, whether or not the person has to pay for the community room or not. There is a lot of things that they are not doing with certain people but then other people they are. Certain staff members yell at some patrons about being too loud but yet some man's phone kept ringing, ringing and ringing and being very loud and not one staff member came down to say anything to him about it. I had to ask a staff member to ask him to please turn his phone down and yet it was still going off. Then the community room issue in many people's minds I have asked it should be free for the community too use but yet they charge certain patrons to use it. I have witnessed 3 different "apparently" support groups do not have to pay to use the community room because they were support groups! I feel that it's discrimination due to the library saying that if it's non-profit it's $25/hourly and for profit it's $40/hourly. Those 3 groups were NOT support groups they were groups that are non-profit. I really feel it's really unfair that support groups don't have to pay anything. They should either make EVERYONE who needs to user the community room free, or EVERYONE has to pay whether they are a support group, non-profit or for profit!
